I've regripped my entire set easily, but on my 7 iron the butt end is all sticky. Everytime I pull it out of my bag there is a tacky goo on it and its really annoying. WHAT IS THAT?! and how do i get rid of it. Its only that club by the way

Have you tried to wet a rag with grip solvent and wipe off the sticky goo?

Thats really bizzare just bring it back to the store and ask if they can do anything about it. Or just buy a new grip.

why don't you just regrip it?

because its a brand new tour velvet cord. I also did the grip job myself so I cant take it back to the store. Maybe i used too much solvent and the tape is still not dry? Did the gripping about a month ago.

Perhaps, and this is a shot in the dark as you said the gripping was done quite a while ago, there may be something in the bottom of your golf bag? Do you have a bag with club dividers? Maybe there is somehting in the bottom of the bag in the slot where your 7 iron sits? Worth a shot to look in there before you start hacking grips off...

The goo is probably coming from the hole on the butt end. I would take off the grip and use a sort of snaking cleaning brush to get the glue out. It probably hardens at night and then loosens up when you play, causing it to run.

Leave the club out of the bag, butt end down and see if it is has goo on it. Probably used a little to much solvent that is in the bottom of your bag now and it get on the club.

I agree completely.

Sort of did the same thing with my 3 wood a few years ago. It most assuredly transferred the "goo" to the bottom of my bag.

Disclaimer:
My comment is just an aside and doesn't address your problem.

I know this doesn't solve your problem, but that's why I started using an air compressor for regripping. There is zero mess involved, plus its easy to experiment with number of tape wraps, type of grips etc. Plus you can start using them right away.

Google it, it's real cool and super fast to do.
