  1. Thanks for the info. You prompted me to go to google maps and they even give a clearer perspective for this week: Seems like you (or somebody else) mentioned, it's really not adjacent to the grandstands, but rather the big temporary tents. Plus they're pros/elite ams in a majors champ, I'm cool for them to have to deal with this lol.
  2. Because for the members its presumably off limits because they don't want them playing off the practice range? Since (based solely on the photo posted) it certainly doesn't appear to be a practice area this week - just an area of rough between the fairway and the grandstands - I don't see the need for it. My personal opinion is OB should only exist where absolutely necessary and I don't see this area as necessary. That's all. To each their own though. 🙂 Separately, and speaking of driving ranges; wasn't Speith's iconic shot when he won several years ago off the driving range? We should continue to encourage craziness like that. 🍻
  3. I'm not a fan, but I get the reasoning when they're doing it for safety reasons. I'd prefer, though, that they put up physical barriers (a net or trees) instead, because Internal OB disproportionally hurts bad golfers; those poor souls who simply want to hit it straight down the correct fairway and not risk hurting anybody but struggle to do so. 🙂 And on the picture posted above about the British Open 18th hole it seems entirely unnecessary and pointless. I can't imagine that the members are practicing between the 18th fairway and the grandstands this week?
  4. This place looks fun. I particularly like #6, the short par 4. Also the short par 3, #15. The idea of them possibly setting a hole at a US Open to pitch-n-putt distance is awesome lol.
  5. It certainly looks goofy but it is only because it's a new-ish thing we're still getting used to seeing. Think about an alternative that I'm sure you've seen on TV countless times before a crucial putt: ... reading from crouched behind the ball; walking around and reading it from the side, then going and reading it from behind the hole, then for good measure read it from the other side, coming back and plumb bobbing, then asking caddy cuz you still can't see it, and possibly him then going through the same routine for you. People don't say "yikes" to that as much simply because it's what we're used to. I guarantee it takes way longer than what Bradley did here. Not to mention his goofiness isn't exclusive to greens. He has an awkward twitchy routine for every shot. Shit. I shoulda read the whole thread before commenting. Sorry for being redundant guys!
  6. I would guess not, because the older version wasn't really that prominent on TV, I don't think? Pros got into it en masse after Aimpoint Express was created, and I'd also guess that the thing that bothers him is the straddling of the putt line; another thing that wasn't part of the previous version. I'm guessing that is what he thinks is "un golf like?" I dunno ... I think "curmudgeon" is the correct call here. 🙂
  7. https://www.golfchannel.com/news/world-wide-technology-championship-moving-mayakoba-tiger-woods-designed-course I don't think this was posted yet, but the WGC announced its moving from Mayakoba to a course in Cabo after Maykoba hosted LIV. We can speculate that maybe the two are related? This article doesn't give any specifics though. Maybe a coincidence.
  8. I sure hope you do! It was all in jest. 🙂 Keto desserts probably just as “yummy” as the flourless jewish “treats” we eat at Passover.
  9. I "boo'ed" you specifically and solely because you said no dessert. 😉 Chilean sea bass sounds delicious. I'd probably so something pedestrian like steak, mashed potates, and veggies, maybe brussel sprouts as those have been growing on me lately. And ice cream for dessert. Boring, but yummy.
  10. Anybody else from the 80's, when there were the St. Louis Cardinals ... and the St. Louis Cardinals? lol.
  11. Yup. I never heard of Eric Cole before yesterday and I very likely might forget his name tomorrow - but his story was compelling and it made the tournament interesting to watch. There's nothing compelling and interesting about LIV, IMO.
  12. Actually this is a perfect summation of WHY I dont like the things I listed above. Shorts, or music, or the teams, by themselves don’t necessarily mens anything bad, but you’re dead on - it’s like what they’re doing doesn’t matter. And if it don’t matter to them it sure as heck don’t matter to me.
  13. Just watched my first (and probably last) few minutes of LIV. My local cable company has CW at channel 5 immediately adjacent to PGA tour on channel 4. I enjoyed it for one reason: cuz I played Mayakoba a few months ago. But everything else, very meh. Don’t like the teams, the colorful graphics, the shorts, the music in the background??, among the other obvious and previously discussed issues.
  14. Yeah, this is where I'm at as well. IMO, this is only an issue for two reasons: It's Reed, and we all know his history. The "100% sure" language he used in the discussion. If either one of those is eliminated from the equation, then this was never a story to begin with. If Reed says "yeah, that does kinda look like my arrow, but I can't quite be 100% certain" or anything along those lines he gets a pass. And, if literally anybody else hits that ball, then nobody blinks an eye.
  15. I believe that 2, 4 (which seem to be pretty related to my untrained eye) and also 9 are the ones I struggle with the most. Good info 🙂
