Will Phil's Big Win End Up Hurting Him?

I've read all the nice articles written about Phil's nice win at the Masters. It was a great win for him. No question about it.

BUT - Is all not well?

I've been seeing rumblings of a persistent rumor involving Phil and at least one other woman. Now, I realize that internet rumors are about as reliable as high school gossip, but I think this is a different case.

Before Tiger and before the countless sports blogs, and before TMZ was so big, no one really cared to look into Phil's "rumored" past. Well, today is a different story. You can bet Phil's past is getting a good look by some powerful "news" companies.

I'm just saying, don't be surprised if something BIG comes out about Phil within the coming week.

If that's the case, and whoever breaks the story has good proof, will this Masters win be a double edged sword of sorts for Phil?

If it were found that Phil cheated on his wife in the past, how big of story would that be? I don't think it would be as big as Tiger's, but BIG nonetheless.

Phil's image would also be tarnished. Right alongside Tiger's.

Or, this could all be a farce. ??????????????

If you have actual evidence of adultry, then let's hear it. Otherwise, STFU.

If it turned out to be true, I would A. Laugh, B. Text my boss, C. wait for the flood of people coming to phil's defence where they slammed tiger because its you know...only cheating once....not 20+ times....so its....not as bad....right!? (Answer: Cheating is Cheating :P) As much of a slimeball I think Phil is, I just can't see this being true, but I will gladly accept the other outcome :P

I wouldnt be surprised if the majority of those guys on tour have side women or mistresses. Most of them are millionaires that are away from home most of the time. I for one, wouldnt give a damn if phil really did have some kind of mistress. Its not important to me.

Actually, I wouldn't care either. However, it would be very interesting, to say the least, to see how the media would play it out. How would the other golfers react?

Would Phil get the similar treatment that Tiger got? What would they say about Phil then? It would be another huge blow to the golfing world if another guy who is so family oriented, and so huge, were found out to be cheating on his wife. That part would be interesting.

Golf and sports media would probably lose their shit. Most day to day golfers and tour fans wouldnt care, IMO. Did you really feel hurt and cheated when tiger admitted his affairs? I know i didnt.

Not in the least.

I think you're right about the regular fans not caring a whole lot. Look at what kind of reception Tiger got at the Masters. People want to forget and forgive. Especially if he's the best golfer in the world............. However. Like I said. I think I would have the most fun seeing how the media and all of the talking heads would react to this if it were true.

Let's be fair.....

If Phil was:

A. A jerk to the media, essentially dictating which questions and whom he would talk to
B. A dbag that blamed his poor choices on sex addiction
C. Someone who chose such esteemed females as cocktail waitresses and porn stars

I'd give him the full brunt of my BS meter and talk trash to the extent of Tiger....

I never really liked Phil much until after the 06 Open when he proclaimed, " I am such an idiot" - he owns his life and owns his mistakes...

If Phil cheated, then he's a dirtbag - rich or poor, sports hero or not, you don't cheat on your wife......but, if he comes out, owns up to his dirtbaggedness, and asks for an apology, I will give it to him.....if he hides, blames it on addiction, and then sets up his own press conference where his elite chosen are the only ones to come, then he can go pound sand....

I think someone wrote an article a few months back about how supposedly tour wives are being a little more suspicious of their guys thanks to the Tiger ordeal, and my boss definitely agrees with the above. You can finish top 30 in a few tournaments and still make over a mill in one year, thats more than most of us will make in a lifetime. I'm not arguing they are all morally corrupt or anything, but like you said I wouldn't be surprised if this is a far more common thing than people either A: want to admit, or B: even want to know. After all this tiger garbage, I really don't want to put up with more media.

Funny I watching the emotional celebration on 18 Sunday with some friends. The ladies especially were pulling for Phil because he is the anti Tiger in their minds. I reminded them who knows what Phil is really like? So don't judge him on that. You just might be disappointed. Sorry I do not get emotionally attached to any music, sports, movie, whatever stars. Does not matter how awe inspiring their story is, they will most likely disappoint you.

True or not true my opinion is that if any top player won the masters you would see the rumors fly. Sadly enough tmz and all the other tabloid sites are all over golf because of Tiger. I will also say the next guy would probably be smart enough to pay her off long before it hits the fan.
