I've been considering for a while adding a 1 hybrid of sorts to my bag, but I don't see a whole lot of them at my local golf shops. Who's used what and with what success?

In the bag:
Driver: r7 quad v2 stiff
3-Wood: XLS
Hybrid: X
Irons: CG Golds 3-GWSW: x forged 56/13LW: Vokey sm 60/.08Putter: Callie 35''Ball: pro v1

I have a 16 degree Cobra Baffler DWS hybrid, and it's a great club. It's easy to hit, usually with a little draw, and effective (for me) from just over 200 yds up to 250 yds off the tee. It's actually a constant debate for me whether I should carry my Titleist 3 wood or the Cobra Hybrid. It's still the club with which I hit my best shot, a 245 yd approach on a par 5 to about 3 feet.

I'm stalking the internet to try and find one of these. I love my Baffler, and I'd love to try this out to replace my awkward 3w. So I guess I'm in the same boat as the OP right now~

i've used a 16 nickent genex. I preferred it over a 4/5 wood. Its better out of the rough and in tricky areas.

Yeah-the 15.5* Nickent 3DX Ironwood is a solid hybrid 3 wood replacement.

I just took my 3w out of the bag in favor of my g10 15* and Adams Idea 17* hybrid combo. I am terribly inconsistent with the 3w and just found this setup works better for me. They get me home from 220-245 out.

I have a Nike Sumo 2 2Hybrid 17 Degrees and it's great. I use it instead of Fairway Woods now. Very easy to hit, you can get good distance as mentioned above and is very accurate. I'll take accuracy all day over a little bit of distance and less accuracy from a Wood. All from Tee or Ground.

I use a Tour Edge Exotics 2-hybrid (16*). My go-to club for 210-220 out. Great off the tee too for short par-4s or those occasional PGA-long par-3s. Has a smallish head, which I like, but some people find offputting.

I know some people who have used the 15deg 909h and loved it.

I have been interested in knowing something more about the 15* 909H. I have never seen one but I would love to try one out. Given the shorter shaft than a 3W woudn't more consistant contact yield a better overall result? Just curious is anyone on here has used the 909H 15*.

At a demo day, somebody asked the reps from Callaway and Adams if they had a 17* hybrid. Both reps cautioned against using such a "2H" hybrid unless you were a really good player. It's just too hard to hit, and you need pretty good clubhead speed to make it work.

Callaway has an 18* hybrid in the Edge Tour and FT models; Adams has a 17* in the Idea and IdeaA7, and a 16* in the Idea Black.

Focus, connect and follow through!

I play with a 16* Cobra DWS that is truly easy to hit, and I used to play with a 14* Nickent that wasn't very hard to hit either.

Only used one 16 & it was a POS knockoff. Not a good time.

But the best & longest hybrid i ever bagged was a 17* nickent 3dx with the ST90 steel shaft.

I've got a wilson 1iron that comes out in the summer that's got to be around 16* or so. It's not that hard to hit. It's the greatest tempo trainer in the world. That being said i use it at the range more than anywhere. There's a reason i'm an 18 handicap.

I've got a Wilson Staff 17* 1-iron coming in the mail tomorrow for range practice, I may end up taking it out on the course for low trajectory wind shots and the like, but I'm probably getting ahead of myself-it'll be 3* harder to hit than my Titleist Tour Model 2-iron, and that club's no picnic.

I have a G10 15deg, it's a little bit hard to hit but my bad shots with aren't nearly as bad as a terrible 3w, more forgiving too.

I have a G10 15,21,24 and 4 wedges, no woods other than driver. I'd like to try some of the newer ones, like the Adams super hybrid (I think it's called) that comes in 15

I have been toying with trying a 14 degree hybrid as I just love the 17 degree Nickent 3dx that I have. I just ordered a 17 degree 4dx with the V2 shaft on Ebay for $30 just to see how the shaft would perform. When I hit my 3 wood it is the bomb...when I mishit it...well it can get ugly. I usually reach for the hybrid.

Is there something in the design of a low lofted hybrid vs. a more traditional 3W head that makes it more difficult to hit? I would think that a shorter shafted club would be easier to hit than a longer one. Seems like more mfg's are designing lower lofted hybrids but I have to wonder why they would not have done so before now.

    • Why should SuperSpeed get 3x of Stack's profits? I get the part about SuperSpeed wanting damages sustained as a result of Stack, but I don't get why SuperSpeed feels that they're entitled to both Stack's profits and damages.   Does anyone know/think SuperSpeed actually has a case here?

Stack System’s marketing materials inflate apparent swing speed and distance gains through selective presentment of data without qualification that purported gains are not the result, in whole or part, of its training protocol and products. * Yes, I'm joking about abbreviating both "SS." SuperSpeed wants: A judgment that the Stack System has disseminated false and/or misleading information in violation of federal and Illinois law. The deletion of all false advertising distributed and recall of all packaging containing false advertising and a requirement that Stack System issue notices (written or otherwise) to that effect to all current distributors and retailers of its products and all distributors with whom Stack System has done business in the past eighteen months. Written confirmation within 30 days of an injunction detailing the manner and form in which Stack System has complied. An order that Stack System disseminate corrective advertising informing consumers, the trade, and the public of Stack System’s unlawful conduct. 3X all profits received by Stack System as a result of its unlawful actions. 3X all damages sustained by SuperSpeed (as a result of Stack System’s actions) The cost of the action All reasonable attorney fees All other relief to which SuperSpeed are entitled and such other or additional relief as just and proper. Oy.
    • I'm not doing this for the hundred and twentieth time. Sorry in advance, but you get the massively abridged version. Those guys also benefited from the weaker/shallower fields. Also, Watson's career doesn't overlap with Jack's like many think it did. Tom is nearly a decade younger. Jack won only like four majors only after Tom won his first. And Tom won more British Opens than he did all three of the other majors combined, as it was his specialty (not Jack's). Arnie's career similarly doesn't overlap Jack's as much as many think.   Jack would also tell you Tiger was the better golfer.
    • Weaker depth of fields for sure. Some of the top level guys with Jack were pretty awesome. Tom Watson had the lead on the 72nd hole of the 2009 British Open, an event where Tiger missed the cut. Old Tom was almost 60 years old. Jack himself at age 58 finished Top 10 at The 1998 Masters and scored better than Tiger, who won The Masters by 12 shots just a year before that.   The success of both Tom & Jack in older age gives some hope that maybe Tiger can find the magic again at some point. He’s still trying to figure out how to build the stamina for 72 holes after the leg injury. I would love to see him jump on the leaderboard in the coming years. I know a lot of people have given up on him at this point, but that was also true from 2014 to 2017 with the back injuries. He had a hell of a resurgence in 2018 & 2019. Would be fun to see it again.
