What Mizuno Irons Should I get?

MP-52, MP-58, MP-62?

Of these three, which is meant for the better player? Which is the hardest to hit / meant for a scratch golfer?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums and wanted to ask a similar/related question. I recently went to a golf show where I worked with a Mizuno fitter and I really fell in love with the MP-52. He actually wanted to move me up to the 62 but I told him that (at that point) my handicap was over 25. Which confused him because my swing is quite solid. I had to explain to him that I had just started playing not too long ago and basically lost a gazillion strokes when it came to chipping and putting.

I really loved the MP-52 until he came and told me the price. I'm still a college student and don't really have that sort of budget at the moment but I really love the mizuno irons. I was wondering if you guys could suggest an older model which would give a similar feel at a much lower price.

to the original question, the MP line is pretty much for better golfers. Of the ones listed the 62 would probably be the hardest to gain consistency with your handicap. Personally I selected MP-52s and they have helped me immensely in the couple of weeks that I have had them. I was getting away with a lot of bad habits with my old clubs and the MP-52 have kind of forced me into paying attention to detail. My swing has gotten bunches more consistent. Of the ones listed the 52's are the most forgiving.

Of these three, the mp-62 is for the better player. Honestly, if you are a 36.... all of these are too much club for you. Here is a link to Mizuno Europe and it charts out which clubs are made for what type of player.

I'm about a 3 handi. right now...just got on this forum and didnt change any stats.

I have the mp 30 and love them. They are 6 years old though and the grooves are done. Looking for this generation mp 30 from mizuno. Sounds like the 62's are it. Thanks.

I might be a 28 handicapper, but I can certainly recommend irons for different players categories. Specially when it comes to Mizuno.

The MP-57 might be the iron you want to look at. It's very similar to the MP-52 you said you like; the only difference you might notice is that the MP-57 has a lower trajectory than the MP-52. Seeing as the MP-57 has been replaced by the MP-58, there are some pretty good deals out there right now on the MP-57.

Like I said my last irons were the mp-30's, about 6 six years ago. I haven't played a lot in the last 2 or 3 years and haven't kept up with technology.

I figured there were plenty of golf nuts (I figured 28 handicapers wouldnt know much about the mp line) who could better inform me on my upcoming iron selection. Basically, I want to know the best player irons from mizuno that are NOT blades. I like blades but I'm don't play everyday like i use too.

Cuz I'm pretty sure the MP-14 and MP-29's were the hardest to hit irons ever made by mizuno...

I play the MP11s (occasionally). If my putting was remotely as solid as my iron play, I'd be very happy. Why specifically Mizuno, btw? What else are you looking at?

I've thought about straying from Mizuno but I'm was very happy with them over the last 6 years. Any similar suggestions?

Search for a thread with "New blades" in the title. There was a low handicap lady looking for new irons and several people offered suggestions. There are a lot of really good forged irons out there, but I still like the vintage forgings (whenever I see an old set of forged blades - especially with the pin in the hosel to keep the head from flying off the shaft - I drool a little bit).

Exactly. Im doubting the OP was talking about buying old irons, so the rule of thumb that the bigger the number the less forgiving applies.

Thanks. I checked them out and they look very similar (though no cavity slots). Almost in my budget range. I'm assuming your not going to get Mizuno's for under $350 or so. Well, time to make some money I guess.

exactly...funny what people will ask to validate a purchase.

I might be a 28 handicapper, but I can certainly recommend irons for different players categories. Specially when it comes to Mizuno.

This reminds me of another series of threads here where the kid had been playing the game less than five months yet was giving swing advice to others...hilarious and sad all at the same time.
