Now dont give me all the, go get fitted, i know i need to get fitted, but i have zero money right now.

I currently play a 10.5 degree Superquad TP, with a 67 gram V2, 2.2 torque.

When i hit it well, it starts pretty low, but rises for a while, but i have a tendency to lose it right if im not careful, like some decent sized slices, even tho i really dont feel imt aking a slice swing, so im thinking my swing may require a little more torque.

So heres what im considering, a slightly heavier shaft, 75 grams, more like 3.0 torque, wiht a 9.0 club head, either hte D2, 905R, L4vX/F, am honestly looking to get away from taylormade drivers..

Any thoughts on shafts or heads?

Most of the heavier shafts I've seen seem to have lower torque values....at least shafts in the same series.

I'm hitting a simular driver shaft as yours....they are fairly whippy compared to the 75 and 85 gram versions I've hit. I personally love the extra bit of pop it provides, but I have a slow transition into my downswing...almost a bit of a pause.

All I can say about heads is that I've been very pleased with mine over the last few months. I also hit a buddies TM...not sure which model...has 4 movable screws on it????.......anyway it was nice, too, but his shaft was a bit more stout than what I'd need.....lower trajectory but straight.

I can't figure out how someone with a $2000 bag of clubs can't afford a clubfitting. Around here it costs $50 and they will apply that towards your club or reshaft purchase.

My bag didnt cost me even 1000 dollars..

driver, 190, plus 70 for the shaft, 3 wood- Found it on the driving range, hybrid- Won it at a charity for a friend who was in a car crash, Irons, traded a 3 wood and a hybrid, wedges- lobber and 64 were bought for a combined totaly of 60 bucks, the 54 was traded for, the circa i traded a del mar for, which i paid 100 bucks for, so please, dont judge me on my clubs, youd be a fool to buy stuff full price, Just because i liek my clubs doesnt mean you should have ideas about me because i find ways to get nice gear.. I dont have money for a fitting because, frankly, i make minumum wage, i have school, i have stuff going on, im not gonna get any clubs for chirstmas, thats not how my family works, i have enough money to buy a used driver, and then put a upgraded shaft in it, i put 50 bucks out for a fitting, thats 50 bucks less i have for a new club.. and a new club does me a whole lot more good that some information..Im 16, who cares.. Now, if anyone has any ideas for a shaft, or any other clubs that come in 9.0 degrees, d be more than willing to listen, Thanks Dub, i will definetly look into the g10 nect time im out! Bakke.

Your ball flight description sounds like your getting a lot of back spin,I think the 9* head would be a bad move as it generates a little more spin as is a bit harder to hit,the driver you have is a class one with a great shaft. You just need to fix your swing.

Perhaps if you started out a thread in a different manner, you may get answers you would deem more helpful?

If I was in the market for a different, used, cheap driver with a different head or shaft, I would try hitting a bunch of clubs in the used bin somehwere. As was stated earlier, typically the heavier the shaft the less torque it has, so you may want to try out some of the Aldila or Graphite Design offerings, the NV 65 or 75 and YS-6 both have 3.0 to 3.5 deg. of torque and are quite popular and playable.

Once you find a shaft you like, do some searching on ebay or the for sale forum here. If you pick up a model from last year or the year before, you can probably pick up relatively cheap.

perhaps i do need to change my opening a bit.. I have about 300 dollars saved from work right nwo that i can play around with, Now, thats not honestly a whole lot to get a driver from, espeically if i take 50 dollars away to get fitted, ive already been fitted for irons, and all my results were pretty damn standard, i know my swing speeds etc etc,

Bruce-I am honestly a bit confuesed.. Wouldnt 9 degree lower the ball flight? Not increase my spin? wouldnt a higher loft such as 12 increase my spin/ball flight? i under stand that lower loft is harder to hit, but i dont see how that would raise my ball flight..

Dent- My apologies, i worded that very poorley, i have money, just not much to spend on getting fitted at the moment..

Magnus- Thank you for your help sir, although i am no longer allowed to use the marketplace on this site :/

My advice is to buy used drivers off eBay (3ballsgolf is a bargain) and try them. If you don't like them you can sell them on Craigslist pretty quick and for a very small loss.

Hmm, thats a great strategy

, because he can buy a driver he doesn't even hit well, but already sell his driver, so he can be stuck with a horrible driver for him until he can sell it, if it even sells. Bad advice

IMO one of the best drivers out there is the Hyper X. It is very underrated, and without a doubt the longest driver I have ever hit.

For having about $300, I would get the fitting for $50. That leaves you with a decent chunk of change to get one of last year's drivers with a custom shaft to fit your swing. As others have said, you can sell your current driver or trade it in towards your new driver. It's better to get it right the first time rather than having to buy and sell and buy and sell until you find the driver you like.

    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
