Anyone have seen or tried the new (illegal) Lynx ball for junior?? Why you should give this juiced (and illegal) golf ball to your kids This golf ball is non-conforming, smaller and lighter. But that's because it's designed to encourage newcomers to the game of golf.

Where i'm living it's 5-6 month of golf per year. Now that the kids are growing up, it's harder to play golf on the weekends because of all their activities. I'm trying to introduce them to golf but it's hard for young kids. So my trick is to wake up early and go play before work in the weekdays. I also go to the driving range during my lunch time at work. It help that I have a flexible schedule at work! Also, a round of golf for birthday gift if you have friends/family play golf, the wife cannot say no when it's a gift and you have to go with them!! 😄

I agree that the majority of canadian population lives inside 100 miles of the U.S border. As for the Quebec province (can't talk about other places in Canada), I have few option for a public golf club that is affordable and decent inside a 1h drive. A couple of golf courses near me are private, very expensive or have just closed in recent years. Of course, if i'm willing to spend between 60-80$ CAD to play a round, there is more options available but I won't be playing a lot of rounds if I pay that much for a round of golf. I manage to found deals and promotion but you have to search for it. Maybe it's a misconception but I had the feeling when I went to vacation trip in the U.S that you had more affordable option for golf.

You have so much more courses in the US then in Canada!! It's crazy. I would love to have that many choices nearby. We have less courses in Canada. The closest course to my home is 20 min but it's expensive for what it is so I never go there. Other than that it's at least 30 min aways (1 good course but a little expensive) at best, going to 1h15 for more option (about 6-7 courses at 1h15 from home) For a special course I could drove 2h to get there i guess.

Kijiji and Facebook marketplace is more popular than Craigslist in Montreal definitively. I'll be on the lookout for used set, but right now in the middle of the winter, there are not many for sales. Probably at the end of the winter when people buy new sets for their kids, there will be more for sell and i'll have a better chance of finding a used set for my son. Until then, i'll borrow clubs when going to the driving range. My father in law also have a set with graphite shaft that he doesn't used anymore. Maybe I could take an iron from that set and cut it for my son. He probably wouldn't say no for his grandson 😊

Thanks for all the good advice. I think i'll borrow the shortest club at the range and bring him once or twice and if I see that he really loves it purchase some club for him. U.S Kids club seems very nice, it's just a little more expensive in Canada (75.59$ before taxes with shipping 😫). I don't know at that point if i just borrow club for now and buy a used set when he is a bit taller than right now. I'll see. I've seen used set for kids around 50-70$. I also have a plastic set for kids that he already used at home during summer but it's pretty cheap and beat up 😄

Hi, I have purchased a used set of kids club for my daughter last years (she is now 6 yrs old) and go to the driving range a couple of times a years with her to hit some balls. Right now she basically just hit her 7 iron and told me her driver is too hard to hit. At that age i just focus on making contact with the ball and let her have fun and don't bother much about technique, Now my 4 yrs old son wants to come with us and wants his clubs!! The problem is that my daughter is left-handed and my son is right-handed so he can't used her club (also they are a bit too long for him). At the couple of driving range I went, they had kids clubs but they seems to be a bit too long for him. The only time I had a club with the good size for him was when I went to a driving range last summer and they had course for kids going on and the teacher let me borrow the smaller driver he had for him to try. From what I see with my daughter, probably a set with a driver, a 7 iron and a putter will be enough for him at his age. It is hard to found used kit online for that age, usually the kids or junior set I see is for 7 yrs old and older. And if i buy only one club, do I buy a driver or an iron?? Also, I don't really want to purchase a set at over 100$ since I don't know if he is going to like it enough to be worth it. Do some of you guys had the same or similar situation with young kids?? Any advice will be appreciated!

I think it all depends on where you are with your swing and what you want to achieve. I agree that distance is important and gives you a big advantage when having a short iron for your second shot, but when I was trying to break 100, the driver was probably costing me too many strokes that it nullify that advantage. At that point, playing a round with or without the driver didn't make a big difference on my score because my swing wasn't repetitive and efficient enough. I'm now shooting in the low 90/ high 80 and with a swing that is more consistent(not enough yet but still!), the driver is more predictable and a great tool when I don't slice it. I can say that at some point when I was trying to improve, accuracy and reliability with my irons was more important (at least to me) than hitting my driver farther. Now that i'm a little more predictable with my irons, I would like to add extra yards to my driver!

Me what is driving me nuts is when i'm working on my irons, my driver swing regress and when i'm trying to fix my driver my irons regress... 😤

I've noticed recently that my weight was too much on the toes. I was wondering if this can result in spinning out?? I've adjust my setup to have a more balance weight distribution and my contacts are way better with the irons, I have less fat shot and finish my swing more balance. I'll focus on that and when it will be fully integrated in my swing, i'll work on my out-to-in swing path.

Best score to this date!! I was thrill since I struggle in the last couple of game with weight to much in the toes, that result in rounds in mid 90! On top of my 81, I missed the no 6 challenge with only 1 par 4 that I shoot a triple on it! The Canes have to match it. Aho is their best player and only 21. Basically Montreal force them to sign him at a higher price than anticipated. As a Canadians fan, I would be thrilled to have him, but I don't think it's going to go that road.

I've just finished the book. I like the practice and game management section. Some solid advice that I've started to use right away. I kind of don't take the time right now to chart my shot zone since I cannot go to my balls at the range and I rarely play alone to shoot 10 balls from the same location, but I know my tendencies and approximate yardage with my club to use it to some extends when planning my shots. I will have to take the time to do this at some point. I've started to use foot spray on my club face and it help a lot when practicing. Also, the advice to aim for the middle of the green on approach shot and even with sand shot (forget the flag, put in on the green!) help. I don't take lessons and that practice section will help a lot to be more efficient with the limited practice I have. So overall a good buy, that I will definitely read multiple times in the future!

Shoot 82 today, my lowest score ever 😊 43 - 39 I've achieve a 2019 goal by doing that : play a nine under 40! I'm also in a good path to achieve another goal to play more frequently under 90, this year first 6 rounds : 87-88-85-85-87-82

It arrive last Thursday. I'm at chapter 12 now practice plan. So far there is good information that summarize what I read here and there but having it at one location is a good thing. The practice and strategy portion is what is interesting me the most so i'll post my though on it once i'm done.

When out yesterday and played 88. Again the greens where not ready but overall I was happy with my ball striking. Working on my driver that launch too low but at least it was straight. Without greens the putting is not relevant so I hope they are ready soon.

I'm averaging near 90 too and change my irons last year after 8 years. Have gone from beginner set iron (john daly cs91) to TaylorMade RocketBladez. The swing flaws are still the same but i've gained 10-15 yards with those clubs and are a little more consistent with my misses. It can help to change but that haven't improved my scores that much. In your case TM R7 is way better than my john daly was so if I were in your shoes I wouldn't fell the needs to change right now.

I've ordered my copy yesterday, should arrive in 2 week. I've been wanting to get that book for a while but the shipping cost of ebay for canada is horrible! But with all the good comments on the book, I've decided that It was worth paying a little extra for shipping!! Can't wait to read it.

First game of the year this Sunday. Had a good round for the first of the year. I Shoot 87. No greens where playable so they made temporary holes on the fairway in front of the greens. I manage to sink a 10 foot put for a birdie on a "fairway green". It was the more stress-free birdie put of my life! 1 birdie, 4 par, 10 bogie and 3 double bogie. I'm happy with my iron ball striking, driver is too low but straight so it's looking good for this year.

The course usually open in beginning of May but we have a lot of flooding in the area and a couple of course is hit by that so opening is postpone 1-2 week there. I will try to have my first game of the year in the first week of May, if I can squeeze a round somewhere!
