  1. 27 holes feels like the perfect round of golf for me.... I always end up wishing I could play just a few more holes after I play 18.
  2. Hit down on the ball. If you are hitting down on the ball, but catch it thin or fat, you're gonna lose distance, but u'll at least get it airborne. Skullers are usually a result of sweeping/hitting up on a ball and catching it thin.
  3. 6400 give or take a couple hundred is where I try to play. If the tips are 7000, I'll usually play one box up. If the tips are 6400, then I'll play from the tips. I'm not a particularly long hitter, so anything close to 7000 seems unnecessarily difficult for me and kind of loses that fun factor...
  4. I think its so funny that you guys complain about 4 1/2 hour rounds. I'm ecstatic if I get to finish a round in 5 hours. I think 5 1/2 is about average no matter where I go around here...
  5. Thank you everyone for your congrats! I feel like i had my first child. I think I called every golfer I know... Hopefully this is the first of many more to come...
  6. Woot! Woot! I got my first hole in one today. I even have a sandtrap member as witness...wrx_junkie. 15th hole...Douglaston golf course in queens, NY. 180 yard par 3. Took my 5 iron, and hit it pretty flush. The ball just flew off the face and went pin hunting. Hits the front of the green, takes 2 bounces, and gone.
  7. always better safe then sorry...just wait the full day.
  8. how about if the ball lands in an unraked bunker, such as a footprint or club mark? whats the ruling there?

    Walkers??

There's no reason you can't mix it up. I like to ride when play is slow and walk when play is fast.
  10. T-Dub. Classic.
  11. I wonder how much to play with Anna Rawson? 19th Hole?
  12. I've never seen one in the immediate area. I know there are a few golf courses into long island that have grass ranges.
  13. Almost all teaching pros will be willing to give you a lesson on the course. I've also noticed that many teaching pros are often not the best players on the course... Better yet, for what you need, if you have a friend or acquaintance that is a lower handicapper, just offer to pay for his round once or twice if he'll go out with you and give you a few pointers. I followed a fewer scratch players around last summer and it helped me tremendously.
  14. I got my gf a brand new starter set called Square Two Light and Easy last year for $300. It includes a Driver, #3 and #5 fairway woods, #5 and #6 hybrids, 7-PW + SW irons, putter, and cart bag. It's a great set.
  15. i guess they don't teach punctuation in your high school... its real simple. take some lessons. It sounds like you could use some guidance in all of your basic fundamentals. shot 1. slice drive behind trees. shot 2. hit a tree. shot 3. fat iron. then...fall apart? shot 4. hit a flyer with wedge. shot 5. get it on the green. shot 6/7/8. putt putt putt
  16. Your interval/waggle is really really long. you look down, look up, reset, look down, set your feet, look up, look down, regrip.... Jjjjjjjjjust hit it already
  17. My "practice" swings are more of a rehearsal of tempo and balance. Trying to get a feel of a smooth swing and appropriate balance on uneven lies. Usually, if your actual swing is a lot worse than your practice swing, especially for high handicappers, you may be standing over your ball too long before you swing. Make your swing thoughts before you get over the ball. Once you setup over the ball, don't stand there stiff too long. Just make your swing.
  18. I'd rather buy a nice digital camcorder instead...
  19. So I decided to take advantage of the $25 30 min swing evaluation promotion at Golftec today. I hadn't seen my swing on video since last summer so I was pretty excited. I reserved my appointment online through their website. After I clicked 'reserve' the website told me I'd receive an email confirmation, which I never received. My eval. was at 2pm, so I started calling the Golftec location I was going to at around noon to confirm that I was in their system. No one picked up. I left a message on their voicemail, but no one called me back. I just showed up at 2, only to find two Golftec employees sitting around next to the phone. Why didnt they pick up? The website made it seem as though they were booked up and I took the only remaining spot. However, I realized I was the only one there. I got there promptly at 2, but I started at 2:30. The "instructor" asked me some basic questions about my game and proceeded to strap me in. I took a couple warm up swings and then he proceeded to tape me. After one swing, he asked me to come over and look at the screen with him. "As you can see, you are swaying a little bit and you look like you release a little early. Any questions? Try to keep your lower body a bit more quiet." I hit a few more balls. Then he went into his sales pitch. About how he can't properly evaluate my swing in 30 min. That improving your swing is a process that takes time and dedication. That there are many flaws that he feels he can improve. And that there instructions packages are competitive. 3 month. 10 30 min lessons. Around $1200. Uh...no thanks... Basically he looked at one swing, stated to me the most obvious things on the screen, compared my swing to Stuart Appleby, and then gave me a lengthy sales pitch. I felt like I was on a timeshare "marketing" vacation. What a waste of time! I'm sure there are those of you out there that have had good experiences with Golftec...but not me. I'll take a camcorder and swing academy over these guys any day... sorry bout my ramble..I knew I should've just went out to the field today instead... and anyone know the reasoning for them not letting me keep a copy of my swing?
  20. thats awesome. Congrats on the hard work put in and congrats on the hard work to come... can i come over and play?
  21. that $12,500 figure seems ridiculously high. I believe the gps unit that attaches to the golf cart is $500 - $1000. Include the price of new electric carts and you shouldnt be looking at more than $3000 per cart. Something with those numbers seem off. I heard these are popular. www.tothegreen.com
  22. VERY private. I WISH i could get on that course...
  23. Anything 190 yards and longer I like to use my hybrid. Launchers higher and lands softer.
