I would have to give that title to Disciple, ( in the Christian category. ) I'm not much for live shows, but on the scale most people range live performances, it would be some mentally challenged guitar-busting crowd-surfing hooligans. Disciple throws down even more, though.

I believe I've seen them 3 times live now. They throw down.
  3. 20ish foot putt from the fringe today.
  4. I hit my longest drive ever tonight ( this is my first golf season. ) I usually get about 240-260 off the tee, but I've been changing my swing after my lesson yesterday, and today, I ripped one 365 yards straight down the middle of a 475 yard par 5. I still managed to make par, though.... The fairway was extremely hard and after I carried 300 yards or so, the hole starts going down-hill slowly but surely. It bounced like a super-ball.
  5. Good point, but you, them and the other guy aren't pro. Go figure.
  6. Thanks for the video, Mirv. I believe I've seen that before, but may'be I didn't get enough out of it. I usually play the ball back quite a bit, and I know I don't have it to far forward. I am going to try to make my swing a little more vertical, and hopefully that will help me to put a little spin on the ball.
  7. Let me first say that I am in no way a skilled golfer, and this is only my first season, but there is one aspect of this game that I have found quite difficult to understand. My home course is a semi-private course, and the greens aren't exactly perfect. I honestly don't know if they are Bent Grass or Bermuda, but the club pro/greens-keeper likes to burn them a bit so he waters them during the day (is this bad?) If I hit the ball far enough that it lands on the green, it simply rolls over. I guess it might help if I hit the ball a bit higher, but I have quite a bit of forward shaft lean on most shots... Would this make my trajectory lower? I guess my question is.... Is it possible to get a ball to check, or possibly spin back, on a green of this nature. I'm not somebody who want's to distort their distance ( I see a lot of them around here ), just because I want to be able to put back-spin on the ball, but I'm tired of playing links golf in Illinois!
  8. Play what works.
  9. I'm hoping to gain access to a video camera soon, so that I can have my swing analyzed. Keep up the good work TMO.
  10. Adding a video would definitely allow the community to better evaluate what is causing you to hit these, moon drives .

  12. As many other SandTrap members have stated, playing with another golfer who you are not extremely comfortable playing with, could very well lead you to play better. On the other hand, some people do not do well under pressure, but you will just have to find out whether intense pressure is good for you. Congratulations on your progress.
  13. I like to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible on most shots, which leads me to often use a 9-iron.
  14. I am by no means an expert, but I can spot plenty of things in your swing that would lead me to believe that a 20 handicap, you are not. Your Back-Swing is a bit too much. You are going well past parallel. Gradually speed up the club on the way back, and then really accelerate on the way back through the ball. You would probably be able to hit the ball cleaner if it was further toward your left foot in relation to your stance. Don't get to antsy with your knees, it seems like your left knee is making an uneeded movement at the beginning of your swing. Visit your local PGA professional.
  15. I am having this probably as well. This is my first season golfing, so I guess I can't expect anything amazing, but I do so much better at the driving range than I do at the course. My instructor told me that I really don't need more lessons because I am swinging so well, but as soon as I get to the course, I put dents in half the trees. I think may'be I tend to abandon my form on the course, and I am going to really start putting technique as my #1 priority.

    idiot rant

This is a very cool idea for a topic. I cannot say that I have any specific recollections of a time in which somebody just utterly violated course etiquette, but I do have a friend who is very new to the game, that shows very little respect when other people are hitting. First off, I am new to the game. This is my first season of playing golf competitively, although I played a few rounds at the age of 9 or 10 for fun. The sad thing about all this is that people actually think that it is okay to act like that on the course, even if they are new to the game. My friend, who is new to the game, having only played 3 or 4 times, talks every single time I am hitting, whether I am driving, hitting an iron, or putting. He isn't too bad about driving carts where they don't belong. Before I ever stepped foot on the course, I had a little practice, and a decent knowledge of the game, specifically the terms and etiquette. This friend of mine thinks that wherever you hit your iron from, is the place that you are tee'ing from . It really is sad to see all of these people giving new golfers, such as myself, a bad reputation. I am not a great golfer, but I am constantly studying the game, and taking a lesson whenever I can, so that I will not only get better, but be able to move through the course in a timely manner.
  17. Nice Find.
  18. Would it be allowed on the golf course? I went to the range today, and I was killing the ball like this, and hitting it straight. It probably went atleast 250 yards, which at 15 is my best driving distance... Not trying to lie about distance, * I think* it went that far... It went 100%, and I mean 100% straight. I would take the laughs just to get the reward if it would be allowed in a tournament... So is it?
  19. These are just a few of the Grammy categories. Just looking to see what members of The Sand Trap would consider the best in each category. Bands Rock - Guns N' Roses #1 Overall - Guns N' Roses Song #1 Overall - Sweet Child o' Mine Record Rock - Appetite for Destruction #1 Overall - Appetite for Destruction Music Videos 80's - Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen {It's so weird} 90's - Aerosmith - Janie's Got a Gun {Someone near me who is named either Jamie or Janie had a problem with a teacher and her dad shot him. Weird.} 2000's - Fountains of Wayne - Stacey's Mom {It's quite obvious} {Bold your favorite video of all time} Comedy Clean Comedian - Bill Cosby Comedian - Katt Williams
  20. I live in the city, so it is very hard for me to hit golf balls on a consistent basis ( even though I have a fairly large fenced-in yard. ) I can actually hit my sand wedge a very nice distance on my normal swing, and it is the only club I can truly swing in my yard. I have a sand pit in the middle of my back-yard, and I pretend that it is the 'green.' I don't have a lot of trouble getting the ball airborne, but I can't get the ball to raise very much ( when I hit the ball with the descending stroke. ) Is it okay to hit the ball square on a short pitch or chip shot? The logical answer is, do whatever produces your best golf shot, but I want to do it right. I am also not sure what a flop shot is. Can anybody link me to a page or video that accurately describes the shot? My sand wedge is my strongest club so far, and I look to make it even better. Thanks Again - Brent
  21. I'm not very good at all, but based off the videos I've watched, I believe you are taking the club well past parallel which will greatly compromise the distance. Don't take is so far back, and keep your left arm away from your body, so that you come through the ball stronger.
  22. Thanks for making this a very informative thread everyone. This is a thread that many new golfers (like me) can benefit from.
