***CAN'T GET URL'S TO WORK...PLEASE HELP***

I went and got some lessons over the Summer and my swing got much better. I'm playing pretty well right now, but before I started taking lessons this was my swing:

I've added about 20 yards to my drives and 10-15 yards with each iron!

Still some things I'd like to work on this off-season to engrave into my swing such as:
-Shorter backswing.
-More extension through the ball.
-A little bit less flat.

It would really help if we could see the swing... Try putting the link in [url] tabs, I think that works.

Thanks for fixing the video, Iacas.

Anyone have any comments or advice on my swing?

I'm not looking for a major overhaul or anything, but any type of simple tips or stuff to work on would be cool as I approach the 'off-season.' My handicap has continued to go down for the most part (my lowest was 9.9, really probably an 11 now.) and I've only been playing 2 1/2 years, so I don't think I'd change a lot, but some simple stuff could help me. Thanks guys.

bend at your waist more, you look quite rigid and your swing looks stiff. this will help you get a nice turn instead of a sway and u will start hitting the ball further than you have already improved.

I'm with Andrea, you bring the club way inside and flat on the takeaway. It is far from a conventional swing. So you have to make a number of compensating moves to get the clubhead back down to the ball and squared up to the ball. You do a pretty good job of that because you finish on a much better plane. With good hand-eye coordination and athletic ability one can make such compensations and still hit the ball pretty well. But it will probably limit your improvement in the long run.

What I see is you doing a big roll of the forearms or wrists at the beginning of the takeaway and you drag your arms behind you with minimum shoulder turn. You want to start with the shoulder turn doing all the lifting and rotating the club back. More to it than that for sure but that is a short analysis.

Dude, I am having the exact same problem as you with a takeaway that is too much inside and flat. In fact, your swing and mine with long clubs are probably almost carbon copy at this point.

To fix the issue, I have been working on keeping the hands quiet and only rolling the left forearm on the take away (which helps get the shaft on plane). My problem stems from trying too much to open the clubface with the hands on the backswing, giving a false sense of "getting on plane". If you instead leave the hands quiet, and use the forearm instead while maintaining your wrist angles, it will help quiet the backswing, shorten it a bit, and prevent you from getting too wristy on the takeaway. As a result, the club loops inside, up to the top, and across the line, then on the downswing you can unload too early and cast the club. Feels very much out of control at the top too and makes it really hard to square the face consistently.

Try the forearm control method, and think SMOOOTH away from the ball.

Hmm, it looks like you have too much weight on your heels, which could lead to a flatter swing. Try putting more weight on the balls of your feet and see what happens.

keep your hands straight in front of your chest at all times during the swing, this way you maintain the V that your arms create and will allow you to swing much more consistently. your hands get so far behind its a wonder they catch up at all. do you feel like you have to swing hard to hit the ball well? this is why you are just playing catch up.

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
    • This isn't some kind of natural fact. It's a lot more complicated than this implies.
