if i could could get my putting strokes into the mid 20s per round id shoot under 80 almost every round out. it comes down to i just dont practice putting like i should. its boring compared to hitting fun/ challenging chips or working on shallowing my swing. im in the 38-40 puts per round. literally 15 strokes around given up on putting like $hit. I keep track every round on my putts. i think that will be my goal this year, getting my puts into the under 30 range.

its funny how the cavity back irons are called game improvement irons, they just mask your issues. blades should be called game improvement irons because they dont lie. either you hit it good and they let you know it or you hit it like crap and they really let you know it. 🤣🤣 some on here said it a while back on a different post, "game improvement irons should be called game enjoyment irons." wish i could remember who it was because that is a very accurate statement.

This year seemed a little different. The cup placement Saturday really took the crowd out of it. I get that some people don’t like it with how far it strays from the norm of traditional golf spectating but it is a fun early tournament. The crowd and golfers are getting a touch lazy at 16. Used to see tons of jerseys or fun things from the golfers and the crowd used to do their homework and chant funny nicknames. Will be interesting to see next year if the 16th is taking a turn or if it was just an off year.

I don’t give advice while playing because it drives me F’n crazy when someone wants to try and “coach” me up. Unless you’re shootin 75 or better every time out our games aren’t that far apart. If someone asks I always offer a range day. But not on the course. Even though I’m not into speed golf I’m also not into holding people up

Underrated. A good announcer can make a broadcast enjoyable and the good ones come prepared and sometimes share fun/ interesting info. A bad announcer can easily ruin an otherwise good event. For Chris Collingsworth or Petros Papadakis. There are more those two just jump to the top of my list.

Underrated. For me golf is more enjoyable when my group looks the part. Even if we hack up the course at least look good doing it. i don’t mind if you’re a fashion focused person trying new things(like the pros sporting joggers and high tops) that’s fine as long as it looks nice. It drives me crazy even at the munis when you see golfers in some swim trunks and flip flops or jeans and tennis shoes. If there are some of those on this thread then I apologize but I do enjoy the classiness of golf.

Not exactly the same as hungover but some of my best ball striking outings were after I hurt my back lifting weights. I knew I wasn’t 100% so I was swinging way more controlled. Should probably injure my back more often

I’m not saying anyone has to play anything but I will say I’d rather play a busted up ProV over a diablo or topflite XL 😯 there are definitely some balls that have been around that somehow just worked. The old Nike soft feel, the noodles, the pinnacle exception. Just a few examples of balls that I felt seemed very playable. NXT/ NXT tour to me weren’t as great as their word of mouth reputation. Someone mentioned the AVX. I’ve played two rounds with them, two of my better rounds actually. Seem to fly straighter than either of the ProVs for me but definitely don’t suck back like the ProVs either, more like they stop after the first bounce.

Underrated. As soon as any level handicap player starts hitting halfway consistent chips or wedge shots they will see a difference between the top level balls and cheap hard rocks. Even if the ball doesn’t exactly check up it’s still spinning much more than the distance rock.

Unless something changed he still does sport the nike irons. There was actually a pretty fun exchange between fleetwood and casey. PC had a set of Nike irons still in plastic and fleetwood was freaking out because his last set was wearing out. Fleetwood said PC wouldn’t give in and let him purchase the set, PC responded by saying fleetwood just hadn’t offered enough money yet.

Which Tour Professional Has Influenced Your Game the Most?
CaseyD replied to bkuehn1952's topic in Golf Talk
John Daly. When I first started I always tried to get my club head far enough back on my back swing that I could see the club head. Fred Couples is probably my favorite player though. -
I have a goal of getting to a certain skill level that includes certain scores, but the lower I shoot the more fun I have 😂

Overrated. As a viewer it seems as though there are a lot of times the pros over analyze a shot trying to be too perfect and leave the shot hanging way out to the right or over cook a draw. I would say spin is the most important out of all mentioned. A golf ball is 1.68 inches. Even in the narrowest of fairways you should be able to hit whatever shape shot is your shot.

Shot an 85. Left a 78 on the course. 4 holes cost me.
-
We play either of these two; $1 a hole straight up, pushes carry over to the next hole or $5 lowest front score, $5 lowest back score and $5 lowest total score. No handicaps, we are all pretty equal. It’s not so much the money that we play for it’s the shit talking that you had to pay money. And we will let the rest of the group know just how good lunch tasted the next day cause it was free.

That’s fine we can disagree no hard feelings Just keep this in mind, there is a reason that pretty much every major college offers sports psychology. And lots of major athletes in lots of sports pay lots of money for sessions with them. And I don’t think many amateurs are standing in line for an appointment

Amateur level overrated pro level, including top level college players underrated. Amateurs are way behind skill wise so of course the mental toughness/ focus isn’t that big of a factor, hell most of us talk or have music going during our shots, or can hold a business conversation while playing. A pro hears the smallest sound or sees a little movement and has to step back and refocus. There are numerous examples in different sports where mentally the top level athlete checked out or had a mental block and couldn’t perform. I can think of 4 number 1 ranked golfers right now that had a mental block that they had to overcome and a couple never overcame it. Plus baseball players, UFC fighters. It’s not just course management or making the right shot decision it’s being able to calm your nerves and deal with the adrenaline. Ive seen two professional athletes struggle to literally place a ball on a tee in a long drive competition in mesquite due to nerves. To say the mental game is overrated is just not accurate.

It’s funny you’d say this and then write this........... There are tons of extremely talented golfers that don’t make it due to folding under pressure and that is 100% mental.

This was my first favorite player back when my dad and I were first getting into golf. He was a really bad example for new golfers. His swing was so chill and hit the ball for some distance. Then my dad and I would go hack the shit out of the local baseball field and think wtf, Freddie makes it look so simple 😂 should have known then I’d be in for a lifetime of frustration. We got started around 1992. You’d think I’d be a lot better by now 😤
-
This was very reminiscent of the early UFCs before Dana White got involved. Very raw, unorganized seeming. The potential is there if it can survive a couple mediocre airings.
-
Their own money would be way more enticing. The 9 isn’t from their pockets and I’m pretty sure the side bets will be worked just right by their CPAs to go down as write offs/ donations. But yea iacas I’m with you put your own money up and things change in a hurry
-
All we are missing is the two of them holding hands walking down the fairway😡 come on on guys let’s see some action

That line is best answer out of this whole thread. I might change “problem” to “difference”. Everyone has a different agenda when hitting the course and unfortunately not everyone’s agendas line up causing “differences” in time management on the course.

Re-gripping (graphite) Prince Thundersticks?
CaseyD replied to dwlawson's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don’t see why you couldn’t get a modern grip over the butt section. Unless what you have is differnt than what comes up On search results. The grips definitely look like “wraps” but they seem to be one piece.
