Lead tape to add a little to my PingZing2 putter - and it made a positive difference so far.

Digging and planting my garden, I try to expand it a little each year. Last Thursday, I played 18, first golf this year after a winter that rained buckets. and the course conditions showed that.

I love nailing an iron shot to the pin and that could mean 6ft or 20ft and 90yds or 140yds. Watching the shot land hot and sit. I hate the exact same scenario, only to be a club short (usually not long it seems)

I selfishly breathe a huge sigh of relief. Normally, we welcome folk from the four corners of the world with open arms (a lotta local people make a lotta $$ MastersWeek) but this year, I've been dreading since I first heard of this trouble. Presently, the CentralSavannahRiverArea is free of the very real threat of a more populated area. Imagine how much it would affect area if the thousands were here on every corner, course, restaurant, homes and local festivals. Sorry but it's proactive action like the others now.

I would imagine he's got one thing on his mind - a major at his best chance to win one - the AugNationalGolfClub. It would be a shame if he was injured this time of the year, ask DustinJohnson. Here in AugustaGa, we've had more days of rain than clear since Dec. Almost 2 ft since first part of Dec. We got 2.5" yesterday, rained for 4 days straight. Pretty sure the 'creek' is up out there so it will be limited play before the Masters if it keeps up like so far.

I understand off topic (and expected this), just keeping with the flow from previous several posts before answering the question. Yes, many more better examples, not much more $$ exampled though. Basketball was rather over the top; everybody knew what USA had and what USA could do with the NBA team.

at one time, the games were for the amatuer athlete. Now I don't know about no Ruskies, Czecks, or anybody in a different society, but the USA teams were amatuers that made no $$ off the sport. It was afterwards that they went on the Wheaties box and made the spoils. Me thinks it was the politics of the matter of the easterns were wearing our asses out on the basketball court that started it all and it kinda snowballed, with all these elites wanting a medal on their chest, like they didn't already have a mantel full (plus the multi-millions). Some of these skipped the college work to make immediate $$ and although each had done some amatuer status of some sort at some point and each had 'paid the dues', I saw no right to play the games (in the original concepts). If we picked the kids, the jrs, the amatuers, I would appreciate it. As for the question, since these changes, the games make little difference to me; I'll take the Masters Tournament. and I've been attending since GeorgeArcher won it...

Suggestions for Comfortable BOA Golf Shoes
burr replied to cnl390's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
maybe because it was like you, just out of curiosity. I also did not have any idea until I googled -
It only depends on which course that I enjoy, feel more comfortable, and ultimately score better. I pass more than one course on the way to my home 35 minutes away now.

I just watched the video so ... Sorry, just cant see it (so to speak). So, a score in the low mid 80s, yes? Tee to green, if you've ever watched any of the Robin williams youtubes, is conceivable. Putting is not mentioned. As much as Rory misses the 3-5 footers (seems to me like a bunch), I can't agree with putting without visual feedback. Thirty footers require 'seeing the line' so if one yanks the blinfold off as soon as contact is made, maybe. But if blinfold is applied and held until ball is settled, It would just be impossible to feel how a putt with certain circumstances (lengths, breaks, uphill downhill) would act. or how 'bout 50 footers or those slick 3 or 4 foot downhill breakers that require touch or a firm confident putt that may go 5' past if missed. Whatever is said about the long game and how important it is to score, the putt has to go into that little hole. One question for me would be championship tees (7000+ yds) ? That'd be a major factor for a 15 I'd say. Iacas is confident, have you ever played a hole blindfolded in this fashion ? or putted ? Tell us about it.

I dont understand this answer. When I started back, a friend suggested 'Noodles' and those are a decent ball, goes straight, and priced where a 20+ could afford to lose several during a round. I was needing more tho as they have little touch on second shots or close chipping. A good ball for the $$ I found a 'Supersoft' one day and played it 16 holes and was amazed at the difference even a mid-high handicapper could experience. I was immediately sold on this (actually several year old model ball that is not the latest greatest $40 ball) ball with theaction it produced; 15-20 yards off the tee straight, second shot feel that stuck, and even a softer putt. I am still using this intermediately priced ball, I just don't see an improvement with the pro-v or the TM, I can't keep them from tailing off a little on tee shots. Now some of this could be improvement from time on course but I could immediately feel a difference. I'm not improving so much with the numbers yet but I am shaping my game to a round with potential (and by that I mean lower mid 80s), or a round that strays if penalties come into play. And the ball had significant input for this mid-capper, one that is at that break 90 level.

My goals are to improve score through more time on the course. I hope to play more and different local courses, and this will mean either solo or pick up some partners from the past. I've been trying to hook up with these good ole friends from last century and only been able to a couple times. We trying. My steady partner has fallen in love with my home course and does not need more; he's looking for some consistancy and a familiar setting is good for this. I need some variation at this point and since he can't play but maybe twice a month (I've been playing solo at this course when he can't break free), it gives me space to play more at different courses. Down here, we have an abundance of really good golf at fair $$ and no crowds. (I'm so happy I took the game back up) Also goal of finding a putter and a 24 degree hybrid (used), probably from BonaventureGolf.

obviously the groups were backed up Saturday morning ! ☺

I think maybe the intent of a driving range like this one is to get rid of all the extra balls picked up during rounds. I play with a 102-106 (score not age) gentleman so we spend time up and down the fairwayslooking for his drives and it adds up rather quickly. (he also carries one of those extending ball retrievers!!) The intent of a driving rangre of this type is sending not retrieving. When one has to walk out that way, he takes a bag with him and gathers the ones that stick out, no ? Doubt there is too much effort reaching for that one down in the blackberries... at least at mine

Course Management Strategies to Break 90

I'm not the one ripping anybody, just pointing out the facts. I'm not a drive by, I have a comment early in this discussion, it apparently was not prevalent as to have reply. It was simple. I joined this place since I was re-starting golf as a recreation after 16 years away to learn about new equipment and anything I might need to enjoy the game more. I also am not one to comment on ever little issue that I might have opinion, seems to be plenty of that without my 2cents. But believe me, I am here from time to time. top of this forum states 'course management strategies to break 90' and I am in this particular point in my game. OK? sorry for the defensive attitude, I am not used to commenting back for such but ... -

How Many Golf Balls Do You Lose Each Round?
burr replied to ChetlovesMer's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I'll say closer to 2 or 3. My home is extremely frustrating at the first two holes of the course. First hole, water on left will only catch the first hole snap pull off the first tee (not loosened up AND avoiding the dreaded push), rare but it does happen. Range runs up the right side of #1 so if you push just it a little right ... #2 has water on right and across the full fairway. Tee shot has to be less than a clean 3 wood. Usually I can hit a fade 3 wood perfect but lately, I've found some of my distance and bounced a great shot into the water (dead ahead left to right) more than once. Ima have to start using the 3 hybrid. So I'm struggling right off the bat at my place with penalty strokes ever where if I don't watch out (and the lost balls for my round). So on #3 par 5, I'm usually pretty hot on the teebox and have to settle down. When I get thru this, I'm good (happy) from then on ... -
Good Low Price, Low Compression Ball
burr replied to cnl390's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Calloway Supersoft (and you won't lose as many). I'm 63and maybe 18hcp, added distance and accuracy for me. -
Thursday; par 5 500ish yd uphill to a slightly elevated large flattish green, middle back pin. Laying 2 in a fairway bunker that I may not have ever been in before (and this is my home). 8 iron, 88 yds judged by my looking over at the hundred yard marker. fluffly lie, good square flat stance with a chest high front lip, uphill to the green. I've rarely hit a shot like this from a fairway bunker where you're gonna need yards, not just a clean sharp stroke. This could be in the pure shot thread, it flies to the green (over a trap), hits and settles about 15 ft on the short side for birdie putt. (of course, I three putted for a bogey)
-
par3 135yd slightly uphill big green, pin placed middle left, tee shot stopped 10" left side of hole after checking up about 30" in front of hole, tap-in birdie. Maybe the highest priority in my game today and since I started back to playing after 15 year layoff is an ace. This shot was one of those that is normally 15 ft after getting up to the green and it looks close on the teebox (because of the angle).

Course Management Strategies to Break 90
burr replied to Hugh Jars's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
And for this shot, I have found that my 3iron using a ' 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock ' swing will achieve results very consistently, mostly 100 yards advancement thru small openings and under branches (since it is by far not a full swing). Only reason I have the 3 in my bag but I'll need it for this reason a couple times a round. (and this is because I love hitting the big 'D') and to add my 2Cents, I'm around bogey golf. I have discovered that about the only thing keeping me at this level is time on course. If I had time to play more (or physically could play more without pain), I'm sure the strokes would lower. A major factor for the bogey golfer is penalty strokes. Eliminate penalty strokes and (just mathmatically) scores lower.
