Trying to learn here, so please correct me if I'm wrong with these "terms". At the pic above, Bryson has his weight left of his center, but all the pressure is on his right leg. So if we would put a scale under his right leg it would show pretty high number, maybe close to his bodyweight, but if all that momentum suddenly disappeared he would fall on his left leg. The student on his video was shifting weight massively which feels powerful but doesn't create any real speed. Bryson's weight shift to the right is very minimal and it happens really early, like between P1 - P1,5 and by the time of P2 he has already re-centered his weight?

knott's Stubborn Takes on Golf, Particularly Instruction

Too much for me, but felt like he is adding into the confusion about weight shift and pressure shift. Also disliked the part about "left foot spin out issue", what issue? This part added into my belief he isn't thinking about pressure at all, I wonder if he would say every MLB batter and disc golf pro have spin out issue with their lead foot and are in danger of injuring themself. How about Kyle Berkshire? 😄

Great stuff, been following this thread every now and then out of interest, but the stuff goes way over my head usually. 😄 In the gym swing your lead shoulder looks to be in much more stronger position, in the right pic it looks collapsed/hugging yourself. Do you think this has alot to do with how you land/brace against your lead side now? I feel like I personally just slide on top of my lead leg/hip and all the torgue I've created in backswing disappears and my upper body has nothing to rotate against, it just floats in space waiting for clubheads momentum to pull it through. I guess it's time to start skating again, please keep posting these updates and the stuff you do in the gym, it's priceless!

Another par 5 and sorry this is again more like "Hole of the week", but the good and bad shots seem to come in groups these days. This was only birdie of the round, althought had really good tries on few holes. Course was pretty wet since we have had so much rain for like 2 weeks. This is quite tricky to open further than 200-210m as it would require very accurate fading shot for righty. Hit a solid 4 iron off the tee (Red arrow) which stopped ~200m off the tee. I was in perfect position to attack close to the green with 3 wood, but I was still bit paralyzed off hitting 2 tops on hole two and I just wanted to get more good contacts to build the confidence. Measured that the left side fairway bunker was 210m from me and at first I was thinking of going with 5 iron to middle of fairway. Out of nowhere I managed to analyze the situation more; the flag was tucked behind the greenside bunker (bit more right and down of where it's in the picture I think) and there's alot of downhill from by spot. Realized with 5 iron I was in danger of reaching the left hand fairway bunker if I pull the shot and ontop of that middle of fairway shot would leave me tricky wedge over the bunker to narrow green. Quickly switched to 6 iron and aimed it to left side of fairway so I'd have better angle to attack the pin without having to go over the greenside bunker. The shot ended up being pretty much perfect (Blue arrow) and I joked with guys in my group that it was the first wise golf shot of my career. Third shot with wedge was lacking bit of commitment and pulled it to the left side of green and ended up with really long (9-10m if I'd have to guess) right to left breaking putt. Ended up draining it in and said it was longest of my career, the guys in group laughed that's alot of "career first" shots on one hole. 😄 The putt was probably greatest I've ever had, but still I would pick the second shot with 6 iron as my shot of the week.

Wouldn't call myself a better player and this might be slightly offtopic, but I really loved the wave theory you spoke about in day 10 drill. I can feel and almost see the wave, must be that we are 60% water. 😄 Bruce Lee would approve what you are saying above.

In one group we clanged the shafts. Damn, that sounds wrong.

Had pretty rough front nine today with my swing thoughts. Took one beer after the nine and decided to just let go on back nine and things got way better, bombed all drives and wedges were good. Just 2 birdies tho of which this hole 18 one was tasty as I've been struggling with this before. We had quite heavy headwind and I joked with one guy in our group that I'll offer him a beer if he gets it on the green with 2 shots, he made a meal offer in exchange. Althought this plays only 516 yards from the yellow tees, I feel into the headwind we had it's nearly impossible to get there in 2 with my distances, because there's so much elevation towards green. Hit a really good drive that penetrated throught the wind quite nice being aprox 260-270 yards long. Usually don't hit 3 wood off the fairways since it's quite wild for me, but decided to go for it. Instead of killing it and trying to go for green in hopes of free meal, I hit one little easier over the trees on left side and ended up in good spot for a little wedge. Hit the wedge slightly heavy from a uphill lie and it ended up being ~10 feet short. Did sink the putt which had bit right to left break, patted myself on the back for having the self control to not attack the green. After sauna and that birdie the meal tasted amazing even thought I paid it myself. 😄

Drilled the changed backswing direction some and hit balls. Path looks different but other than that I don't know was there any success. When doing the drill, toe of my club points straight down which @iacas mentioned is no bueno, what do you recon, is this grip or path related?
-
All the efforts still in finding a way to proper wrist position at the top of the backswing. Might have figured something out just 5 minutes ago about how backswing "direction" might be the solution, have to film some once rain stops. Meanwhile I've been playing with the idea of using stronger grip to help with cupping at the top. I think it makes my setup look better aswell, like I could deliver better to target instead of hitting the ball into ground. Also contacts felt stronger.

Following as I seem to do this with longer clubs, with driver maybe even too much. Related blog, that I'd like to hear opinions on: Biokinetic Golf Swing Theory: The Diagonal Stance I am of the opinion that the feet should be in the diagonal stance position always when the pelvis area motion happens, no matter what is t...

Played only 9 holes this week, since it's been so hot (Went to play discgolf in the woods instead :D). Got myself a new phone and tested filming one teeshot with it, which ended up being probably one of the only good shots of the round, since I felt dead after like 3 holes in that heat. Driver into slight headwind which I gave little extra juice, don't know the exact length, but it was long for me. Didn't know this phone can record 4k video. 🙈

Cool Disc Golf Courses/Holes You’ve Played
Tepi90 replied to dagolfer18's topic in Disc Golf, Foot Golf, Etc.
#5 Hanko Lillmärsan, Hanko Finland Beatiful 24 hole course at the southest point of Finland by the sea. #6 Toramo discgolfpark, Rovaniemi Finland At the hoods of santaclaus, beatifull tightly wooded course in Rovaniemi. Often times you'll have reindeers watching you bang those putts in. #7 Ford discgolfpark, Tuusula Finland Sponsored by ford as name tells, tightly wooded course that is always dry no matter how much it rains, good for winter play aswell. #8 Siltamäki discgolfpark, Helsinki Finland Really beginner friendly course that still offers great practise for better players. Fully lighted (maybe only one in Finland?) 18 hole course so this is the place to play at the middle of night. -
Cool Disc Golf Courses/Holes You’ve Played
Tepi90 replied to dagolfer18's topic in Disc Golf, Foot Golf, Etc.
At the moment there's over 700 courses in Finland and they are constantly building new ones. Have played over 100 here, some in Estonia and one in Spain. Here's just couple cool ones I found photos off, can't tell which one is the coolest and haven't really played any bad courses either. That's probably mostly because I search new ones with Udisc (App everyone should have) and go by the ratings in there. #1 Mijas discgolfpark, Mijas Spain Playes by the mountains in stunning views and there's sheeps at the course every now and then, but the farmers came to shoo them off pretty quickly if they were on the way. Really open course, but becomes very challenging when it's windy. There was one 18 hole course couple years ago, but now they have built second one right next to old course. #2 Puijo discgolf, Kuopio Finland Plays around the Puijo skiing center and condition is usually stunning. 50/50 open and wooded holes with really nice views. #3 Kaatis discgolfpark, Vihti Finland Probably top 3 course in Finland, pretty challenging and condition is always 10/10, one of the few pay to play courses. Still only 5 euros for a day or so. #4 Jõulumäe Discgolf Park, Pärnu Estonia Hidden gem in Pärnu, two 18 hole courses (Yellow and red layout) of which the yellow is challenging championship course and red is slightly easier. -
Having a mini vacation in northern Finland at my old home town. Picked up my push cart and some old clubs, including full set of Ben Hogan apex irons. Got to play my old home towns practise course (9 holes of short par 3's). Started golf by playing this multiple times a day with only 9 iron. Season lasts aprox 3 months here, which is probably one of the reasons I never picked golf as my main sport. Condition is really good considering its been only couple weeks since snow melted here. The full course (18 holes) is really beatifull here with water on every hole both sides. Sadly don't have enough time or the clubs to play it this time. Filmed the practise course tho, was fun althought the clubs I had was bit unfamiliar: Greens were quite bumpy but I need to start working more on putting when I get back home, it's pretty much all over the place atm.

Haven't been able to practise/play much due to health and work issues, luckily get on holiday soon. I went to check the lie angles on my clubs and they were fine. We hit from top of plate with tape at the bottom of club and it struck the plate pretty much in the middle of face or even slightly to heel side. Had first round where my ball striking was actually okay apart from driver, just too hard club for me to hit. However if I keep striking the ball like I did with irons, I believe it's finally possible to score in a way that doesn't require too much booze after every round. 😄 Work with the day 4 drill continues. I fear I'm not doing it quite right tho. Shaft looks in Eriks words laid off at the top and toe maybe slightly too much down? With actual full swing hitting a ball the momentum seems to pull it to different position tho (shut face and more towards target).

Not in position to really rate his advices, but I'd give 9 based on first watch. Really shows he has worked alot on his swing over the years and feel like he could even examine his own swing to some degree if it's about to fall apart. Especially liked his terminology, I think that's big part to not use words that can be misunderstood. Been watching alot of disc golf pro's giving tips and seriously those guys are really lost when it comes to understanding what they do, and the terms they use are really hurting alot of people. Loved the advice he gave for that 4 year old watching behind at the top of backswing and still hitting the driver more solid than I do. I feel that's the kind of advice 4 year old will pick up and benefit greatly from in all ways, next GOAT in the making. 😄

I've been using this Iain Highfields tip on range, people maybe look at me weird when I place the balls 2 meters behind the hitting area, but I look back at them weird when they rake. 😄

This was quite interesting video about relearning something you already "can" do. Wish the feedback from golf swing were as radical as from riding a bike. 😄

Had to give this a shot couple times today while practising, at first it felt so uncomfortable I couldn't focus on my target at all. After doing this even my normal grip felt weird for a while. Not sure was the weak grip weak enough, but it surely felt like the wrists might break if I hit that hard dry ground, ended up hitting little thin. One friend used to play with almost this weak grip and he always said the hard fairways make his wrists hurt, now I understand why. 😅 Also felt like hitting with completely straight stiff hands with the weak grip, one lever got completely robbed. The strong grip felt like I could hit the ball with nothing but wrists and it still would go a mile. 😄

Great stuff, have to start looking at this better. I've been trying to set the DTL view with alignment stick as @boogielicious adviced somewhere I think, just now realised I always stand little away from alignment stick. 🙈

Did 250 repetitions of day 4 drill yesterday without hitting any balls. Today went to field to hit ~50 and was bit disappointed seeing the left wrist is still arched at the top/early during transition. If something good, my divot pattern starts to go more right, it used to be left. Work with the drill continues. "I fear not the man who has practiced 10 000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10 000 times." -Bruce Lee After the instructor told me about the lie angles, I've started to feel bit uncomfortable with my standard clubs at address and contacts are bit toe sided I think. Never thought equipment could make any difference, but think I'll head to store to check what's right for me sometime soon.

Would most likely go for 2 "iron"/hybrid as that should make it to that fairway "corner" and hence give me biggest angle to hit the fairway.

The lesson was bit "meh", could of been partly because I had really bad headache. It's been actually so bad that I've taken few days off course completely and had a visit to a doctor. Instructor basically told me three things: 1. My upper back and chest are extremely tight, have so called "facet lock" if that's the right term in English 2. I slide a lot towards target during my downswing, making it hard to hit driver 3. I should check the lie angles of my clubs, 1 degree or so upright could help. For number 2 he gave me a drill where you set yourself to impact position and start the backswing from there. I pointed out this could work as a trigger move for me, he agreed. Will work on this surely, but I feel now it's not the time. I asked him few times about my wrist condition at the top of backswing, but he didn't feel that's a problem which made be bit disappointed because I feel it clearly is after watching the day 4 drill. Taking the wrist action as my number one priority to fix, because I feel there's many things that arched position at the top is preventing me from doing. Been working on it bit inside and today got to hit some balls. In order to have a chance to get that cupped wrist position at the top, I felt like my backswing direction had to change, the plane looks completely different now. I checked the wrist position multiple times before swinging, but I couldn't hold it at the top. However now it's atleast flat instead of arched, but I guess this needs much more work: Imgur Post with 1 views. Left wrist looks better to my eye at impact, but could it be I'm rolling my wrists over more or something? Thanks in advance!
