Cove Cay is a nice course, I've played there several times. So it's not a surprise, you will have to stop at security at the entrance. Just tell them you are playing golf and they will give you a pass. Clearwater CC on N. Betty is also nice. A decent Muni in that area would be Largo GC on Vonn Rd. http://largo.com/department/division.php?fDD=13-196 East Bay GC tucked away off East Bay Dr is also in that area. FWIW, Chi Chi Rodriquez north of the airport (580 / N. McMullen Booth) is usually very busy in the winter season and is a favorite of the Canadian snowbirds so, it may be tough to get on.

Do you match name brands in your bag?
CT207 replied to jmanbooyaa's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I match everything... all the clubs are Cobra as well as the their bag, towel, head covers, etc. Everything is yellow and black in color too right down to the DD2 grips and ClicGear cart. This probably sounds like an anal thing to do but, the equipment does "stick out" on the course and seeing that I normally play at one course just about everyone that works and plays there knows my equipment. So, if I do lose / forget something I'll probably get it back. It happened when I dropped a 3 wood head cover. -
FWIW Clicgear may still have reconditioned units for 139 bucks. http://www.clicgear.com/cgi-bin/usa-...cgear_Cart;d=1 I have two Clicgears and really like them. I'd rather walk with one of them instead of riding in a cart.

Just bought bushnell neo on ebay
CT207 replied to binga7's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
If it's a complete package then yes it should have a 120v plug. That's the way my came. The GPS unit, software CD, power cord and 120v plug. I haven't lived in AU since the mid '60's, is it still 240v / 50Hz with those weird shaped plugs down there?? The US Neo will have a 120v / 60Hz plug.... hopefully you'll have an adapter to make it compatible. -
How easy/hard is it to regrip you clubs.
CT207 replied to Mrd19abhs's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I replaced my first 2 sets of grips last year, both graphite shafts, and I thought of the same thing. What I did was as I securing the shaft in the vice I used a laser line level to align those index(?) marks and then made a mark on the shaft for realignment of the new grip. Probably a little anal on my part but, I wanted to get it right. The first set of shafts I found were a bit tough getting the old tape off but, about half way through I began using a heat gun (carefully) on the old tape and they peeled off very easily. The second set of shafts I did went very quickly once I figured things out and gained the confidence. -
I agree with Shorty and others that it’s just a guide. But FWIW, I’ve purchased numerous clubs from the 3Balls website. Both sets of irons arrived with nearly all of the irons (unhit) still wrapped in the factory plastic on the heads. The drivers, fairway woods, putters were received in very good to like new condition and headcovers were included with all of the woods instead of selling those separately for several more dollars which I venture a guess other places may do. (3Balls does note if a club comes with a cover or not) No complaints here concerning their rating, pricing or products and I’ll continue to purchase equipment from 3Balls in the future. OTOH, I purchased a pair of Vokey wedges from another famous “pre-owned” site that stated the Vokey’s were in good condition. One was in OK condition but, the 54* had a well worn grip and had a sharp edged gouge / dent on the front leading edge of the sole. It was like it was hit into a steel edge or something similar and I have no idea how this even passed a visual inspection. I e-mailed the company waited, and never even received a reply so, I ended up filing down the sharp edged gouge, used the club for a few months and then bought other wedges from 3Balls.

I guess I have no etiquette..... I usually play alone (weekdays, I rarely play weekends) and when I come upon a slower group I'll sometimes play two balls. I can't go anywhere so I'll hit both a low and a high compression ball just to see the differences. Maybe change / experiment with grip position, stance, etc. Around the green I may practice some putts or chip a little to try to improve the short game. Generally there is no one behind me. Although I've never asked, I've had the slower group ahead ask me if I want to play through and my usual reply is "I'm in no hurry, I don't have to be to work until 3" I can recall accepting the offer of a play through only once......

Someone got me before I got into golf. They rear ended my M/C on an interstate one night and kept going. Yep, I remember lowsiding then highsiding and then seeing the tops of small trees before slamming into the ground. Bled to death in the median (spleen exploded) but, the hospital was just off the exit so, they were able to get me get me going again after some fast work and 3 "jumpstarts" of the heart. I hope you're able to recover quickly. It may take some time getting back into golf though.....

Similar happened to me last week.. I hit a drive off the tee, watch it land about 200 yards out and roll towards the ladies tee of the next hole. The fairways parallel each other and besides some longer cut grass there is no rough as a divider so, I saw where the ball went. There were 2 high school aged kids teeing off from the ladies tee. As I approached the area the two kids looked at me as I went past and I noticed them laughing to one another as they continued down the fairway. Anyway, looked for my ball and didn't find it. I dropped another ball and played on. I finished up, went into the clubhouse, got a cold drink and sat down and striking up a conversation with an employee I sometimes play golf with. The two kids were there but, I made like I didn't notice them at the table behind us. Employee: "So, how'd you do" Me: "Very good until someone picked up my ball on the 5th. It was probably the two guys I saw teeing off from the girly tee on the next hole instead of the manly tee 100 yards back" Employee: "Did you ask them?" Me: "Nah, If they need a Pinnacle with a Boy Scout logo on it maybe it'll help with their honesty". The two kids suddenly got up and left... LOL

I started walking when my physician said I should get some exercise (high cholesterol) so, I started walking / carrying and liked it but, it was a little too much on the back so, I switched over to using a Clicgear push cart. I really enjoy walking over riding around in a golf cart. I find myself thinking of the next shot, paying more attention yardage markers, etc..... not that'll help MY game any. Website bookmarked, Thanks Doc

Not my first but, the most memorable one for me was a par 3 150 yard shot over water to a green with water along its front and right side, a stream / wetlands to the back and bunkers on the left. The tee shot ended up about a foot and a half from the hole after a short roll. I think that's the closest I'll ever get to a hole in one. LOL Congrats on yours.

How did you get into the sport: Our daughter began playing on her HS golf team, then attained a job a the local golf course. She wanted company on practice (and at that time a ride to the course) so, I figured what the heck, I'll give it a shot. How old were you when you started playing: Somewhere in the around 53. How long had you been playing before you got your first H'cap and what was it: Don't have an "official" handicap, in fact I never kept any scores until recently and even now I just toss the cards out after the round. I just play for the enjoyment and exercise.

Although I carry a bunch of standard wooden tees and use the short ones for iron shots off the tee, for the driver I use a tee called 4 Yards More. They're plastic and have 6 plastic prongs that support the ball and inserts to the same height everytime. I happened to find one of these on a tee box one day, tried it out and got hooked on using it so, I bought some. These are the ones... http://www.scorelow.com/item--4-Yard...ARDS3INCH.html I have some of those big round brush tees too but, I haven't really grown accustomed to using them.

I wear prescription Oakley's (Tightrope I believe) that are iridium coated and double gradient. I like wearing the Oakley's on the golf course because things appear clearer / brighter and easier to see. The ball seems a bit brighter when it's in the grass. Plus, they're a "single" prescription. Last week I was wearing my regular glasses that are transitional bifocals.... I had the worst round of golf, I guess I had a hard time focusing on the ball!!! LOL.

My doctor said I should get some exercise so, I stopped riding and began carrying / walking. That started to get tough on my back so I bought a Clicgear 2.0. and I get a lot of positive comments / thumbs up when I'm out with it. OTOH, it may be due in part to everything being color matched.. LOL. Yellow Clicgear, black & yellow Cobra bag, headcovers, towel and Golf Pride DD2's. I think you'll really enjoy the 2.0. I thought the 2.0 was so nice I bought one for my daughter.

A medium coffee if it's an early morning start, after that it's Gatorade or water.

The doctor said my old body needed more exercise so, I use the Clic Gear 2.0. I was carrying for a while but, the push cart has a holder for my morning coffee and a small "glovebox" for extra balls, tees, other small odds & ends plus a spot for a scorecard which makes things a bit easier. The course I play at is very hilly and I don't have any problem using the CG 2.0.

I'm planning on playing 9 at Sunset before I go in to work at 3 on Friday, maybe squeeze another 9 in on Saturday. I have a scheduled tee time for 18 on Sunday at Richter with my daughter and on Monday I'm off but, I haven't made plans yet for that day.

Couldn't you go onto Bing or Google maps and capture the satellite images of the course holes there and then Photoshop them to your document?? Just tossing out a suggestion...... I really do know much about this type of computer stuff.

It was a Cinderella story, first time at this golf course, the 18th hole, a small pond just out in front of the green and looking at about 265 yard relatively flat shot straight to the pin. The guy I was playing with, Ed, pointed out that if I could drive the ball over the shorter of the two little maple trees, about 150 yards out, the ball may run up between the two sand traps and onto the green. I tee up a ball, pull out the driver, address the ball and yup, I tried to kill it. The ball took off, cleared the pond, and then took a hard right towards a barn that was about 100 feet long. The ball went right between two pine trees, over a piece of golf course equipment and into the ONLY open door on the whole structure ending with a very loud bang. Ed said “Oh man, I hope there wasn’t anyone in there”. I took a couple of cellphone pics while Ed headed up to the barn. As I was approaching the barn Ed was pointing in the door and exclaimed “I think he’s unconscious!!” . I started running towards the doorway and Ed says ‘ Nah, I’m only kidding”. I have no idea what the ball hit but we found the ball in the middle of the barn on the ground at the right rear of a John Deere Gator. Ed says “Well, you can’t play it from here, just toss the ball back onto the fairway” which I did. At the end of the hole Ed asked “How did you score that one?”. I replied “I put it down as a barn in one because you don’t often see hard shots like that being made”.

Being a parent of a teen golfer I'd have to say I'd buy her whatever she wanted to play the game. She's currently on her HS golf team (last year though) and has a mix of Ping & Cobra equipment. I've offered to "upgrade" what she has but, she said no. When we do play I always pay for the round and whatever. She'll occasionally buy a round from the traveling refreshment cart though. LOL We don't get out for a round as much as I'd like to but, being a teenager she's busy with school stuff and planning for college, etc which is great. Plus, I know that her working at the local muni golf course here has her burned out during golf season so, I guess that doesn't help the matter.

I frequent the Clearwater / Pinellas County area. I'm on the plane at Westchester at around 0800, arrive in Tampa just before 1100 and then by 1230 playing 18 for warm up practice at Largo, a muni. After that we try to get in rounds at Cove Cay, Clearwater CC, The Tides, Chi Chi Rodriquez, East Bay, etc. If there's a chance of a weather issue we just check the BayNews 9 site and plan accordingly. If there's a chance of rain in the southern part of the county, we go north or vice versa.... but, we've rarely encountered rain and even when it does it's only for 5 - 10 minutes and the sun is back out.

That's only if it stops raining this year!!! I woke up a short time ago to pouring rain yet again! In the winter months I head to FL for a couple of weeks and a sporatic week or two whenever I get bored of being in the N/E. About a month or so ago I finally got my nephew to take a trip down. We covered 5 different courses of 18 that week... tried for 6 but Chi Chi's was booked solid for weeks. LOL .
