Old Driver, New(ish) shaft
Gioguy21 replied to jesusjones's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
yea i found the 'honeymoon' stage again when i put a project x black shaft in my R11...it's fighting my new RBZ at the moment...damn experimenting and successful results lol -
A friend of mine is a member at baltusrol and we have a rule...he pays the greens fees as long as i pay for and tip both our caddies. it works out. if he comes to play with me at my club, he pays for his round since my club has CERTAINLY cheaper guest fees than baltusrol lol

FS: a new, never used, straight from Taylormade upgraded shaft from my RBZ Tour TP driver. As the title says, it's an Aldila RIP Beta 60g XStiff shaft that has a low spin, penetrating ball flight. add a tour quality shaft to your RBZ, RBZ Tour, R11, R11s or R9 series driver...asking $100 shipped to the lower 48. includes the stock grip with 2 wraps of tape. absolutely NO marks on this shaft as it was taken out of the driver straight out of the box.

How consistent should your putting be from 10 feet?
Gioguy21 replied to wmiller's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
to the op...you said your original pondering ? was that if you could ascertain if you had a 'reliable stroke'. to be honest...holing 10 footers, or trying to hole any putt for that matter has nothing to do with if you made the putt or not. get on some flat surface on a practice green and set up alignment sticks, laser pointer, chalk line, string, etc...and walk 'into' a putt over and over. hit down the line every time...that'll let you know if your line and your stroke are repeatable. lining up a putt that you already know goes a certain way does nothing for you...your body knows the 'feel' already of where you need it to go...(can't quite explain it but if you've seen a putt go in...your body can react and make a stroke SIMILAR to it, esp if it was only a few seconds ago) Just my .02. -
with a name like 'softpan' isn't that an oxymoron? can't you just hit down on it like any other shot, thinking ball first (which, shouldn't you be doing anyway?)...since you don't have to worry bout the ricochet bounce as you called it...what's the issue?
-
Tigger...the man hits shots no other human in that specific situation can hit, and in his prime did it with regularity that almost made it common. stupid good.

filter...just once...use a filter before you type. wtf.

i try to break mine up into 'sets' of 3 holes. shoot no more than 13 for those 3 holes. if i shoot less or more, oh well, i 'erase' it from memory and start the next 'set' on a blank slate. best way to do it is let someone else keep your score as well...always helps you focus on the hole at hand, not the previous 10 you've already played.

My first eagle was a double-eagle. hit driver 7W on a 498 yard par 5. boo. ya.

Adjustments on TaylorMade RBZ driver??
Gioguy21 replied to dlance's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
i believe the adjustments are in .75* of changes...ie you move it two clicks and it's 1.5* loft change...could be wrong, haven't checked the site, i have mine set to the first tick higher loft (mine's a 9, x stiff aldila RIP beta 60 shaft) -
got to give a nod to my cally's. i think they were priced out of the market when they first came to retail ($1500/set)...but they're the nicest, smoothest, nicest looking and longest blades i've hit. i know not a lot of people have hit em.

RBZ 3-15 Wood on launch monitor :)
Gioguy21 replied to mrbillinoc's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
i'm waiting on my friend giving me $300 for the clubs he bought off me to pick up the RBZ tour 3W and the tour 3H...i'm sold. i did the side by side with mine and averaged 10 longer with the 3W and 15 with the hybrid. stupid long distance. i cannot WAIT for my driver to get here tomorrow...but since i'm special ordering the 3W and hybrid after i order them, it's gonna be agony. -
i hope this helps, i had shin splints and stress fractures in my shins for the last two years in college (i played baseball, pitcher). i always heated before activity, stretched, and then afterwards went into the trainers for ice. however, at night my trainer told me to use ice massages. get yourself some of those paper dixie cups and fill them almost to the brim with water, and put about 8 of em in your freezer. at night, use something to cut the bottom of the cup off, leaving the ice exposed. rub in a circular motion, up and down your shin wherever it hurts until the ice is gone. do this as often as you like, it will only help. -PG

i'm very interested in these, do you notice the difference in the weight of the grip in the club? i have new decade multicomps (heavier weight grip) and was wondering if there was a noticeable difference. -PG

minds of many...my point is WHY!? you're making a putting stroke standing behind the golf ball and using in essence the same motion you would be using had you been using a short putter. we've already seen how ppl say it's ok to hvae the putter resting on your forearm...so, how does me holding a club that's longer make that much of a difference? i'm not for or against belly/long putters i'm just simply saying that 'spirit of the game' s*it is crap and it's only pertinent when people have their knickers in a twist. if ppl went apes*it about yellow golf balls would they make a motion to get rid of those too since they're not white and in the 'minds of many' they're not in the spirit of the game? if you use the 'spirit of the game' argument, where does it end? my point "why?!" is this: IF THE PUTTER, REGARDLESS OF ANCHORED OR NOT IS GIVING YOU A DISTINCT, QUANTITATIVE ADVANTAGE, HOW CAN YOU OUTLAW OR MAKE ANY BAN ON IT WHATSOEVER? i should've been clearer in my original post. i'm neither for nor against a long or belly putter. if the only reason why ppl think it should be changed is that it's in the 'spirit of the game' to change and not have substantial, clear and data-backed evidence that it's of advantage...well, i'm sure the lawyers could start sharpening pencils or buying pens to get ready for this one.

first bold: laying on the green and shooting pool style would be considered an improper stroke would it not as they aren't standing? also this rule is covered by the rule that was changed regarding the player may not stand aside or behind the ball while making a stroke...correct? (see sam snead croquet style putting) second bold: EVERYWHERE ppl have been saying that putting with a belly and long putter is easier to putt with and hole putts more often than a regular length/style putter...however no anayltics or numbers would show a definitive advantage to using one over the other...
-
the first bold...can you give substance as to WHY they should be banned? or why something needs to be done? the second bold...'should of started playing with a normal mallet like everyone else' hmm...last time i checked one of the stock putters back in the day was a ping anser or something of the like and that's not a mallet, but a blade...and what about all those who started with blades, since you play a mallet...should the tell you 'screw you, start over!' ...walkin a fine line my friend.

i have both a 35" and 50" long putter. my long putter comes to the middle of my sternum and i use my left thumb at the top of the grip and it's barely touching my chest (NO part of the club is touching anything other than my hand). here are arguments i've seen: 'spirit of the game' - i'm calling bs. golf has been so outside the realm of spirit of the game since the metal driver. get real, its not a fair, nor quantitative argument. otherwise, all clubs, all balls, etc would be changed to the original. enjoy your hickory sticks, knickers, and one-off always different in terms of performance golf balls 'improper motion' - really? b/c if i'm in the fringe and have a hybrid and use that to make a putting like motion to get the ball rolling instead of my putter, am i using it improperly ie making an improper stroke? last time i checked you're making the same motion with a long putter, as a belly or short putter it's just the angle by which the putter shaft is in relation to 90*. ie give a short person a 35" putter and a 6'6" guy a 35" putter and guarantee the taller guy uses it more like a pendulem. just sayin. 'unfair advantage to long putters' - last time i checked, it's the indian not the arrow. you either make it or you don't. if i started putting with my driver and had less than 30 putts around are they gonna come after me for that too? also, the numbers don't show as noted in the golf digest issue (dont' have the link but remember reading the article since i own a long putter) that the numbers were basically the same and of no real advantage to EITHER a shorter or a belly/long version. and lastly...the topic of 'anchoring'. define it and STICK by it. too many variations to how ppl define it and obtw, always a way around it. most of the golfing population is comprised of hackers looking to have a good time and better themselves...but they also want to shoot good scores. always loopholes for every rule. and last time i looked, ppl referred to the rules of golf and said, 'the best part about the rules of golf is the ability to use them to your advantage' long/belly putters have been around for too long at this point to make a move to ban them. as for tiger? get over it bro, we all know that if there was a way for you, the king of image and intimidation through appearance and performance...to gain a level over your opponent, you'd do it. oh, you don't use one but think all those guys have an advantage over you? aw poor baby. grow up and work on your putting game as much as your women you'd be raisin a few more trophies. /rant-angry tiger fan over

Do you hover or ground your putter at address?
Gioguy21 replied to Ernest Jones's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
with my 35" putter, i tap...with my 50" long putter, i ground it. helps me lock my body in place, then pendulum away.
