  2. Think the three rounds a week all year and the extra practice sessions have helped ;) Said to myself once I break 80 I would get fit for clubs so going to look at doing that in the next month
  3. I hit my first sub 80 round in a roll up at my local course last week sunday. Hit a 79 on a par 71, it was a solid round with lots of up and downs. On Wednesday three days later I played the back tees of my normal course, par 72 and hit a 78, for my best round ever, really solid golf, had a triple bogey on the 6th hole and 2 birdies, the rest all pars and bogeys. Really happy with my game, broke 90 for the first time earlier this year and broke 100 for the first time late last year.
  4. My local range has pro tracer. Is nice and seems very accurate. Very handy on days like today when the sky was really grey, I was losing the flight on most my shots so would not have known where they had gone.
  5. 25 mph winds on wednesday. Not too cold. Worth playing? gusting at 40mph...seems lot stronger than I am used to
  6. Not had a lesson in 3 months now but my game is getting better. Been practising a lot less and playing more. Big change I have discovered is staying really connected on back swing, keeping my right arm tucked in, then on downswing letting my left arm leave the chest while right arm stays tucked in. Gives me club such a neutral path, I have not hit a ball OOB in my last 3 rounds, when I used to lose 2 on average a round. Shot 88, 84 (new record) and 89 all in comp rounds. Handicap down from 23 to 20 this year. UK system is so slow for getting cut. The 89 was 9 green in regs, my best ball striking ever, but I have 41 putts, including 5 3 putts and a 4 putt. Thinking about paying good money and going to the best putting coach in the area.
  7. Went on holiday and had a total of 10 days off playing golf. Went to the range the day after getting back and was hitting the ball a bit hit and miss, then played a round the next day. Never felt very comfortable during the round. Had more fats in the round then the last 5 rounds combined. Weirdly I hit 2 birdies on par 4s. I usually only get birdies on the par 3s and par 5s, so that is improvement. I had 5 pars during the round. It was the rest of the holes in which I was very inconsistent, with a score of 98 (my worst in about 20 rounds). No penalties which makes the score even worse.
  8. Can't game golf give you every stat that you can find on PGA stats site? I would love to know my average score on a hole when I am 50 yard away, 60 yards away...150 yards away...200 yards away. Then the same for when I am in the rough and when on the fairway and when off the tee.
  9. Thanks for getting us back in Randall. Gone from joining my first golf club in July 2016 and not being able to break 100, to shooting 84 last week. Hoping to break 80 soon.
  10. Tee off at 10am, looks good atm.
  11. Should have to do it under par or to some reasonable score for it to count As this is for charity I will let it slip this time
  12. We did invent the game If they were all Hungarian, Moroccan, etc, that would be considered weird!
  13. Thanks. I would love a worldwide system to make comparing easier. I believe courses in the UK are introducing slope rating systems.
  14. Handicaps seem very different in UK. I play to or below my handicap in the majority of rounds. It doesn't go down as the course is seen as playing "easy". ie par is 72 but SSS is often 69 or 68.
  15. Mark is one of the largest independent club reviewers on youtube. Really do think it is poor from Taylormade not to reach out to him. Don't think I would ever buy a product new from TM anyway, they do seem to recycle the same gear every year and pay people to say it goes 30 yards longer. Just look at Peter Finch's new video.
  16. I rent the simulator at my course as it is cheaper for an hour on it than it is for 100 range balls. GC2 and always seems very accurate to my course.
  17. My course in the winter is on yellow tees, which are 6000 yards. The par is 71 instead of 72, and CSS is 68, which is what a scratch player is expected to play at. I have broke 90 a few times now, but not sure if it counts due to the course playing so easy! Main thing that helped me break 90? scrambling! I get so much praise about my short game, chipping around the green I am deadly and several times a round I leave 1 inch putts now.
  18. Maybe you are right but don't think I would have much satisfaction from breaking 85.
  19. Yes, Had not broke 110 this time last year, broke 90 for the first time recently.
  20. Having just broke 90 for the first time recently this is my next challenge. My game is a bit different to what a lot of you are suggesting, my short game is really hot as I spend the majority of my time practicing it. I fail to hit many GiRs but I do get up and down quite often from being short of the green. I have really been struggling with my driver and 3 wood, to the point of stopping using them. Often I am using my hybrid twice on long par 4s and par 5s, which is roughly 200 yards a hit. Lacking distance has killed my scoring and I am looking forward to having a lesson this week to address it. The 88 I scored when I broke 90 I didn't hit a driver or 3 wood the entire round.
  21. Hi guys, been working on the swing. Had a few lessons, playing once or twice a week and got down to a score of 20 over par (92 on a 72). But still really struggling with inconsistency. Losing a lot of balls each round, have a bad miss when I come through the ball with a wide open club face and the ball screams straight right out of bounds. Did this on the first tee this week into someone's house...not good when the club pro and loads of people were watching. A dog was barking for the next few minutes :( Any tips? saving up for some more lessons soon but they are expensive to get as much as I want.
  22. Been working a lot on my game, well my swing anyway we won't mention my putting and general short game. taken on the advice of mchepp and this was some video from before my round today. Straight and some of the best contact on the ball I have ever had at start of round. Then it went terrible at end of round, loads of really fat hits with the ball just moving 10 to yards ahead.
  23. Working on this exact same problem at the moment. In my mind I feel like I am getting better and taking the steepness out. But then I video and watch back and realise it is the same as always. At the range I am hitting some lovely irons, straight and long, but this is only a 50% thing, the rest are fizzing left and right. Not the kind of consistently that will ever score well on course.
  24. Struck my 3rd shot to within 10 feet of the hole on the Par 5 last hole, make the birdie for my best ever 9 hole s ofd...really go for the putt and send it 5 foot past, end up 3 putting oops Always the way. +11 on 9 hole though pretty happy, progress is being made will break 90 this year I hope.
  25. That is fantastic just what I need. Going to work on my posture, some nice examples of the greats in your link. Will try keep my hands further forward in the takeaway like Robert and work on solving my over the top tendancies. Hopefully when all these are fixed will be able to post some better scores and a new video.
