today i hit the titleist ap2 during a custom fitting session and they're a great club. my shaft is the project x 5.5 and they gave me a nice high ballflight. they are quite forgiving as well so i would suggest getting these irons

im going to have to. one thing im worried about is of over thinking the decision. i tend to worry quite a bit. yet at the same time im very much a feel player so im going to have to try a few out. to be honest i didnt give Mizuno much thought until i tried them.....extremely crisp feel.

Like everyone says, go for what you like after you test them. I'd agree, Mizuno blades are all pretty sweet clubs, although I've never owned any I have hit some. I got my taylormade rac MB's back in 2003 and loved them too, enough to get a set of the TP MB smokes about 2 weeks ago. You should try those out too if given the opportunity, I still can't get over how they look and feel. Definitely not forgiving, but at a 2.4 hdcp, I think you could manage :P

i have the tp z mb smoke wedges and love em to death. but TM doesnt make the irons in lefty. almost no company makes their best irons in lefty so it gets a little frustrating when your trying to makes changes/adjustments to your game and equipment that will help get you to get to play scratch golf or better without having the advantage of more equipment choices.

A lot of good sets out there, it can be confusing trying to decide. But I have never spoken with anyone who doesn't like their Mizuno's. Great sticks, can't go wrong with those. For me it is almost always best to go with my initial decision or gut feel. Unless there is an overwhelming reason to discard it, I always have regrets when I go against my initial thought.

I just got the ap2's and they are very nice clubs. They have good feel, forgiveness and great looks so I can't see you going wrong with these. However after reading reviews and hitting them I have to agree that Mizuno's do have more of a buttery feel to them. To me I don't mind having a "muted" feel which describes the ap2's as long as the shots go where I want them to.

You should defenintely try the 58s. I LOVE those clubs, in fact they will probably be in my bag soon. Just have to try the titleist 710s....... not to hijack the thread but does anyone know when the titleists are coming out?

Try several. Pick the clubs that score best and also look nice. Pick the clubs that inspire confidence.

I'd consider any of these:
MP-57
MP-62
J-36 combo (cb and blades)
AP2
TP MB Smoke
Idea Pro black
X-forged

driver: FT-i tlcg 9.5˚ (Matrix Ozik XCONN Stiff)
4 wood: G10 (ProLaunch Red FW stiff)
3 -PW: :Titleist: 695 mb (Rifle flighted 6.0)
wedges:, 52˚, 56˚, 60˚
putter: Studio Select Newport 1.5

Of the new forged irons I've hit lately, I would rank them like this

1) Callaway 2009 X-Forged
2) Mizuno MP-62
3) Titleist AP2

The price is nice on the Bridgestone J-36. I would definitely try those too.

I decided to go the Mizuno forged route earlier this year and after seeing the full range on display was torn between either the MP57's or the MX200's.
I tried out both clubs over the course of a couple of weeks, and my initial findings were that the 200's were better for me. I was hitting the 57's "ok" but felt more confident at address with the 200's. Don't know why...

Went for a fitting session at Mizuno's HQ in New Malden, Surrey where I tried both irons again....and the results confirmed my initial thoughts.
I purchased a set of 200's and absolutely love them.
Take your time, try to narrow it down to a couple of choices and then see how you get on. Your first impressions will most probably be right.

In the bag......

Mizuno all the way. I just can't describe how sweet my new MX-950s feel at impact. I am pretty sure any Mizuno MP line iron will feel even sweeter. I suggest you try the new MP58 or the MP62.

Birdies: 18
