Where are your facts and data to proved that you're correct? .

I am entitled to my own experience. Your opinions are not facts, either. How did Robert Jones hit drives of over 300 yards with a hickory shafted driver and a clearly inferior ball to the modern ball? You technology experts always cite your empirical data with studies sponsored and funded by companies selling, guess what, golf clubs. Or, you conduct a driver distance study with a 60 graphite shafted watermelon on a stick against a persimmon wood with an x100 135 gram steel shaft and wow, the ball goes further with the new driver....duh. I'd like to see someone test with an equivalent shaft in a persimmon driver and see if the difference is more than negligible. In my experience the same ball actually spins less off persimmon. I recently saw a video in which the same driver hit a pre-1900 driver, a 1920's era driver and a TM R11. The difference in all three was less than 25 yards. I'm not trying to convince you, you and Sean Foley already know everything, or so it seems to you. I am stating that based on my own research and experience, there is not that much difference.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, including me. My experience is that I play just as well with hickories as I did with the "forgiving" "modern" clubs. There are USGA and R&A limits on clubs are there not? My opinion is that most of the advertisement about forgiveness and distance is marketing hype designed to sell clubs. They have every right to sell clubs, I'm a devout capitalist, but I don't believe the marketing based upon my experience. When I bought my last set of modern irons, I hit almost everything on the market and found, that for me, not much of a difference in any of them. With the same shaft, they all yield very similar results. With the same loft, they travel about the same distance as my hickories and with about the same accuracy. I enjoy hickories more, so that's what I play. I'm fine with everyone having their opinion, but don't tell me to be cautious with my opinion.

I'm sorry you got all butt hurt over my opinion. It's only my opinion. When did it become your job to policy my opinions. I'll express my opinion with as much caution as I think necessary. Your opinion is just that, only your opinion.

I did not paint everyone with the same brush. I said "most instruction" and I stand by that. I would also submit that you perceive that hitting a golf ball is exponentially harder than throwing a baseball because it has been made so by poor instruction methods. Do you also maintain that hitting a golf ball is exponentially more difficult than hitting a baseball. They don't teach you 8 steps to hit a baseball.

Ok. we disagree. I'm shooting relatively the same scores with hickories that I shot with the "forgiving" clubs. You can actually play low compression balls without worrying about breakage, such as chromesoft, supersoft, wilson duo, wilson zip. I've even played top flite bombs and flawless ladies balls. I've also hit range balls and not broken a club yet.

Reason #12. Most golf instruction SUCKS!! Golf is the only sport I'm aware of that attempts to be taught intrinsically. When we were taught to throw a football or a baseball, we weren't taught 8 positions or x factors or other such nonsense. If I'm wrong, why has the average handicap not improved in the last 100 years??

I like hickory so much that I sold my modern irons. Hit them just as well as the Cleveland Launcher HB's. Makes me think all this "modern technology" and "forgiveness" they're marketing is a bunch of hooey.

There are plenty lefty clubs out there. ebay.com and louisvillegolf.com are just 2 ready sources.

IMO and it's just my opinion, we need bifurcated rules. There do need to be limits on how far the ball goes and how far clubs can hit the ball for Touring Pros to prevent courses becoming obsolete and running out of real estate. The rest of us need all the help we can get. If you're in a sanctioned tournament and hit it OB, you need to re-tee and hit three. If you're out with your buddies on Saturday or Sunday and hit it OB, you need to drop one up there close to where it went OB and hit three from there-You ain't gettin a check and we don't wanna wait all day for you to use the tee as your driving range.

I heard that phone call. As I remember it you hit a fade that you can control. IMO, DP (Dennis Paulson) is correct. A guy with a strong grip who hits a high fade will take your money. I'm one of those guys who gets paralysis by analysis and I'm trying to turn that off.

A-. Haven't seen him drive it that straight since he was working with Butch Harmon. Most say the short game is the hardest thing to get back in line. If he gets that fixed, I think he's in business. His swing looked great to me. Nice to see him be able to rip that 2 iron and ball speed was truly impressive. Like him or hate, more people watch when he's in contention. Say what you want, If he gets his A game back, he'll be the best in the world.

I'm a mixed up golfer. Scratch swing with a 25 handicap brain

When I began looking for new irons about 3 years ago, I tried every iron I could find. Bought 7-9 srixon z945, Cleveland rtx2 wedges. I'm about 12 handicap and know a lot of folks on here would say I should be using a game improvement iron, but I hit them more consistently than anything else I've tried. I think they make the best feeling forged irons on the market, for me anyway. They were built with DG s400 tour issue shafts and Winn jumbo grips. I have misfits but that's my fault.

Played troop north pinnacle in April. BeUtiful scenery but honestly not worth the money. I've heard good things about Phoenician.

I can't hit any driver longer than 43". IMO, most amatuers would make much better contact with 42-43" drivers. Sergio and Fowler both play shorter drivers these days I believe.

This kid is a physics major and has studied the golfing machine extensively. He has formulated his swing based on his understanding of what will work best for him and his physical attributes. Seems to me he has a pretty good team around him, al Jordan Speith. Just love it when a "teachin pro" starts spouting proclamations; they've been teaching the same stuff for the last 25 years and the average golfer still can't break 100, so what does that say about their teaching methods. IMO, about the same as the results of our Federatlized education system-not too good.....

the lofts do not have to be changed.....I'm hitting my irons jsut as far and more solidly than i did before i made them all the same length.......btw, i like my jumbo max grips too, but that's ok, you guys keep playing those $1k irons...to each his own....just don't be hatin :-)

some guys think that anything they're not playing is crap.....guess it makes the feel better about their short "equipment" :-)

He won the NCAA Div I individual title and the US amateur (the 5th guy in history to do that), so I'd say it works pretty well for him...you guys can talk crap all ya want about how it doesn't work, but I can tell you it does work for a significant number of golfers, including myself.

I did butt trim them, just wanted to see if SL was a viable option for me. I'm going to reshaft with frequency matched shafts. 8-SW at 36.5" (lofts of 56/51/45/39/33); hybrids @ 38" with lofts of 27 and 21 degrees, a 15 deg 30 wood @ 40" and an 8 d egree driver at 42". I was play same lofts with conventional length clubs at same lofts and feel that I have appropriate yardage gaps. Driver carry is 270-280 on course.
