  2. Absolutely. That's definitely been my problem the last two months. I've had to work on backing away because it just made things worse. A 17 is nothing to brag about, but it is so much better than where I was in January.
  3. Well, apparently the code is not valid with this offer. Sorry.
  4. I have a promo code for 50% off (technically for family and friends, so you would have declare yourself my friend ) that should be good until 12/31. This was part of the prize package in the drawing that took me to the PGA.
  5. I do. And I try to make the most of the one day during the weekend that I am "allowed" to play. I perhaps should have quite after the first nine since my scores tanked from there. BUT, I watched my son go 82/80 and hit monster drive after monster drive, playing par 5s driver/5i or driver/7i. From that perspective, it was pretty darn cool.
  6. Apparently not at my course. Until i told them. I had two tee times on Sunday, five hours apart, and play was so slow , our first round was 5:20. Fortunately, we had gotten off early, so we were only 10 minutes or so late starting our second round which ended up being right at five hours. It was brutal. Walked all of it, but spent too much of it in a pissy mood, which is on me and something i need to work on, but it just is not fun to be so slow.
  7. New personal best - Broke 90 at my home course with an 88!
  8. Last Saturday I played and my swing was just completely off. Could not get off the tee for crap. It was a blessing that a thunderstorm came through and and ended our round. I had a lesson with my pro Thursday night and he identified some changes in my swing (my fault, overemphasizing the body turn) and improving my forearm rotation. Spent Friday night at the range in preparation for the club championship. Major fail on Saturday with a 112 - worst score in five months. A lot of tee shots high and right and just nothing felt right. Spent the night at the range. Advantage of being one the worst on day one is getting the first tee time on day two. Everything went great on the range warming up. A lot of that failed to materialize during the round. Despite that, still managed a few great shots, improved short game, and 13 stroke improvement for a 99. Crazy game.
  9. What a fun topic. Son is 6'8", I am 6'4". He is more flexible and more athletic than I, and his HCI is half of mine. But, the only reason he hits the fall much further than I do on occasion is that he is 30 years younger. And I am sticking by that. But all the regulars at the course love to watch him hit.
  10. Okay, I get that distinction. Clearly, I think, the score counts...unless both have agreed to suspend rules. Thanks.
  11. Help me out here, even by saying this is off-topic: If a single cannot post a round for handicap purposes, how can a single playing with a three-some that has agreed to violate the rules (by playing music or any other thing) post a round? If the point of disallowing singles from posting scores is to enforce peer review, that whole concept goes out the window with any agreement to not play by the rules, even if the single is playing by the rules because the other players are now suspect in any peer review they might provide. Am I terribly off-base here?
  12. A lot of work and luck. But still trailing my son who shot an 80 on Monday is trying to break 80 for the first time while I try to 90 and at least play in that range for awhile.
  13. Shot a 91 at Dauphin Highlands in Harrrisburg, Pa (71.9/130) on the way home from our trip to the first two days of the PGA. It was one of those good, easy-feeling rounds. My HCI has dropped about 4 strokes in the last month.
  14. Since my last update, I think all but one round has been in the 90s, including a 95 and 96 this week. Things are finally starting to come together with a little a less chaos in a round. My handicap is now down to 22.2 and trending to 21.1 based on this week. Sometimes I play a hole like I actually know what I am doing.
  15. So, I have had seven or eight lessons since January, so roughly about monthly. My pro plays on the mini tours, trying to get to the PGA tour. Thus during the season it is about scheduling when he is in town. This suits me fine because job is demanding and I need time to practice what he teaches me. Back in the mid-90s I did the five lessons in five weeks thing and it was hard to make real progress. When I do have a lesson it is pretty much a focus on tweaking things just a bit more. Works for me.
  16. Hmm. I wasn't aware of swing speed ratings for the e6, according to my Zepp analyser, my swing speed with driver is around 105. It may be the straightest ball in golf, but I have an occasional swing flaw that will bend it like every other ball out there. I can't say much about their properties as I tend to view a lot of it as snake oil. The two balls play similarly, the e6 may be a bit softer, but I really like the Snell. I hit it high, straight, occasionally draw or fade it (sometimes even on purpose), and it lands well on the green.
  17. I've been playing the Snell Get-Sum (their distance ball). A six dozen pack is $85 making the cost per ball about $1.18 which is not bad for a quality ball. It's probably comparable to the Bridgestone e6, which will run about $2/ball on special.
  18. Mill Quarter Plantation, in Powhatan, Va. Semi-private; demanding, but fair course. Very affordable membership, with a variety of options. Good people, basic snack bar, and a pro that has really helped me a lot. There are few other courses I play for variety around the area.
  19. I have had the Pebble TIme for about a month now. I'm pretty pleased with it and it pairs nicely with my Galaxy S7 and Game Golf Live.
  20. I bought the Pebble Time for $99 and it works quite well for the basic distances without pulling the phone out.
  21. Disaster of a round yesterday of 107. Very little worked right. Timing and balance was way off. Went to the range afterwards, didn't seem to help. Today, turned around after an uneven start (tournament starting on 11) and I ended up with a 92 (41-51). When I got to the front nine I just felt like I was cruising.
  22. I shot a 99 today, after a disappointing 107 on Friday. Basically simply got off the tee better with some decent drives and most of the bad ones were recoverable. Two blow up holes, one on each side, of +4 each. No triples, mostly doubles, with two birdies on the front. Progress of sorts.

    Going to Baltrusol

Much thanks for all the suggestions! We are really looking forward to this trip.
  24. Hey, it looks like I have a pair of tickets to the first two days of the PGA. It will be the first time for both my son (25) and me attending a professional tournament. Any suggestions for making the most of the experience?
