I've never had help on my Driver swing (which is completely different from my iron swing) And I really need help with it. I hit it perfectly fine, But I feel my swing looks rediculous as I watch it, and I can guarantee I can do something to get it a little straighter and with more power.

Please help me out! I usually hit the ball straight. As you can see I dont bend my elbows at all, I feel this helps me ensure a square club face when I hit the ball. Also as you slow the video down, you'll notice My front foot is off the ground during the swing. I don't usually do this, just F'ed up this one. Sorry for the video quality and the shaking, my friend sucks at video taping. I personally find my swing is not very good and has many flaws.

Also here is my iron swing, completely different from my driver swing:

I am mainly looking for help with the driver swing, but any comments on the iron swing are also appreciated. Thanks for the help guys

do u really shoot in the high 70's/low 80's? with that driver swing, i wouldn't believe it.

Your hands don't come through the zone very well, your stance is too narrow and you don't look confident

the iron swing however is pretty good..

I'm not good enough to critique your driver swing, but your iron swing looks very nice.

Although I wasn't posting to get my scores judged on how I swing my driver: Yes I do shoot that, and my handicap is further improving. I actually hit the ball very straight, but Have become a little inconsistent and feel im lacking a bit of power.

I dont think there is much wrong with that tempo. You have a cupped strong left hand and a weakish right hand grip. I am sure there are a lot of very good players with that kind of grip. I think your legs are a little too far apart for your shoulder width but that again is subjective. What I dont like is that at the finish both your legs are pointed at the target line. That said I'll take that swing at age 16.

That's my 2 Cs.

Thank you Cbe, as far as my front foot pointed at the target line, That never happens with me and I never ever do that. It just so happened in this video that I did this out of 100 swings. My legs sometimes do feel a bit far apart, I'll have to try shoulder width apart!

Thanks.

Well, I'm not a swing expert, by any means, but I'll give you my two cents and see what you think of it.

Different people have different preferences about the way they hold the club and what they want to do with their arms, so I won't say anything about that. What I will say is that the swing looks pretty good until you come back down. I think your hip rotation might be part of your problem, because at the point of impact with the ball, your hips were almost completely closed. I think that's the root of the problem in your swing, as I think that led to you not getting your hands through completely, as well.

You coil fairly well, but I just don't think you're releasing all of the enery into the strike.

i think your driver swing is all about confidence.

the two guys i know who hit the longest aren't very tall dudes...maybe 6'0" even but, they are athletes and have athlete mentalities. They have smooth and under control swings but they just smash the living crap out of the ball and send it where they want.

Go into that teebox ready to drive!

Well obivously no expert here either, I would say your stance looks a little wide, ball postion may be a little back in your stance. Takeaway is nice, good position at the top. It looks like you are on your toes at impact, hard to turn your hips and create power if you are on your toes. You seem to let your front foot spin out to get the hip turn through at least in that swing. Here is a good video of a couple of scrub golfers, obiviously they swing much faster but check out their lower body and feet on the downswing.

Dent the first thing I noticed about your driver swing is that your setup looks tense, mainly because your reaching for the ball too much(which is probably why your on your toes). Let your arms fall more naturally, and make sure to maintain the wrist angle through the impact area. But yeah, I think the main thing causing your slight lack of power is that you are too far from the ball. Get closer and then work with the power points from there (hip turn, weight transfer, coil)

The iron swing looks pretty solid. Good luck dude!

If you hit the ball fine, I wouldn't change a thing.

Sort of looks a little like Paul Azinger's swing, Also JB Holmes and long drive champ Jason Zuback have similar swings (although much faster). JB Holmes doesnt hinge his wrists much, and Zuback doesn't either. I'm sure you can search and find their swings eaisly. Be thankful you hit it consistent......... 220 yds down the middle is better than 280 in the forest. Iron swing looks real good to me. good luck

Let's keep it simple. Your first problem is that you are using two different swings. Swing the club the same way for all your shots... draws, fade, high shots, low shots, driver, sand shots, long irons, short irons, half swings, etc. As Ben Hogan said, a long swing is nothing more than an extension of a short swing.

Hogan once told one of his students that "Life is too short to master one swing, let alone multiple swings for different shots." (not the exact quote)

So start practicing this: put the ball in the same position in your stance (Hogan says put it one or two inches to the left of the left heel). The stances get wider and shorter yes... but the swing should stay the same. Now, swing the club the same way for each shot.

In my humble opinion you have the makings of a very good driver swing. And you already have a pretty solid iron swing to boot.

The wrists look a little tense with the driver, especially at the top of the swing, you seem to fight letting your wrists cock naturally. Also, narrow the stance just a bit as mentioned on SA. (My stance is too narrow so we both just need to find that hapopy medium). Also noted how you "spun out" with your left foot at the end of the swing (also mentioned on SA). Doesn't appear that you are wearing golf shoes/spikes, those will help your footwork big time.

Where are your misses usually with your driver? Do you tend to push it to the right ever?

You turn through the ball very well with both swings, good tempo as well. Our swings are very similar. But your set-up looks a little arkward and uncomfortable. But if it is working for you I wouldnt change much. Perhaps just a tweak here and there. I would just try to get into a little more athletic position at address, with a little knee flex, and see if you're comfortable with it.

I think I get what your saying, should my hips be slowing down a little bit to get my hands through?

I actually stop my hips coming into impact, but im not sure if it right for anyone else. I'll explain. I do the whole lead with your hips thing from the top, but thats where my effort to open to the left ends. My hips stop at the position i set them from the top until my hands past them and I use the momentum of my shoulders to complete the turn to the left. My pro hates this move because he thinks it will eventulally lead to alot of slices and blocked shots. He thinks ive just been lucky with the timing of it. But overall i do think its a good idea to try to get as little hip movement, right or left, as possible.

1) I think your driver stance it too wide
2) Your hands start too far behind the ball at address, might be camera angle
3) I think your wrist cock is too late and not complete
4) Too much hip rotation on your back swing, twist more at the waist and less at the hip

If you haven't seen the Tiger swing portrait you should....it is amazing. He how still everything is and how simple and robotic it looks.
