  1. One more thing, when you can, fly Southwest and pay the extra for the Business Select. You get on as one of the first 30 to board, allowing you to pretty much select your seat and a spot for your carry on. When flying other airlines, I would check bag and not have the hassle...kick back, earphones and your iphone/ipad are your friend...
  2. I spent the last 25 years traveling with work. Not real bad when it started, but went to hell in a hand basket after 9-11....I got to the point that I hated it and really did not like it at all. Over the last couple of years I chose to drive if at all possible. I would rather drive from New Orleans to Augusta than fly. Airlines have gotten worse. This is what I found and by means this list is not all inclusive: Fewer flights All flights packed Upgrade opportunities almost nil Seat selection not good More delays because airlines have cut crews and you may be stuck in a place like Atlanta waiting for your pilot and crew to come in on a flight from Newark...you don't leave til they get there More mechanical delays and cancelations Security is a hassle and many times a long wait. You have to get to airport much earlier than in the past Carry on baggage storage is at a premium and if you do not board in first 3 groups you probably do not get to store our bag overhead. People flying have become more rude and self-centered than ever before Lots more but I gotta go. I retired this past April. I still had a few more years in me but the air travel made my decision for me... Good Luck....
  3. Played first time in 7 weeks because of health issues. Played 9 and shot a 47. Tried a new technique since i haven't played in a while. Use 3W off tee and only hit my 7i til on the green... Wish I could have played 18, the mind was willing but the body was in no shape to do so....Hoping to play 9 again next week.
  4. Common sense and manners are dead....Remember, most people out there think the rules are for everyone else, not for them...
  5. Bag, shoes, clubs...probably about $500. But the way I have been playing lately, not very much.
  6. I play with my two younger brother every Friday...Friendly banter and fun, no money involved except occasionally lunch...
  7. Agree with you on this...especially the last statement...
  8. Weigh the difference between scoring a 5 or a 7 ( or higher), that's my decision making process...guy that taught me to play told me to always opt for the shot that gives you best opportunity to avoid Double or Triple. Can't say I always do that but I am still learning.
  9. Anything that wicks sweat.
  10. Who cares if you have respect for him or not? If he is available, you draft him. What about all the other thugs that you draft without even thinking about it...If he is available for my 1st or 2nd pick I will take him. I believe he comes back with a point to prove and has a pretty good year...
  11. Really, Really Shi77y....
  12. Cleveland Launcher DST 3H and 4H are replacements for my 3i and 4i
  13. Bought some irons from Hireko Golf. They are called Warp Speed. Got a 5i thru 9i with R Flex Steel Shafts. Got them 1" over regular length and 1* upright. Have hit them at the range a couple of times and really like them. Scheduled to play a round of golf on Friday with them. Haven't played in about 6 weeks because of ankle issues. However, at the range, they really are nice.
  14. This past January, shot 94 one Friday, then shot 107 the next Friday...Same course, same balls, same everything...
  15. H2O....and plenty of it
  16. Totally agree. I play weekly with my 2 brothers. They insist on playing from the blue tees and neither is under a 15 handicap. I play from the whites because that is my skill level (19 handicap) and at times I struggle from there. As I have aged it has become easy to take their crap and teasing about not playing the blues...I just walk up to the white tees to play and doesn't bother me a bit.
  17. I start with a 9i for probably a fourth of a large bucket of balls. Will hit my 3w about 8-10 times then hit wedges for maybe a quarter of the bucket. I finish up back at the 9i then off to the putting green for about 30 mins. then I am done...
  18. I am uncomfortable when forced to play with others that I do not know. I am a bogey plus golfer and do not play slow, but would just rather play by my self. Especially when you end up getting put with guys that play together a on a regular basis...I just feel like an extra thumb and don't enjoy the round of golf.
  19. I am 66 and retired April 1, but I feel like the joke has been on me. I have had a couple of issues since the first of the year. Late January broke 2 fingers on right hand. Tried to play through it a few times but think all I did was really screw up my complete game. I have been fighting gout in my right ankle for 5 weeks. Comes, gets a little better then comes back with a vengeance. Haven't played in 4 weeks. Last round when gout first onset was awful. Hobbled around the course then gave up after 16 holes. No plans now to play for another 2 or 3 weeks...beginning to think I have some sort of infection and not gout...2 rounds of prednisone did nothing for it. Started 10 days of antibiotics yesterday. We will see how that goes...
  20. Retired as of 4/1/2015...
  21. I hit balls in the trees and OB because my swing is not what it is supposed to be. I have played enough with the SuperSoft that I do have confidence in it and when my swing is good, I hit fairways and find it plays consistent off all my irons and is pretty good around the green. So, I play the ball I do because I am confident with it....It ain't the arrow, it is the indian....
  22. Any experience or opinions on these irons?
  23. Should one that is struggling with his game take a few lessons and spend time at the range before going for a fitting for new irons? If I am mechanically wrong, will I continue to be mechanically screwed up with new irons, resulting in frustration and dissatisfaction with a new purchase, as well as losing confidence in the individual/place that did the fitting? Just asking because I really need some help with this? I am 66, playing with same clubs and shafts for last 10 years. I know I have lost some speed and tempo so probably do not need Stiff Shafts any longer. I can shoot 24 on first 4 holes, rattle off a couple of pars, then back to the bogey, double bogey train in an instant. I guess I am searching for the steps in the process of moving to new irons. I don't have any desire to shoot in the 70's because it is probably not realistic, but would like to be around 90 on a consistent basis....
  24. I am male, 66 years old. Been playing golf for a number of years but not really very seriously. Played maybe once a week with occasional trip to the range. Taken lessons a couple of times. For years was a bogey golfer usually shooting in the 89 to 92 range. Over the last 6 months I have not been able to shoot under 100. Last three rounds were 104, 109, 108... Let me give you an example of what is going on: my go to club from 150 is the 7i. Last week I did not know what I would hit my 7i...one hole hit it 135, next hole hit it 165, next hole hit it 140. It is like that with all my clubs...Putting really has begun to suck...did not 1 or 2 putt a single hole last round...I have decided to just take a month off and see if I can get it together after that... Any advice or direction would be appreciated...anyone else ever go through this?
