I'm probably going to be pulling the 5 Wood out of my bag soon when I buy a Gap Wedge. This will leave me with only one fairway wood. Do you guys that only carry one fairway wood just carry a 3 Wood or would a 4 Wood be better if you only carry one?

I dropped my 5W for a 2H, and my 3i for my 3H, never hit a 4W. I could hit my 2H almost as far as my 5W, but I am much more accurate with the 2H. So, I keep my 3W for fairway approach shots, and off the tee occasionally.

Keep the 3 wood and choke down for 4 wood distances.

I go 4 wood. It's a confident 235. I can hit it 250 if necessary, or hit it 220. I like it. It's like a 3 wood and a 5 wood.

your 20* hybrid almost replaces your 5w all by itself.. stick with the 3wood

That is the direction I have gone. I feel I have it covered now.

Most of it depends on your yardage gaps between clubs, but if youo want to replace 2 clubs with one, dumping 3 & 5 for a 4 is not a bad thing.

I carry G10 4 wood and it does everything I ask of it. I use it off the tee or can go down the grip when I need a bit more club on a long par 3. I think having a couple of extra degrees loft also makes hitting it off the deck that bit less daunting than a 3 wood

Don't let the extra loft fool you into thinking it's shorter than a 3 wood - the G10 4 wood has the same length shaft as the G10 3 wood and with a good strike you can really put the ball out there.

I carry a 4 wood and I like it, but I'm a traditionalist when it comes to club selections. I'm not a big fan of the hybrids and this club goes about 15 yards further than my 3i which works well for me. I would recommend that you get your distance gaps consistent or at least just know the clubs you do carry so you can hit your desired yardages.

I play a 4 wood. I'm a decently long hitter so it drops around 245-250 with a lot of spin for me. I chose to go with a 4 wood instead of a 3 because you get just that tad bit more forgiveness with enough length and I can hit a low stinger with it pretty well. It's just a very versatile club for me while being extremely accurate.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I recently dropped my 3W for a 4W and have been very happy. A 4W is easier to hit off turf than a 3W and longer than a 5W. To me it seems like a perfect combination of trajectory and length. Since I have stated playing it I have seen very little difference in length between it and my old 3W but there is no doubt it's easier to hit. Yesterday I hit it out of a fairway bunker just over the green 215 yards away - it had plenty of loft to clear the lip and was high enough that it would have stopped on green if I hadn't flown over it.

    • Day 2: did my Evolver drill in the mirror.  No club, just did the motion. And this time I am confident I am doing it correctly.
    • Nothing is assured and lots of talented young athletes in many sports fail to achieve greatness. as was said, injuries, growth, lots of things can come into play, And let’s let honest, over the years a few players have been branded “The Next Tiger Woods” and yet there is only 1 Tiger Woods. My initial point was if he can do a great breakout it may capture the attention of a new generation.  Back in the 70s it was Secretariat in horse racing, we also had Jordan in basketball and let’s not forget Tiger for golf.  Stories get people interested and I think golf needs a new story. I will pull for him and hope it works out but there are so many factors that come into play you just do not know, But I can hope.
