I sent two putters to the Cameron custom shot and they returned them to me as too beat to work on and maintain the Titileist integrity.

I then sent them to Tom Slighter at Slighter golf in Washington.
Great guy, high end, in his work and in his approach to making you happy.

Check out the before and after pictures. I'm truly impressed.

I find it very interesting that Cameron could not do anything with this putter but Tom Slighter seems to have made it look brand new.

Scotty Cameron doesn't like to add material like Slighter seems to have done. You're calling BS on a company that refused to take a guy's money? That seems strange.

lol... well when you put it like that it does. :)

I just thought it seemed odd that one company was able to do something that the original manufacturer who offers a service to restore putters couldn't do. It does say a lot about them in that they refused the money as a lot of companies would have just taken it. However, I've seen a lot of before and after pics of Cameron's and this one didn't seem any worse than some of the others I've seen which have had bit dents and gouges on them.

I'm sure Scotty Cameron could have done it. I have heard interviews (

http://blogs.golf.com/equipment/2009/11/ask-the-experts-scotty-cameron.htm l)with him where he said basically that he likes to maintain the weight proportion that he thinks is right when he mass produces putters. I do find an odd double standard when he does whatever a tour player likes, even with players not under Titleist contract. The man makes great putters, but it seems to me like he has a little to much pride, at least when it comes to putters. He beats around the bush on a few of these questions too.

I might be an idiot, but (famous last words...) what the hell did you do to that platinum? Also, may I ask what it cost for the refurb?

Well. I, didn't do anything to it.
JP Moore did, I only know the name because it was stamped in the face, and I was dumb enough to buy it thinking the Custom shop would
turn it into a wall hanger.
The answer I got was that the after market work would have caused the milling to remove the cameron logo and thats a no go. I'm sure it also has something to do with the final weight but it will probably never get used so who cares.

The strict 33" 350 gram, 34" 340 gram, 35" 330 gram that is mandated seems to be a little over the top. If you want and are willing to pay for something you should get it.
Perhaps a note , Your request goes against our normal recommendations of weight to legnth ratio, would you like us to proceed with your order?

As for Slighters cost $225, for what ends up being a hand made. I gave him Carte blanc
to do whatever he wanted and I'm very happy.
The Cameron shop does great work if it falls under the put it back to normal catagory.
And hard to believe cheaper

Nice job bringing those two back to life. Well done indeed. There are two others that I would trust aside from Tom if anyone needs any custom putter work or refinishing done. Got two SC newports I want done in nickel or copper and been talking to www.Mannkrafted.com and www.putterplating.com These two guys are awesome and will do just about anything you can dream up. Check out their websites for some pics. I am sending Kevin Colbert (putterplating) my Rife Antigua this morning actually. He is putting a high polish on the stainless 304 head, engraving a "V" sightline for alignment, doing all the paint fill in red (as opposed to the white it has now), installing a new UST frequency matched shaft, and putting on an Iomic midsize grip. I am sending Lamont (Mannkrafted) two Scotty Cameron Newport II teryllium putters in the coming weeks. If you have a putter you just want the factory finish applied to. An original resto if you will, Black Oxide Services has a great reputation and they are pretty cheap as well. It is worth mentioning that all three of these companies quoted me about half (or less) what the Scotty Cameron Custom Shop did. Just some FYI for anyone looking for custom putter finishes or restos.

Putter Plating may do great work, but I'm just not sure how seriously I can take a business that still uses one of those spinning e-mail icons from 1993 on their website. :)

If they are serious about their business, one would think they could put a little more effort into their online presence.

I truly love the matte finish and white sightline on your refinished putters.

I think they look awesome. I'm hoping that Cameron will consider this as an option or even better to release a new series like this.

Don't get me wrong...the California series looks sweet.....but I think a matte and red series would sell hugely.

Nice wands.
