There's been plenty of discussion about Golf being included in the Olympics but how about the other sport that's looking likely, Rugby.

For anyone that doesn't know, the format that's been suggested for the Olympics is the seven a side version with 7 minute halves, instead of the normal 15 per side and 40 minute halves.

Personally I think rugby sevens is a great choice for the Olympics. Rugby is growing in popularity world wide and the sevens format should work great for the Olympics. It's fast paced with plenty of action and which makes it easy for non-rugby fans to get into (if you've even watched a sevens tournament you know how much of a party it usually is), the short games means you can fit a tournament into 2 days so it won't take up too much time, the Olympic medal will be the pinnacle of achievement in the sport and it's been run very successfully in a similar format at the Commonwealth Games. Plus it doesn't hurt that New Zealand are rather good at it .

I would love to see rugby in the Olympics. I have played the last few years in highschool, 2008 state champs also. This upcoming spring will be my last season though.
But I really think Rugby Sevens should be in the Olympics. Awesome to watch.

I played Rugby in High School as well. After playing nearly every sport, Rugby was by far the most fun. It definitely stresses the importance of working as a team. Although I am glad to see 7s as a potential Olympic sport, I would rather see a full squad competing, but I am still happy nonetheless.

Can we just call it now, New Zealand for the Gold. Those guys dominate. But yeah, Rugby would be a great addition to the Olympics.

Love rugby and would like to see it in the Olympics but a fan of sevens. It's certainly fast but it's kind of like watching arena football.

Not as much as you might think they do,they have only won 1 Rugby World Cup back in 1987.

Ahh but don't forget that this is sevens we're talking about here. Although NZ has an unrivaled ability to choke in the 15 man version world cup, when it comes to sevens we've won the IRB Sevens World Series 8 times in the last 10 years and all three gold medals when it's been played at the Commonwealth Games.

Sevens rugby would be great in the olympics. My friends and i started playing in college and it is a great sport that a lot of people would love if they were introduced to it.

Rugby is a very interesting sport to watch. I have absolutely no idea how the game is supposed to be played, no idea on strategies or rules, only see it about once every couple years but it looks pretty awesome so I'm all for it. Olympics also means more exposure to the American audience, the majority of whom have never seen rugby before.

I think it would be a good move to add rugby. In my opinion, golf does not belong there. There are enough major golf tournaments for professionals and amateurs, and trying to fit the Olympics in will be difficult. It is like that new baseball series in the spring where Major Leaguers from the US have to decide whether to play there or get ready for the season here. Why crowd the schedule?

Rugby should be a nice fit, and I think it will be approved.

Awesome for New Zealand to show some of its rugby talent to the world and even countries like kenya, samoa, tonga who are getting much better at sevens. This will only help teams like this get better.

They say golf is like life, but don't believe them. Golf is more complicated than that.

This was my thought as well. With an arena such as the Olympics, NZ may not be on top of sevens for long!

Kinda like Basketball. It is really entertaining to watch other teams totally destroy our NBA players every once in a while.

    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
    • Day 96 (18 Mar 24) - Continued work with the Divot Board with the GW and hard foam balls.  Focused on small target/small miss…setup to hit target about 30yds out - success if it hit within 6’ circle of target, fail if outside.  Had decent success averaging about 3 out of 4 (hitting in groups of four).

    • I'm relieved someone finally defined hiking. I was giddy when I saw these new TPI videos a day or so after they dropped. Very easy to understand the problem and solution the way they have presented it. Been working on fixing this for about a year and a half now. It's nice to be able to call it something so communication becomes easy.  I was working on more lateral and up too, but just having someone define it clearly in video form was so helpful for me to continue confidently with what I thought was wrong and how I had to fix it.  My conceptual error here was just trying to rotate like a tour pro but without including the necessary forward pressure/weight shift associated with enough lateral and upward motion of the pelvis.  This video is great too, as is Greg Rose.
    • Day 2.    couple mins of rolling putts end over end.    10 mins of Slow, mirror work, working on starting the downswing and impact wrist positions. Hit a couple balls into the net after.    Then finished with a couple chips to see if I could repeat what I worked on yesterday.
