I have a Rossie I've been playing with for a few years. It's been solid, but never spectacular. As with all clubs, I'm always looking for it's "better" replacement.

I thought I found one in the Yes! Tiffany. I spent a month going back and forth, testing it, etc... Finally pulled the trigger and picked it up. After three games I have yet to get a feel for this thing. I've got a cup at home I putt at and am even inconsistent at home.. I think I'm just used to the Odyssey inserts?

So last night I break out the old Rossie and bang 6 right into the cup at home from 10'. Shit.. So now I have a "new" $150 Yes! paper weight and an "old" Rossie than I'm bangin' with...

Do I stick it out with the Yes! or take my lumps and go back to the Rossie...

Gack!

You go with what works, whether it's a $200 putter or one you found at a garage sale for 25 cents. If the cheap one works, it's priceless; if the expensive one doesn't work, well you already called it a paperweight.

Don't get rid of the new high dollar putter yet though, use your old one on the course and practice with the new one. If it doesn't start working for you, then consider getting rid of it. You never want to give up on it too early but the longer you keep it and use it, the less likely you'll recoup a good percentage of your cash outlay on it.

i have a Tiffany as well, and just never got any confidence or feel with it. I'm thinking of trading, but I doubt it will happen. I'm going to keep this club until I get it right.

But that might end up being like "I'm going to wear these shoes until they fit and are comfortable" (they're narrow and u wear wides).

If a club just isnt working for you, move on to one that does. The cup couldnt care less how much you paid for your putter or what fancy brand name is on it.
A while back I bought a Scotty Cameron Red-X off of Ebay. Everyone talks about how Camerons are such great putters and at the time I was still a Titleist nut, so I managed to get one cheap on Ebay and gave it a shot.
I HATED that putter. It had no feel and I always hit my putts to the right. When you go from using one putter and 2-putting almost all of the time, and then go to a new putter and start 5-putting, something is wrong.
I tried the Cameron for a few rounds but just never got the feel for it, so I listed it on Ebay and sold it.
I now have a Mizuno TPM #2 and couldnt be happier. For me, even moreso with a putter than any other club, it has to have a certain, "vibe" when I pick it up. If it doesnt have that vibe, its not the putter for me. The 2 Titleist Bullseyes Ive had and the Mizuno TPM I have now definetly have that vibe, the Red-X did not.
The moral of the story: if a club isnt working for you, theres no sense in devoting a lot of time to "getting used to it" because in the end you are just wasting your time.
In a lot of ways, putters are like women. Some days they love you and other days they break your heart and when you realize that things just arent working out with one, you need to just end it and move on to another one.

As a matter of fact I actually did that with my Adidas, I made a post about them not fitting, everyone insisted on selling them, and i told them all I was going to make them fit and they did. Couldn't be more comfortable.

dooh

my bad - wrong example in your case. But I hope you get what I was expressing, that sometimes it never works and its a bad fit. Kudos to you Dent for sticking with it, thick or thin.

In your sig it says that it has a fat grip on it, that would definetly make a difference if the rossie had a regular grip. Also check if the length, lie, shaft shape (straight-in, single/double bend, plumbers neck) are the same

Thanks for the good advice all. I think I will practice with it but go back to playing the Rossie. Give her some time but not too much if I don't see improvement.

Ya, I put the jumbo on because the stock grip is so small. It's actually helped quite a bit. Not enough, but more stable for sure.

That said, I'll look at the other pieces as well... Here's the difference between the two putters. With the Rossie I can line up from anywhere and feel good that I'm going to get close. BUT, I'm nover %100 that I'm going to drain it. Once in a while I'll drain one, but I never have a certainty. With the Yes!, most of the time I'm really uncertain. BUT about three puts a round I KNOW exactly how to hit the Yes! to make the ball go in the hole and it works. It's bizarre to be so unsure on most puts and yet know exactly what to do on %10 of the others. Thus the dilemma...

Don't they have a practice green where you can test a putter before you buy it? I would be out a lot of money if I played half of a season with a putter that could not make putts. In fact after three rounds of aggravation that putter would be toast. I don' care how much it costs. Price doesn't equal success. If you can putt with a 9$ putter or a broom handle then that's the putter. If you putt well with a $400 putter then that's your putter. Putting is 30-40 percent of your game. Would you use a driver for half of a season that you couldn't hit?

I spent a few weeks going back and forth at GS with the putter. They have a huge green that only funnels the balls into the holes a little bit.. I must have tested every putter there... The Tiffany felt the best.. The only one that was close for me was the sabertooth.. Probably because it shares the same insert with my Rossie.. And I read it's no slouch anyway..

Hey... maybe I'll use their 90/90 to take the Tiffany back and get a sabertooth!
