Is anybody suprised by this news? He has a 4 week suspension for now. "For now" being the operative words. From what I read he will have to undergo voluntary counselling. Do you guys think trouble looks for him or he looks for trouble? Undoubtedly people will try to test pro athletes off the field. But athletes often put themselves in bad situations. This is true of many people, and athletes are people too.

Any other thoughts? Do you guys think he will straighten up before his marketability, talents and youth are in the tank?

No and Hell no. He's a loser. Larry Johnson is marginally better. Too many pro athletes think they are above everybody else. Hope he never plays again. How many chances do you give a grown man?

My Equipment:

Goldwin AVDP Irons (5-10 plus PW);

What in the world did he do now? You hear of these cornerbacks getting shot in night clubs and feel way bad for them and their families, but if Pacman got shot, Roger might either: a. crap himself in excitement b. the league will seem like a way nicer/safer place. This guy just asks for it, he knows the draws confrontations when he goes to night clubs, but boy he's there every night.

[QUOTE=st0wgolf08;221230]What in the world did he do now? QUOTE]

Well I could copy and paste some details....like it really matters. But in a nutshell:

Jones got into an altercation with his own bodyguard at a private party in a hotel bathroom. The cops were called but no charges were filed. Doesn't seem to be as big of a deal as "making it rain" in the strip club and inciting a riot and shooting. But from what I read last week (the incident occured Oct 7) "Crapman" was already scheduled for a meeting with Goodell the very next day! Goodell has been reported as not ruling out a lifetime ban for Jones.

I'm a huge Titans fan and can tell you that since the Titans drafted him in '05 he has had 12 TWELVE!!! police interventions and 6 SIX!!! arrests. He's coming off of a 17 month suspension and has only been reinstated 6 weeks. Only Jerry Jones would take on this loser, but that's another rant. The Titans on the other hand realized they could do just fine without him. In fact they are doing better. 5 and 0 aint a bad start, even if it was with a soft schedule.

Supposedly, Jones has a league-approved and team appointed body guard with him at all times when he's outside his home. Apparently, he was engaged in an altercation with said body guard that was public enough for the police to be called. No charges were filed but it was enough of an issue for the league to suspend him again.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

You have to be a complete doof, idiot, dimwit, egghead, to get in a fight with someone who was hired by the NFL to protect you. I mean seriously. Just a complete bonehead.

So, he had 4 weeks to think about things. I hope they dump him and call him ineligible for life. They need to set a precedent with these young, up & comers who think they own the world and can do whatever they want. Make him go to Canada or the Arena league. If he's going to be a child, treat him accordingly.

No, and I would say his marketability is already pretty much in the tank.

Nice to see another Titans fan in east TN - There aren't many of us. I went to college at MTSU and lived in the Murfreesboro area from 1999-2005. It never ceases to amaze me how different the sports culture is between middle and east TN. I throw up a little every time I see someone walking around here wearing a Colts jersey.

The fact that the Cowboys felt the need to assign him a bodyguard is evidence enough that his football career isn't his top priority.

As a Cowboys fan, I'm happy. The guy hasn't lived up to the hype so far. It's better that this happened now rather than late in the season when they might have become dependant upon him (and it was a question of when, not if, he would F-up again). And now the Cowboys get a draft pick back from the Titans so this experiment cost them basically nothing. And the Roy Williams trade doesn't hurt my feelings either.
As a person, I can't decide if I feel bad for the guy (he's known nothing but the thug life since he was born) or if I think he's the biggest dumb-ass of all time and deserves any punishment he gets. But I'm leaning toward the latter.

He was not in a night club. He was in a bathroom at the lobby of an upscale hotel. Secondly, the cops came and interviewed the entire staff and found no reason to arrest, anyone.

I'm not saying Pacman is a misunderstood person. He's not. However, this "incident" is far from being a disciplinary issue. As for Larry Johnson, he's getting sued, now, because some girl went up and grabbed him and he pushed her away from him. It's funny how it's okay from some drunk skank to grab an athlete in a club but if it were the other way around...

It's not the first time for Larry Johnson either. Funny how trouble continues to find the same players over and over and over. These players need to make better choices. But they don't.

If I understand correctly, the dispute between Jones and the bodyguard was alcohol-related and his return to the NFL was partially contingent upon him avoiding alcohol. So, in Pacman's case it was a disciplinary issue.

    • Why should SuperSpeed get 3x of Stack's profits? I get the part about SuperSpeed wanting damages sustained as a result of Stack, but I don't get why SuperSpeed feels that they're entitled to both Stack's profits and damages.   Does anyone know/think SuperSpeed actually has a case here?
    • https://static1.squarespace.com/static/603d222df4a6a57df7ef3e29/t/663cdba5d89e3a1848dab8d1/1715264422455/US_DIS_ILND_1_24cv3749_d34676497e293_COMPLAINT_filed_by_SuperSpeed_Golf_LLC_Jury_Demand.pdf The full complaint is there, but  basically, SuperSpeed (SS*) is claiming the Stack System (SS*) Stack System’s [sic] produces inflated metrics later used to, [sic] mislead and deceive consumers. Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Written confirmation within 30 days of an injunction detailing the manner and form in which Stack System has complied. An order that Stack System disseminate corrective advertising informing consumers, the trade, and the public of Stack System’s unlawful conduct. 3X all profits received by Stack System as a result of its unlawful actions. 3X all damages sustained by SuperSpeed (as a result of Stack System’s actions) The cost of the action All reasonable attorney fees All other relief to which SuperSpeed are entitled and such other or additional relief as just and proper. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
