There available.  You can buy the same shirts that Tiger, Rory, Sergio, Ricky Fowler and others wear on tour.  They just cost a LOT of money!

I wouldn't want to wear one, I'm not a fan of sports brand clothing, I like to dress smart casual on and off the course, anything I wear on the course I could wear off it! In fact I don't own any clothing by Nike, or any sport/golf brand! Although I do own a few galvin green winter garments but even they could be worn off the course!

Those exclamation marks...

Seems like that'd be pretty awful to golf in, to be honest; not a fan of sweating my ass off in thick cotton clothing: https://www.google.com/search?q=smart+casual&safe;=off&source;=lnms&tbm;=isch&sa;=X&ei;=5ovYU9KSIZS1yATTkYGgCw&ved;=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw;=1600&bih;=775

Ha sorry about the exclamation marks, I've tried to cut them out but they creep back in! I have to move my thumb a whole inch to reach the comma, Anyway, smart casual, as in pants/slacks and cotton polo, and/or lightweight sweater, I'm guessing you've never been to the uk? Nobody sweats there ass off, our summer only last for 2 weeks, the rest of the time our climate pretty much sucks!

Ahh that's right, the UK doesn't get super hot for very long if at all. I do go for the cotton shirts once mid/late-October rolls around, though; I think they look better with my collection of argyle sweater vests and it's not too hot to wear them.

@Hardballs mma with your thumb?  Odd.

And i believe that you want the words 'their ass', not  'there ass' when describing the effects of UK heat waves, if any.  Finally,  i much prefer cotton, or cotton/linen, pants (trousers) for hot weather golf.   Except for modern sun-blocking synthetic fabrics, which i do wear for the protection, i generally avoid synthetics and go cotton for shirts.  And long sleeved only.  Can wear short sleeves if also use arm-condoms,  as seen on many lady Asian  pros.

I don't buy that much golf-specific stuff. I've got a couple of shirts, but most of the time I wear the exact same dress shirt and pants that I work in. I put on my shoes, roll up my sleeves and play.

I have a few golf specific shirts.

I do not pay the outrageous prices for them though.  Luckily for me, my wife is a bargain hunter.

Recently she has come home with 3 golf shirts for me lately.

1.  A Nike dri-fit she got for $20 at Ross

2.  A Chaps shirt made from a similar material for $12 from Ross

3.  A sweet Polo golf shirt from Dillards for $24 on clearance

These are the deals that you can wait for and get nice golf shirts that don't break the bank.

It will be a cold day in hell before I drop $70+ on a freaking shirt.  Any shirt.  Especially since the 3 nice shirts mentioned above didn't cost that much combined.

I've said this in another thread somewhere here but I never pay full price for Nike Golf shirts. I have a Nike Outlet less than a mile from my job and the most I've spent on a shirt there was $26.00. I normally pay anywhere from $14-$26.00 plus tax. I've also gotten a few Champion golf shirts from Target in the past. The only thing I pay full price for is shoes most of the time.

I can't help but buy Nike, Under Armour and Adidas polos because they fit me perfectly. I wear them damn near year round and to work as well. The dress in our office is business casual and nothing is more comfortable for 12 hours a day than dress slacks and a polo in my opinion. If I hit the range or course after work, I'm simply changing out my shoes and sometimes slacks for my Adidas Clima-Lite Tech Tour pants/shorts.

I would never pay $70 for a polo per MSRP tags though. Go to the outlet stores, search online and check out Golf Galaxy and Golf Smith's clearance racks. I've walked into Golf Galaxy and checked out a new Nike shirt that I liked only to see that it was $70 and I just laughed and moved on. A week later I found that same shirt on clearance for $24.99 with a red sticker and my size (XL) as well. Never pay full price unless you like giving your money away. There's always a cheaper price somewhere, you just have to look.

I see all the reports about the golf industry's troubles but feel part of the problem is of it's own making. For instance, check out the vast number of golf shoe models Nike offers . Not different color options but models. They must have some creative people on the payroll just to come up with descriptions of all the various models. Yet nobody seems willing to pay the full retail price but every year a whole slew of new shoe technology is discovered. Am I missing something?

I love the Clima Lite Shorts by Adidas [quote name="rcarat" url="/t/76158/golf-fashion#post_1029400"]I see all the reports about the golf industry's troubles but feel part of the problem is of it's own making. There's nothing wrong with giving the consumer a choice. What the average 20 year old golfer buys probably looks crazy to the average 50-60 year old golfer.

I'm not the kind of guy that'll wear something really really flashy... and I didn't really like polo shirts (even though I had several in my closet) until I picked up a few Izod golf (tamer colors and patterns) that were on closeout at Macy's close to me. I found I really like them and picked up some more the next time I found myself in an Izod outlet store... I'm more of a fan of the performance fabric shirts than the pique polos made of cotton...

But I won't wear wild colors... that's just not my style. And the prices... good grief, who wants to pay $90 for a Nike golf shirt from Golfsmith? Not me... so I'll try to find it cheap.

Chris

I don't play golf, I play at golf. There's a difference.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
