  1. For my MGA chapter, we started using Playthru Golf. It's not an app, but a web-based scoring program. It has a live leaderboard and is free, as long as you don't need the program to create scorecards or other options. If you only want it for scoring purposes, it's totally free. Someone will have to start an account, create the event on the website, and send out the link to the competitors. I've used it several times with no hiccups, other than players forgetting to put in their scores. It does not have GPS capabilities. It is only for scorekeeping.
  2. Wow, 23!! I know, Yellowknife always brings a large group and they bring the party! We're only sending myself and 2 others. Our average age in the chapter is ~65. Our outgoing CL, and 6 other members, all live in the same 55+ community! LOL
  3. Very nice! One of our guys got a bronze ticket last year. Unfortunately, he caught Covid and couldn't go. Our chapter leader spoke to Jon and he's been allowed to cash it in this year. Are you going Wednesday or Thursday? I'm flying in Wednesday afternoon for the 3 rounds.
  4. I'm a member in Florida. I'll be at the WC! Are you headed there?
  5. In 2015, didn't Tom Watson play at the age of 65?
  6. The duck hook definitely came first. My old miss was a slice. When I hit that first duck hook, I thought how weird it was. I had fixed my slice and was driving the ball pretty accurately with the occasional heavy fade. Then, I did it again, then again, then again. I'm mixing in accurate drives. I have no idea what the difference is, and I have no idea what's going to happen every time.
  7. I voted 8. I have developed a duck hook that happens about 50% of my drives. The other 50% are dead straight or a baby draw. Every time I reach for the Driver, I take a deep breath and wonder which shot will show up. My driver used to be my most reliable club. Not so much anymore.
  8. I guess it all depends on what you're willing to spend. If you're going to be in the Clearwater/Madeira area, look into Seminole Lake Country Club. It's semi-private and always in great shape. Bardmoor is in the area and they used to host the JCPenney pro tournament in the 80s and 90s. It has history, but they tend to jam the tee sheet and it's not worth what they charge. If you don't mind a bit of a drive, Fox Hollow Golf Club is a very nice track and very well maintained. If you don't mind spending the money, TPC Tampa is a nice option.
  9. This had been the first time. We usually play the same courses every year, so I'm familiar with the layouts. This was the 1st time we had played a tournament at this course. I normally try to get out and play a practice round, but our schedule got compressed with COVID postponements and wasn't able to schedule anything. If I run into a new course, and don't get a chance to scout it, I'll have to ask someone that works there prior to the round. Thanks for the feedback!
  10. Thank you for confirming!
  11. So, here's the scenario. I was playing in a tournament last month. I, for some reason, seemed to be compelled to hit my tee shots into water that day. Since the water was close to the teeing area, there really wasn't any relief to be had, other than re-teeing. On a couple of the holes, I hit my subsequent shots into the water. After finally finding dry land and laying 5, I happened upon unmarked drop zones on my way to my ball. They weren't marked anywhere on the card and there were no signs for them. Since I had already played my shots, I didn't use them and just took my medicine. However, in the future, are you permitted to play a provisional, until you are able to verify the existence of a drop zone on that hole?
  12. I picked 20,000, and thought I was going to come in a little high. Whoops!
  13. From what I've played: 1. Innisbrook - Copperhead 2. Innisbrook - Island 3. Fox Hollow 4. Eagles - Forest Course 5. TPC Tampa I would normally have TPC much higher, based on my first several times playing it. However, the last time I played it, the greens were in horrible shape. They had recently punched and sanded them, but that had been a month prior.
  14. I tend not to wear any sunglasses while golfing. For some reason, I have a hard time following the flight and landing of the shots with my sunglasses on. But anytime off the course, I wear polarized.
  15. That can't be the case, I pre and post spray.
