  1. Is it allowed in the rules to change the face during a round? (from fade bias to draw bias) I would think not. Does anyone know?
  2. I think you should get a consistant swing before you buy custom clubs. Also, if you go forged they can bend a bit overtime and need to be re-checked about every year or so. Forged clubs are also easier to bend.
  3. Par three tees usually break. Driver not so much. If the tee flies straight up out of the ground like it was bounced then I know I am swinging pretty well with my driver.
  4. You have to groove your individual swing. Try to make your swing as simple as possible in your mind. I focus on nothing but my weight shift and tempo. I let my body turn happen subconsciously as I move my weight back and let the hands drop naturally as I turn/move forward with me weight. Don't force your swing and trust it. This is the path to consistent contact daniel-son.
  5. I like to think about pushing the hips and weight forward like iacas said. As for the hands, I just like to feel like gravity is dropping them down. Your forward hip turn will get your swing on plane as your hands and arms "drop into the downswing."
  6. One of these will creep up on me with my wedges every once in a while too. It usually happens to me when I am trying to hit at the ball rather they swing through. My hands tense up and I leave the face wide open. It feels solid, but its not.
  7. you are reading it wrong. Of course his swing has nothing to do with his attitude. I don't see how you can connect those two thoughts...Maybe I have bad grammar, or you read the posts too fast. His swing and attitude have nothing to do with each other.
  8. wow, where did I ever say his golf swing makes him spoiled and rich? I was making that observation from various interviews and articles.
  9. Yea and immediately turned around and bought a condo on the stadium course. And the house his father sold was in southern California just outside of Beverly Hills. Its nice to be handed things, but I like the stories of rags to riches for golfers. He has also had problems and fights with swing coaches. I can just see a spoiled attitude on him. But that has nothing to do with his golf. He is great. And I don't know him personally, which is why I said it "seems" he has that attitude. http://articles.latimes.com/2008/jul...s/sp-british16 I especially like the one talking about him playing hungover and with 45 min. of sleep. By the way, a condo on the stadium course can be upwards of $4,000 per month just to rent. Yea, no money there...
  10. Back when I was in college, I played with another golfer whom I had never met...and he was pretty drunk... Anyways, about the 12th hole and a couple beers later, the guy starts to get impatient with the twosome in front of us, which is a father and his little girl. The guy, being a complete a-hole hits the ball about 10 yards from these two. I gave the guy a stern "what the hell are you thinking?!" and rushed up to the twosome to apologize for the a-hole. I explained the situation about my drunk partner. Just so happens the man was a local sheriff on his day off, trying to teach his daughter some golf, and he was not happy. I apologized again and he understood. I promised him I would make sure that never happened again. Needless to say I did not tell my partner he was a cop. But I did tell him that was an incredibly rude and unbecoming act. Anyways, we finished and the guy went to his car while I went to practice some putting. Later when I was going home, I turned onto the street just outside the course and saw a green truck pulled over no more than 300 yards from the gates. Outside was the a-hole performing a sobriety test! I bet his night didn't go so well...
  11. I keep my score like this too, the more detailed the better. After I enter my score in the handicap database at the clubhouse, I take my card home and enter all my stats on my computer spreadsheet. For example, I have an approach shot of 198 yards, a fairway lie, and a 4i in hand. Wind in negligible. I hit the shot solid, and miss the green left, 40 feet from the hole. I record all of this in these categories . Shot - approach Shot type - full Lie - fairway Distance - 198 yards (always to flag) Wind - no Club - 4i Swing quality - solid GIR - no Miss - Left Miss distance - 13 yards This may seem tedious to most, but it pays off over time. For example, using some fancy excel skills and statistics, I can group my data into a normal distribution by club. This gives me an idea of how much I miss that club left and right, or short and long, and by how much. Its like playing Tiger Woods on Xbox and having that circle where your shot is likely to land, but in real life! Also, since all my stats are categorized, I can even predict my score based on how much wind there is, how often I miss the fairway, ect...
  12. Thats cool. One of the hardest things I had to get over was playing in front of others. Staying calm under pressure like this takes a whole lot of mental discipline. Anyways, I just played 18 today at my home course. A bit windy, as it usually is here in Texas. No. 2 is a fairly short par 4 at 380 yards. Wind is coming in from the right and there are trees and all sorts of nastiness to the left. So I decided to try and fade a 3 wood into the wind and hope I could hit the narrow fairway or at least miss right. I am mostly a draw shot type, any time I try and fade I end up ballooning the ball into the wind, costing distance. I lined up to the center of the fairway and opened the face a touch. Coming through, I made a conscious feeling of my hands staying ahead of the club and staying firm on my left side through impact. I never hit a better shot. It did exactly what I envisioned. The ball was able to stay low and not balloon. It held up perfectly in the wind and it landed in the middle of the fairway, leaving 110 yards to a back pin. A knockdown PW got me to about 15 feet. Missed the birdie putt of course. I need the hit the putting green more.
  13. Looks good but I would agree on needing to see you hitting a ball... And I am wearing the same exact thing you were wearing in your video right now...same color adidas shirt, shorts, and sandals...Very weird.
  14. Haha! I could see Darth Vader saying this...
  15. No Rory is just a jerk. I remember a while back him getting pissed at another golfer for "messing up his round" while he was on the green and a ball was hit near him. He turned around and started acting like a baby, yelling at the other golfer back down the fairway. And I don't even think the ball landed on the green. Also I believe he has been accused of walking/moving around alot while others are trying to putt. He just seems like a jerk to me as wearing that stupid belt buckle. Same goes for Anthony Kim...
  16. Too bad you can't do that on the course! Would help with those tough recovery shots from the trees.
  17. Don't forget Rory Sabbatini
  18. Ball spin is the result of great contact...nuff' said.
  19. Good grammar makes the post more enjoyable to read. I won't even bother reading some of these posts as butchered as they are...
  20. I'm pretty tall (6'3") so I dislike my standard length 60. I won't use it on a full swing because I feel like I am swinging my nephew's irons. I use it mainly around the greens for high pitch shots or a high spin chip.
  21. Sounds good to me. Watch your shins!
  22. Drinking and posting is forbidden on the sand trap...
  23. I remember watching a clinic with him and Tiger while Tiger was still injured. AK was hitting all the shots and when Tiger asked him to explain his fade he said, "I don't know how I do it." If you ask me, I don't think he completely understands his swing. And he seems like a spoiled little rich boy if you ask me. You are probably just struggling with rotating back over to your left side on the follow through. AK has a very simple turn with his swing that keeps him on plane. The trouble is when you slide forward instead of turning on the downswing which causes your push with the longer clubs. Remember, if you turn in quickly on your backswing you have to turn back in quickly on your follow through.
  24. Short par 4 today with water left. Decide to lay up with a 3 wood to about 120 yards left to the pin, which was located about 8 paces in from the water on the front of the green. Hit a PW to about 6 feet under the hole and birdied.
