When swinging, I should not try pushing with the rear hand correct? Let the front hand lead it through the swing? Could pushing with the rear hand cause players to hit it fat for a majority of the times?

Thanks guys/girls.

I believe the right hand is just as important as the left. You've got the club in two hands don't you? Why not use that. Using both right and left can only equate to more distance, in my opinion.

Hogan, in

Five Lessons , advises golfers to minimize conscious hand action on the followthrough. Overuse of the hands can disrupt the coordinated chain action of the swing. Proper slant on Vance87's idea: "You must hit as hard with left as with the right." (Hogan, 1985, p. 99) --------------------------------- On the downswing, if you drop your hands into the slot this prevents the right hand from taking over.

In my opinion, yes, correct. I believe that the left hand/arm/wrist is in charge of everything through the downswing and follow-through. Actually your whole left side. Stay straight and solid through impact with that left side and you'll hit some satisfying shots.

I like all the references to Hogan's Five Lessons I've been reading in Swing Tips today. 2 for 2. Great, spectacular book! Read it if you haven't already. You can not argue with one of the best ball-strikers of all time.

Sorry for reviving an old thread but having trouble with this issue right now. It seems when I concentrate on left hand/wrist I tend to come up out of the shot. Swing arc looks more like a V than a circle. I'm able to stay down when I concentrate on the right wrist and have the swing thought of pushing the handle forward with my right palm at impact.

As I said this is working, but am I setting myself up for problems down the line?

Not really. Hitting fat is a result of either swaying or changing the spine angle during the swing or error in ball position.

I agree 100%. As a lefty playing right handed, my swing is lead by left arm/hand. But I hit so many fat and even chunk shots. Right hand pushing has nothing to do with fat shots. Fat shots are caused by changing spine angle and casting club.

As for left vs right arm, I don't think left should be leading and right should be pushing. Your lower body and torso should be leading and pushing. IMHO, arms should be just passive. But what do I know.
