  1. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I often consider, and many times, do take relief but the fairway markers are too small to conceal my mighty wood. I find myself branching off from the group as I head to the trees where I do my best to fill the canopy. Relieved, I head back to the fairway marker where I chop it into sawdust in a vain attempt to save a stroke. I do hope you're knot board now that you know my story.
  2. Thanks for the help, folks. I’ll let him know that he’s mistaken. Just to note, these shrubs are indeed right next to the short grass on each side of the fairway and a a dwarf species of evergreen.
  3. One of the courses I play regularly has small, short, sparsely limbed, evergreen distance markers (maybe 2 feet in diameter) along the fairway. 150 yard markers, for example. One of the fellows I play with insists that free relief is allowed if your ball lands under such a marker or near enough that your stance would be in or on the marker. I've checked the rules, but the closest I can come to this is 16.1.f.1 : " f. Relief Must Be Taken from Interference by No Play Zone in Abnormal Course Condition In each of these situations, the ball must not be played as it lies: (1) When Ball Is in No Play Zone. If the player’s ball is in a no play zone in or on an abnormal course condition in the general area, in a bunker or on the putting green: No Play Zone in General Area. The player must take free relief under Rule 16.1b. Is he correct? Would the distance markers be considered a "no play zone"?
  4. Happy Birthday! Fairways and greens to you!
  5. Were it me, I'd haul him (and his mother) over to the course and let the young fellow tell the course what he's been doing and why he's been doing it. Maybe they don't care. Maybe, for a certain number of rounds in the future he should pay for 27 and play 18. Maybe he's banned from the course. Let him and the course work it out.
  6. I guess Sergio didn't like his lost ball ruling at the Wells Fargo today: https://www.golfchannel.com/news/after-exceeding-ball-search-time-sergio-garcia-says-i-cant-wait-leave-tour I would say to Sergio, "Goodbye. Don't let the door hitcha where the sun don't gitcha."
  7. Pics on the first post don't work for me. Excellent post. Thanks for the write up. If you don't mind my asking - where did you stay while there? Thanks for the fun posts.
  8. Maybe you could take them to the local tattoo parlor? I bet a ball tattoo would last...
  9. Hmmm. I always thought the "line of the putt" ended at the hole such that, if he's on the opposite side of the flag and ball, he is not astride the putt line. As @iacasindicated it does need to be a tap or stroke with the putter - not a pull of the ball to the hole.
  10. If he's "notorious for being a sandbagger" I think it would be pretty dumb to play him for money.
  11. I hit one into the lake today and it was so much fun I did it againI <sigh>
  12. 27k and they’re hideous. Well! I guess no one's going to gift you with a set! Neener, neener...
  13. I often walk up to the green with a lofted club and my putter. I chip or pitch with the lofted club and then set that club down while I putt with both hands on the putter. In casual conversation, a fellow told me that it would be a penalty to putt with one hand while holding the lofted club in the other. I have searched the rules but do not find anything about that. I did find that I could hold an umbrella in one hand while putting with the other. Am I missing a rule that penalizes putting with one hand while holding a club in the other hand?
  14. I don't think the price of these clubs (about $27,000.00) has gone up much: BERES 5-Star Irons STANDS ALONE Designed by Honma's most experienced master craftsmen known as Takumi, BERES 5S is the ultimate statement of golf luxury. ELEGANT ARTISTRY BERES irons shapes are meticulously hand cut and ground from... I'm sure I could hit much better with these, if one of you kind folk would like to gift me with a set.
  15. I think I'm probably the biggest phony I have met. I whack a beautiful drive thinking, "I bet that one went at least 220 in the air". Then, I get home and check Arccos only to find that that it was only 180, counting any roll I might have gotten. I cream a 7 iron - best shot I have ever hit only to find it went 130 - total. But I'm glad I'm a phony. It keeps me going out every chance I get to try, try again. I just know I've got that 220 drive in me. And even if I don't, I can always fool myself into thinking I do. Heck. Maybe it'll be tomorrow?
  16. I can't even imagine hitting it like you do. For me, that hole is driver, 9 iron and a whole lot of wishful thinking. Unrelated but just curious, are they allowing carts out on the fairway there now? It was cart path only today out at Loomis but there have been a couple of 90 degree to the cart path days.
  17. I don’t have the Alphord but I can say that my Zip Navigator is the next best thing to having a caddy. And I don’t have to buy it a beer after the round.
  18. I talked to a fellow last week that had an Alphord and he said he liked it a lot. I didn't ask him if it was wearing the front wheel at all during stationary turns and didn't get to speak to him for very long. He said he bought his used. My opinion, which you paid little for and may be worth less, is that any of these powered carts and devices are better if the front wheel can swivel. But, that's the cart, not the Alphord.

    Headcover Use?

I now leave my glove on when I putt. I've saved so much time not having to take it off and put it on that I simply blaze around the course. I'm considering leaving my zipper down after my next visit to the woods. Think of the time savings! It's awesome!
  20. I try to be positive but sometimes you just have to pretend you were looking the other way and didn't see his ball fly 20 feet into the water.
  21. I can see where that would be annoying. But it could be so much worse. One of you needs to change and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be him. Have you considered earplugs? 😁

Loved him and Collin holing out 18 from the bunker!
  23. That’s one ugly margarita!

    2022 Masters

Yeah. There’s at least two. You’d think they could tune some of that out of the audio.

Scheffler sure has a win streak going. And, the way he’s playing, he’s looking to add another.
