My family has a place in Florida, and I would love to plan a trip to get down there and play some golf. I know Doral (blue monster course) can be crazy expensive. Like $400 expensive, but is there a way to get out there for cheap. Would May or even October be a little more reasonable? Is it worth the money. Maybe I am just loopy because I watched four days of the Cadillac and was salivating over the course. Or maybe the it's the snow, but either way I just wanted to see if anyone has played this course, their thoughts, and any ideas for playing it without completely breaking the bank.

tragic story ... about 5 years ago, my company had a conference there at Doral.     I wasn't golfing yet, so I elected for my afternoon activity to take a sucky tour of the cuban district of Miami.     Most of the guys I worked with played the Blue Monster.     Talk about epic fail.     Although, as a non-golfer at the time, imagine it would have been an exercise in futility to try to play that course with no skills...

May not be so different from the folks who ignore "The Sign" at Bethpage Black! Although, to their credit, they have been cracking down a bit on complete wasters trying to slog around out there.
