  1. Breaking 100 isn't too hard. It's a lot more course management than you think. Basically you're aiming for bogey golf. Par 4's become par 5's and par 5's to par 6s. Having that mindset will help. By adding GIR+1 how would you change your play from tee to green? You have now three shots to get to the green on a par 4 is there any point in pulling out there driver? If you can't break 100 don't even bother pulling out the driver. For me I used nothing but my 4 hybrid which I could hit 160 - 180m PRETTY STRAIGHT. From there it was usually another hybrid or a 7i. If you can become efficient with a hybrid, a mid iron and than a wedge from 100 in you'll break 100 in no time. When you hit your tee shot into the rough and don't have a clear shot, take your punishment and hit out no need to pull a hero shot. That's pretty much it. That's how I did it.
  2. Great stuff. I have this problem too, the reason why I had the ball closer was to eliminate my push slice but I found the further I am the less it pushes... Hey Zeph how did you get rid of you out to in swing? and what's your "feel" move that starts your downswing? (if you have one.)
  3. Where do you guys position your hands at address? And is there a correct way? I was always told, once you take your stance to let your hands drop and simply hold the club. So my hands were behind my feet. But when I use anything below a five iron I felt really sweepy instead of a hit down on the ball feel I like with the smaller clubs. Kind of like Ryan Moore at address, here's a vid to explain. But I've been looking at some vids of Sam Snead and Ben Hogan and there hands are always further away than there feet (apart from wedge shots and higher loft irons) Again another vid. So which is more fundamentally sound so to speak. Or do you adjust your hand position depending on a particular ball flight you want? Hope I'm making sense here.
  4. He's going to be a severe cripple when he makes the champions tour.
  5. Really? Ask a bunch of instructors around the joint and see if they agree. I doubt it.
  6. You serious?
  7. Looks like they stepped out of an Andre 3000 video clip. I hope Phil Mickleson wears that purple cardigan.
  8. This argument doesn't hold any merit. Tiger Woods is oldschool and a bit of a purist when it comes to golf technology. It was only recently he shifted his woods to graphite, he doesn't use hybrids and if it wasn't for all the new and improved gear Tiger would be further in front of the pack. It's made it harder for him to win.
  9. As long as you don't bend the left arm or your right elbow moving to far off the chest, I don't see why not. But I'm not too sure.
  10. Burrito, Burrato. Foley is S&T;, gotta admit his "watered down" version does look prettier
  11. Hank Haney said Tiger's handicap on his home course was somewhere around +11. I'll find the source. Rory McIlroy was a +6 handicap by 14 at his home course, Blackwood I think it's called...

    Talented child

I would take him to a pro. See how he goes and assess from there. 10 thousand hours of intense gruelling practice and he will achieve mastery :P
  13. No one's denying Wie has freakish ability. She's got huge talent. Sergio Garcia has freakish ability too... I'll take Lexi Thompson over Michelle Wie any day. LOL.
  14. Just encourage him at the moment, but everyone is different. Some kids perform better when there fathers and coaches were tough on them but I always played better when my old man only had positive things to say. (This was Aussie rules not golf) Great pointers on the short game but for a 12 year old I'm sure he's going to get more of a buzz wacking the ball 130m than sinking putts. I say just let him have fun, once he really starts to love the game then you can start adding pointers, telling him how to improve and pushing for more lessons.
  15. Spot on there. Players this era just buckle under pressure, seems like there more focussed on the paycheck than the glory.
  16. geez... the LPGA could learn a thing or too from the PGAtour's simple website interface. Can't find a video of Michelle Wie anywhere.. there's too much bullshit. Good on here though.
  17. Charlie Wi came on a bit strong there. There's no need to bash Mike and Aaron, the stats speak for themselves but awesome stuff on calling out Foley. Anyone who is knowledged on the golf swing, knows Foley is full of it when he says he adopted 5% of S&T; principles. That's weak. I have to agree with Baddeley being one of the worst ball strikers on tour, that guy has had to rely on his awesome short game (especially putting) for too long. He's really turned into a pga journeymen and he had so much promise when he was younger... I think the worst thing Aaron did was be the face of "stack and tilt." When all the negative media came pouring in he must of copped the most criticism out of all the S&T; players. When everyone is whispering in your ear how bad S&T; is that has got to play with your head and cause doubt when you don't perform. Too much pressure for a guy like Badds. Got any sources? Just curious.
  18. Big ups for Poulter saying that. I like him now. Johnny Miller can be a real prick sometimes, it's about time someone lashed out.
  19. This is pretty much how I play. The par 4's are my par 5's and the par 5's are my par 6's. GIR + 1 golf. Having this mindset definately eases the pressure to grip and rip it. The only downer is that you get called "Alice" or "Fairy" off the tee. That all changes once they see who actually wins.
  20. I've never heard Tiger or Phil talk smack about each other. Steve Williams on the other hand... Back on topic, Poulter is a pom enough said.
  21. used to wear a glove for the wrong hand. A random bloke pointed this out while playing... felt like a douchebag.
  22. 1. Those shots that pierce the wind as they're flying... like SWOOOOOSH!. Is there a term for this? Makes me feel pga leet. 2. Long putts that go in. 3. Hero shots in the rough that have to go through two trees or whatever (Stupid but awesome when it works.) 4. Getting my ball pin high. 5. Fairway bunker shots that work.
  23. I thought they were all two plane? Wouldn't they all be swinging a club like Moe Norman if they were 1 plane?

    The Barclays

I would love to see the other player just lose it after a luck box shot like that. Poor guy... it's luck going all in with aces and the guy rivers a royal flush.

Diversity in golf? Everyone does remember that the world number one is cablinasian? There's just as much incentive to bounce a basketball, throw a baseball or football as well.... not to mention cheaper. That's the sole reason right there. The so called lack diversity in the pga has got nothing to with racial prejudice. I would like to see more racial diversity in Polo too but that's no going to happen anytime soon.
