Agree on TGW. I admit the Clic looks great but I could not pull the trigger on the price. I found a TGW Tour Pro for a bit less than $150 on sale that is apparently a knockoff of another known name. Has worked great into year 3 playing in all conditions at least 2-3 times a week.

As I have gotten older my length of shots with my driver seems to have decreased much more than my irons. I have always played stiff flex shafts as I found dispersion higher with regular flex. What are your experiences with moving from stiff to regular or senior flex driver shafts? My thought was to try to find a fitter at a driving range or a manufacturer demo day where I can try a few options.

@ChetlovesMer would recommend you get a 'nice" white belt

Get a kiddie pull cart for your clubs. As an added benefit you are all set for having (more?) kids.

Was it a Wilson?

Probably...but if we did we would have to wait even longer for the group in front to clear!

Ohhh...I would never use headcovers on irons. It is only an opinion but it is just wrong...haha

So why do my wife and I play faster than 95%+ of players on our courses when we both replace covers on woods and putters?

I prefer this concept to both old school mini golf and Topgolf. On the other hand, depending upon price, does this really "grow" golf? (I assume Topgolf type prices prevail). For example, Topgolf for a family of 4 can easily approach/exceed $200 (golf, drinks and snacks/shareables). Isn't price one of the arguements against golf "accessibility"? An 18 hole round for the same family is normally well under the same price when selecting an affodable course with Youth on Course for kids/teens. Plus you get them off their gadgets and spend a few hours together.

I have such a low opinion of Hollywood that the issue of right or wrong does not enter into the equation. I voted for Will because I postulate Mrs. Smith demanded something be done, and slapping Chris Rock is something that many would like to do. At least it made us talk about the Oscars, which I doubt any of us would be discussing otherwise.

Weird Golf Ball Colors
KMP replied to ChetlovesMer's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Blue balls are never good. A guy from an adjacent fairway was looking for his ball close to our green and I asked him if a stray white ball was the object of his search. He replied that he was playing with blue balls. There were so many possible replies, but I just left it with "Sorry to hear". -
That reminds me of a golf joke haha

Other ideas: Fasten a target on the ball picker (assuming it has proper protection for the operator) and have it run across the range at varying distances and speeds for different point values Trash cans with marked balls for different point values "Big Break" cellophane window smashing As far as interest...probably not for me but I might attend if friends were going or my wife asked. You are probably right that Topgolf/full bar enthusiasts would be highly interested.

Courses are already drying out nicely in the South Sound; although aerification season is upon us too. Gives us a chance to test the bumpy green putting question from another thread....and 1/2 price greens fees at most courses.

Depends on fairway wide, carry length and weather conditions (i.e. how wet). It the fairway is narrow, carry long and course dry I go with putter; otherwise I will take driver.

I prefer to arrive early as well. Generally to have plenty of time to organize but also to inquire about an earlier time in case of no shows, or to see if my wife and I are paired with randos. If there is an opening head to tee with no warm-up. If not, maybe a few balls just to loosen up, and/or a few putts, and/or get a beverage. I think this counts as no routine. I do have a pre-competition routine that starts with loosening up with several 7 and/or 5 iron shots, including a 5 iron feet together, 1/4 swing warm-up. Then step up through a couple longer clubs to a few driver shots. Move to shorter clubs/wedges including pitches and chips. Off to putting mainly to gauge speed. Finally apply liberal/excessive quantities of sunscreen and try to get the residue of my non-glove hand, and relax for a bit.

In other news....Golf courses planning to push "Twilight rates" ahead one hour.

I was at Emirates Golf Club at the first two Dubai Desert Classic events. We had very close access to players and it was a great experience for all the reasons everyone has pointed out. The usual routine was to hit the range for a bit. Follow a group out to a good viewing hole then watch several groups there then repeat. Was lucky to see Euro Tour stars like Faldo et al, Seve whining for relief, and Woosnam drinking with the members were bonuses.

A follow up from another question. When playing "winter rules" what is the standard for "lift and clean"? I generally ignore and play as it lies unless I am imbedded. We are not posting during the worst conditions so it is a learning experience IMO. Comments??

Ruling on a Ball Lying in a Divot With Attached Grass "Flap"
KMP replied to KMP's topic in Rules of Golf
We are (were) in the posting season. This is one reason for the question, although I thought I was just out of luck. Grass is most definitely not dormant in U.P. now or for the last few weeks. Also, courses I play do not necessarily have winter rules posted, nor do I normally play winter rules in any event. I was more concerned about the general rule and the quirks of golf. Thank you all for your comments!!! -
Ruling on a Ball Lying in a Divot With Attached Grass "Flap"
KMP replied to KMP's topic in Rules of Golf
Thanks all.... the ball was indeed not imbedded. The shot shape left me to conclude the ball rolled into the divot hole and further conclude the attached divot dropped down to cover the top and front of the ball. I did find the next shot to be much more difficult than the standard unrepaired divot hole with the divot several yards away. Seemed like a simple press down with the Sqairz could have prevented the situation. -
SQAIRZ, Fact or Fiction?
KMP replied to woodzie264's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Sqairz improved my game by several strokes but I had to give them away because they made me so attractive to the ladies that my wife got jealous. 😛 -
If I am not in a competition I just continue to try to make the shot. Especially since you stated you have success with the same club. I am on the quest to improve and would want to get that hole "out of my head" at some point. If golf ball cost is a consideration that could alter my opinion, but I am way under par on my golf ball finding/losing score. I guess there is a plus in missing so many fairways.

All I know about grits is that one should only eat grits in the south or made by a southerner.....and that no self-respecting southerner would make instant grits, Vinnie told me.
