PING Introduces Ballnamic Ball Fitting Site
Never3putt replied to iacas's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Interesting. With launch monitor information, it's likely more useful than "guessing" current performance. For instance, whenever I've done any virtual fitting and they've asked about trajectory, I'm never really sure if my flight is average, above, or below normal heights. -
I put them right up there with the clowns who honk their horns or yell out the window when they drive by a golfer getting ready to hit their shot. Childish behavior? Attention seeking? Whatever. As long as they think they're special. 🙂

PING Introduces Ballnamic Ball Fitting Site

First thought is the comment by P.T. Barnum 🙂. 40 bucks seems a bit steep for an online questionnaire! Now, if it were a fitting where you actually hit different balls with actual data available from a launch monitor, it may be more reasonable. -
I try to ride between 15-25 miles 4-7 times a week, weather and schedule permitting.

Should Divots Be Considered Ground Under Repair?
Never3putt replied to Foursum Golf's topic in Rules of Golf
It's really not that difficult to strike the ball in a divot, in most cases. -
Short 11.5 miles on the bicycle this morning. Cool morning, but the smoke wasn't as bad as it has been.

Starting the challenge with the 5 holes that I recently birdied in the last 2 weeks. Challenging myself to get all 18 in by years end!

Why is Shallowing on the Downswing So Desirable?
Never3putt replied to ZANDER1994's topic in Golf Talk
Big chicken wing on follow through says a lot about that, as well. -
Well yes. I do that.

Had a good front side, but the back side I made too many dumb errors that resulted in the bogey train. 79.

I went to Mary Esther for 6th grade, Pryor, then Choctaw (class of 69). My brother and sister both went to FWB HS. My father owned Harsch's Flowers on Bealle St and also Fred's Place in Destin.

About my only workout anymore is to ride my bicycle 4-7 times a week, anywhere from 10-25 miles per event. With 2 replaced knees, a fused neck, fused toe, and other maladies of a senior, golf and biking are about my only 2 exercises anymore.

Welcome. I grew up in NW Florida (Ft Walton Bch, actually Mary Esther) but I live on the other side of the country now.

Golf Ball for Low Club Speed?
Never3putt replied to hoonnirun's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Take a look at snellgolf.com. Both the MTB Black and the MTB-X are great balls, significantly cheaper than other premium golf balls. I play the MTB-X and compare it favorably to Pro-V1X and the TP5X. -
That's my point. He's doing it for the same reason that CC sought out endorsements from Jordon Spieth and Hank Haney. As long as they agree with what they're endorsing (even if, in this case, they're not really using it), there's no issue. CC gets advertising endorsements and the pros get compensated. It's not any different than any other endorsements for which the players are paid. Speaking of endorsements, a Korn Ferry player that ended up in the top 25 that played as a youngster at my club, just recently went from 5 figure endorsement money to 6 figure endorsement money, simply because he is getting his PGA Tour card next year. Endorsement contracts are a huge factor for players of all sports.

Poor approach shots and even poorer chips/pitches resulted in a disappointing 83. Scoring wasn't helped any by hitting a shot OB on a par 5 and taking another double later in the round. Golf is humbling.

Club Champion Recommendation or Go My Own Way?
Never3putt replied to lmorales425's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I was fit 3 years ago in Portland by CC. I had a very positive experience with the fitting. I did opt to buy from them, with full knowledge of the cost and expectations. I could have bought elsewhere. I could have ordered all of the parts and built the clubs myself. I am not unhappy with my decision to have CC build the clubs. When they arrived, they were to the exact specs that the fitter called for. I'm still using the irons and putter that I bought via CC and am still very happy with the results of my fitting. I had my driver reshafted at the same time based on their recommendation. I was less pleased with that, but I suspect that's more me than the club. In any case, I have since replaced that driver. All in all, I was very happy with my experience with CC. I've seen lots of complaints about them, mainly related to their business model on building clubs rather than the actual fitting process. Some of the complaints that I've read seem to be more buyer remorse and based on $$ rather than the actual performance of the clubs. Additionally, the fitting is only as good as the person doing the fitting. The fitter that I went to spent a lot of time with me, explaining the process, giving his thoughts and recommendations. I did not feel pressured to buy from them. He showed me the prices, stating his opinion of the advantages of having CC build the clubs, and let me make a decision. He did offer a break on the price of the fitting if I chose to have them build the clubs. I understand that this is not the norm. I'm sure that there are bad fitters working for CC, just as there are those that are high pressure sales people that seek to upsell. Bottom line, the responsibility to make the final decision rests with the consumer. Absolutely nothing wrong with getting fit at CC (or any other fitter) and taking those recommendations to another builder.
