I was pulling for Sergio! It was a shame he didn't win. Although my favorite golfer is Brandt Snedeker!

Did you guys hear all of the talk about the rough at the PGA Champ.? It sounds like it was nasty to play out of.

I was pulling for Harrington, but Sergio held it together pretty well. End of the story though is he bogeyed two of the last three holes, and missed a pretty easy putt on 17.

It wouldn't be out of line to call that a collapse under pressure. I'll give Sergio good marks on his post round comments: he dealt well with some pretty foolish questions that were simply designed to bait him.

I think the rough was a little harsh for the PGA Championship. On the other hand it is a major Championship and these guys are Pros. I think one of the reasons for the high rough was to keep the reputation of Oakland Hills being "The Monster", and also for the average golfer watching from outside the ropes and on television it shows that the guys on tour are human. 81 from Mahon on Thursday, 84 from Monty on friday (I loved it), and 85 from Mediate on Sunday. I think that is what the average golfer wants to see.

Yeah... I love to see people frustrated and failing at what they do best...

(I'm joking, by the way.) I also think its a pretty lame comment that you enjoyed Monty's 84 on Friday. Whatever happened to sportsmanship? To stay on topic. I would have been happy with either player (Harrington or Garcia). I was probably rooting (just giving the edge) for Garcia. But either was good.

I'll give Sergio good marks on his post round comments: he dealt well with some pretty foolish questions that were simply designed to bait him.

I think he learned from the mistakes after the 07 Open Championship about not blaming everything else for his failure and stayed somewhat poised after the PGA.

It's only a matter of time before Garcia wins one. His demeanor is much different than in the past, and he will get his in the near future. It's just Harrington's time right now.

splendid acumen ! Agree with everything (and also not wishing to take anything away from Padraig's victory) I think he is a fantastic talent and ball-striker.. I know he is not that a popular character, but as a golfer he is exciting to watch.

We've been hearing the "it's only a matter of time" comment for nearly a decade now. He's had several spendid chances, and managed to lose every one. Sunday, as I recall, he had a one stroke lead with what, three or four to play? He lost by two, and finished bogey , par, bogey, missing a birdie putt at 17 that was certainly easier than the one Padraig made. It's hard to consider that as performing well under pressure. That takes nothing away from Harrington, who applied all the pressure, which Sergio once again couldn't handle.

when Sergio missed that putt at Carnoustie, that would have destroyed most pro golfers for quite a while. so whatever you think of Sergio, the way he carried on after that loss speaks volumes of his fortitude.

i don't know if i like Sergio, but you have to respect him in that regard.

Yeah, but how many actually believed that in the past with his hideous putting down the stretch and whiny attitude? Sergio is a different golfer right now, and that truly makes it only a "matter of time" before he gets the job done. It's obvious he has transformed into a much more well-rounded golfer, especially when it comes to the mental side of things.

Winning the players and taking second in the pga is far from a disappointing season. Harrington caught fire on the back and destroyed. That's not the same thing as Sergio choking under pressure. Sergio is improving his composure on the course and it is only a matter of time before he takes a major.

Too bad Sergio chunked his chip shot on the par five just in front of the green that gave him a par instead of a birdie, could have made a difference, under pressure his putting is not solid, I though that his putt on 17th a shorter distance then Paddy's........... he pulled that putt.

his comment after the round were much better than in the 07 Open, maybe he's growing up or getting advise from good people.

I thought it was going to be his after the birdie on 6, but these things do happen, once one falls the it will be mulitple. I think that he has got his demenaour right and is looking at the positives. The interview on friday said it all that it will happen and that was a major champion speaking. Harrington won the competition again on sunday and perhaps he shouldn't of missed the green on 16 but the way he was playing meant he shouldn't want to push it home. And the bogey on 18 was basically in line with most of the field when the only birdie was a chip in from a 100 yrds. No way was it a wilt, plainly harrington turned it on at the end of the round whereas sergio did at the end

I thought Sergio putted better than I've seen him in a long time. He missed an awful lot of 3 footers in the past. He's always been one of the purest strikers of the ball in the game, especially with his long irons. I agree that his attitude has improved and I think that he will win a major in the next 2 years.
