  1. I’d mostly blame the bad lighting and what seemed like a particularly mediocre webcam.
  2. Honestly, I didn't appreciate him enough. I was rewatching videos of the 2006 U.S. Open recently, and he was consistently on point.
  3. Someone says it in the comments, but go to 2:05:45 in that video. Johnny Miller nearly called Tiger's eventual putt to force the playoff. (Obviously, it wasn't to "win" the championship, and Thompson's putt was a little deeper in the green and a little straighter, but still pretty good!)
  4. No real great spot to stick this so I'll put it here: The evolution of Augusta National, as seen through these rare 1950s photos - Golf Digest Like any course, Augusta National has morphed and changed quite a bit through the years, as these photos show The weirdest picture is of the 8th green after the took the mounds away (and before they put them back): Not sure why anyone though that was a good idea.
  5. It still hasn't really sunk in that he did it. I'm not a big Faldo guy, but his line "the greatest scene in golf history, forever" was pretty nice. The whole walk up from the green to the clubhouse was great.
  6. I just got it in yesterday, got through the first chapter so far. (What I think is the first chapter - there's no ToC.) I have mixed expectations based on on interview he did on NLU's Trap Draw podcast.
  7. Yeah, bunker first three days, then in the final round laid way back in the fairway. Left himself like 220 in and missed the green. So different mistake the third day, but another unforced error.
  8. Still bizarre how poorly he played the 5th all week. I know it's a hard hole, and the changes they made specifically impacted guys who hit it his distance, but you wouldn't think he would keep making the same mistake over and over.

Before it sold out, I was close to buying one of these: Ooni 3 Portable Wood-Fired Outdoor Pizza Oven Ooni 3 takes the cost and hassle out of cooking pizza outdoors, reaching 932°F in minutes, and cooking pizzas in 60 seconds. Explore the Ooni 3 pizza oven here.

I've been thinking of getting a pizza steel instead, but it's expensive enough that it's not an impulse buy, so I just haven't pulled the trigger on either haha.

Tried a few other new recipes the last week or so. Spiced Chickpea Stew With Coconut and Turmeric Recipe - NYT Cooking Spiced chickpeas are crisped in olive oil, then simmered in a garlicky coconut milk for an insanely creamy, basically-good-for-you stew that evokes stews found in South India and parts of the Caribbean While the... Spiced chickpea stew with turmeric. I added lime juice, and probably would have used cilantro instead of the mint had I not bought the mint. And I didn't love the kale (though my kale was kind of on its last legs, so that could be to blame). Came out great though. And, obviously, when you have extra mint, there's only one thing to do: Simple Crusty Bread Recipe - NYT Cooking We thought we’d landed upon the simplest yeast bread recipe in 2007, when Mark Bittman wrote about the no-knead approach of Jim Lahey, owner of Sullivan Street Bakery It quickly became (and remains) one of our... Another iteration of crusty, no-knead bread, this time from a different recipe. This one came out yeastier, which I liked, but with a slightly denser crumb, which could have just been my fault. The crust came out amazing though. That recipe makes two loaves. I don't have a pizza stone, so for the first one I used an overturned cast iron pan, and for the second I just used a dutch oven, uncovered. I think the right method is somewhere in between. The dutch oven one needed some more browning so halfway through I just took it out and put it directly on the rack. Classic french omelette. Didn't nail the shape, but the consistency was right. Pasta alla gricia. One of the best pasta dishes I've ever tasted. I nailed the sauce. If you've never seen J. Kenji Lopez-Alt's recipes or videos, he's been doing a video per day for the last few weeks. His spaetzle with kimchi and bacon is next on my list. Heyyy nice! Looks great! I think every time I've made it I've used Yuengling. A few times I've added another half bottle or so - it really starts tasting beer-y haha. Now I stick to one bottle, and if I need to loosen it up I use stock.
  13. Yeah, I think it came out a week or so ago.

I also just made a chicken stew with biscuits that cook right on top of the stew. I've made it twice now, and it always comes out great. Pretty fool proof.

The focaccia rose a little more than I expected, but came out very tasty. The bottom was insanely good. The no-knead bread didn't rise quite enough. I think the dough was a little too wet. Still tasted great though.

I've made wings for the Super Bowl the last few years. Toss with salt and let them sit out overnight, low temp fly, then a high temp fry. Comes out crazy crispy. One of my favorite dishes to make. I like to make it with gemelli. I also got on a carbonara kick a few months ago. Scrambled the eggs by accident the first time, but the second time I nailed it. The last few weeks I've been on a bread kick. First I made focaccia, then a simple no-knead bread. I've got enough yeast and flour for a few more tries too.
  19. I played a TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad for probably longer than I should have. I loved pretty much everything about that thing. The size, shape, look, feel. I just pulled the thing out and i still love the look and feel at address.
  20. This was one of my favorite episodes they've done. I didn't really Tobacoo Road from Southern Pines, Mid Pines, etc. The place looks really cool.
  21. Got nothing else to do!
  22. I've since added, on Netflix: The Bling Ring (possibly the worst movie I've ever seen) and Horse Girl (extremely weird, would not recommend), on iTunes: The Hunt (wouldn't recommend paying $20 for, but not a bad way to spend an hour and a half), and I'm now watching Super 8 on Prime.
  23. HBO Now: Us, Yesterday, The Adjustment Bureau Amazon: Midsommar, Lady Bird Hulu: Sorry to Bother You Netflix: I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore, 6 Underground, just started Spenser Confidential The only one I didn't really love was The Adjustment Bureau. I thought it had a cool premise but was very awkwardly written and directed. And Yesterday's plot devices were pretty meh but the movie was fun and the acting was good. Sorry to Bother You was also a little disappointing. Us was amazing. Midsommar kept me up all night but was worth it. I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore was shockingly fun. I'm not a big Michael Bay fan at all but 6 Underground was sick.
  24. Churning through movies. Cleared out my backlogs on HBO Now, Hulu, and Prime. Now tackling Netflix. Still have the entire world of television to work through!

    Love and Hate

I love making a pitch mark with an approach shot. I hate letting myself down. (Happens all too often.)
