  1. Would be either the 6 or 7 iron.... Would depend a lot on the course (long, lots of trouble, etc, etc)
  2. And I thought it wasn't possible for driver design to get any worse than the SQ... The current SQ imo is livable, mainly b/c of it's performance but I can say with confidence, regardless of how that performs, that shape will never fit my eye and I'll never own one.
  3. $28 for sure and usually about another $60 on 2-3 rounds per month.
  4. I have finally gotten to the point to where I can fade/draw at will. My prefered shot is a draw though, and normally only work the ball off the tee unless I'm going for a flag that is tucked in somewhere requiring a fade.
  5. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me as well. I remember going back and forth between the TM and the FT-3 for a while before I finally decided on the FT-3. Have fun with the new driver....it's def. sweet.
  6. I'd get the TM rac OS....I'm a little biased though being a previous owner of the OS2's.
  7. I have the OEM NVS on my FT-3 and lve it. I don't get a ballooning ballflight, but it is higher than my previous driver (TM R7 Quad) with the OEM stiff shaft. I also prefer the more mid/high-torque shaft as I have a smoother type swing. I did have an NV65 and to me that was waaaay too stiff and didn't like the feel at all.
  8. So I decided that I'm going to give my brother my r7 Quad for his bday but need to get it re-shafted. It currently has the OEM R.A.S. stiff shaft which is too stiff for him. His score usually ranges from 97-104, would guess around a 90mph SS, and is about 5'7/8. When he hits his current driver well there is a slight fade to it and carries about 190-200 with a 10-20 yard roll. The more common shot is a weak low push that goes about 180 yards (current driver is Cleveland Sport 410 OS offset 10* with regular shaft). I was thinking he needs a shaft with high torque and a low kick point to help him with his distance and get him some height on his drives not to mention prob have it cut down to 44"s. I figured the Aldila NVS would be a good start but what about from other manuf. such as Accuflex, UST, etc...
  9. Irons: Since Father's Day Driver: For 1.5 years 3-wood: About 2 years Hybrids: 1.5 years Wedges: 1.5 years Putter: about 2 years
  10. Wow, congrats of being successful with something out of the norm. A great school in which my buddies have always raved about is the Harvey Penick school usually found at Golfsmith. Thing about schools/lessons is that they are going to try and change the grip to something more traditional. Let us know how you are progressing.
  11. Usually just one line across the name of the ball such as Prov1 or HX Tour. More of alignment rather than for personal markings. For tourneys, I put three blue dots around the number of the ball along with the line.
  12. I'd vote for TM580XD. Had a Ignite 410 and enjoyed it, but didn't find it as good of a club as the TM.
  13. I can feel your pain and I have known some guys that deliberately keep their handicap high for the same reason as you've stated. I don't know if he was sandbagging with the last few holes, but it sounds like that guy's handicap is a little fluffed as well. The last little tourney scramble I as apart of (for work) we didn't put anyone against each other that had more than a 10 stroke handicap difference (you would have been paired with someone with a handi no higher than 14, etc). Oh well, just take it for what it is, brush it off, and move on....
  14. It usually is the best place, but make sure you research the seller a bit before bidding to ensure no problems....
  15. I get those "MINT" condition balls off of ebay...usually works out to be $20 a dozen (after shipping) for ProV1's and Nike Platinums....most of them come looking brand new as well so I'm not complaining....
  16. I remember there was a course here that was shutting down and I decided to play it one last time. Wow, that was the most miserable experience, the green's keeper decided to be evil and play the cup on every severe angle on all the greens and cut it extremely short. So it meant that if you ever found yourself above the hole, then you can expect to be 15ft or so below the hole if you didn't make it. If you were below the hole, then if you didn't make it, expect the ball to possibly come back down to where you started. Then again, what are you gonna do....complain
  17. You;ll also find, the shaft on a club has a lot to contribute in terms of spin, feel, flex etc. If you have a Golfsmith, go talk to the clubmaker and tell them what you are looking for from the club. Then they'll put you on their monitor, get the numbers from there and make their recommendations. This way your driver will be set up for the proper launch, spin, and SS for your swing.
  18. Think the going rate around here is around $50 or so for peeps that know what they are really doing...
  19. She is hot within her industry but def. not hot (would be dropped down to attractive) when you include the rest of the world.
  20. am I the only one happy that Brazil got beat..... A really good final would be Germany vs. France. Would probably be the most evenly matched final in a long time.
  21. It's a great driver, you should have a lot of fun with it.... Let us know what you think of it when you have "tested" it out
  22. I've had really good luck with Accuflex line of shafts. Also, I have enjoyed the Aldila line as well. Hard thing about recommending shafts is that each person has an idea of what feels good to them and their swing type. Good luck finding the right shaft for you...
  23. Awesome deal....congrats and have fun with them.....
  24. I've had really good luck with buying clubs on ebay. Every club I have gotten off there, I've registered with the manuf. and have not gotten a response for invalid serial. Far as I know, they are all genuine clubs. Like they said above, read the sellers ratings and review the negative ones. As long as you are careful, no reason not to be able to save a lot of money on ebay.
  25. I usually can't spin the ball back on anything lofted lower than 56*. I do get enough spin though to stop the ball within a yard of where it lands on most other shots, which makes me happy. I find when I really need to spin a shot in order to get it to stop, I really relax (to ensure a higher SS) and concentrate on really hitting down on the ball.
