Ok. So. I have an R9 with a Tour Issue Aldila DVS in it. I LOVE this driver. Like. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. But there's one tiny problem... I don't like working the ball with the driver. It's not that I can't. I'm just uncomfortable with it. And frankly, I'm getting tired of taylormade. SO!

My question is, which driver/shaft combo do you guys think would be the best idea for me?
I want,

Long, High, Flat, Low Spin, Not very much workability. NOT TAYLORMADE.

If you need stats, tell me.
But here are a few things you WILL need.
I have a very fast tempo.
Snap Release.
Two Plane Swing.
X-Stiff shaft.
Between 60-75 gram shaft.
Mid/High launch.
Natural shot shape is a draw
I don't generate much backspin(Around 2100)

R9; Tour Issue Aldila DVS R flex
2007 Burner 3 and 5 wood

Ping G-15 has very good ratings and with the Adilia shaft upgrade it should be a great driver. Long, straight and forgiving. I'm no expert, but that's my .02

cobra LV4 fits the bill exactly, I've got a 67g shaft and the club gives a high launch.

He's a Kid so....he needs some advise. A low HC doesn't always make you smart about golf. Sadly he'll get a hundred different answer's from smart guys like us. LOL.

Your problem is what shaft you go for. No-one here can accurately recommend what suits you best based on what you say you're after. Only thing is to try and get a decent fitting session. Anyway, if you LOVE the existing setup, why change? Seriously. You don't have to work that R9.

my 2 cents would be go see a good pro & get custom fitted. Hit as many different types of drivers as possible, get flightscoped or similar to find your best launch angle etc. Believe me this will be the best advice you get.

I was SURE I wanted a titleist 909 or Callaway Edge, hit both like buckets of sick, horrible tbh. Got fitted & actually walked away with the Nike SQ & I didnt like square drivers! But 30+ yards distance & very straight hits made me part with the money, simply a superb club for me anyway.

Remember drive for show putt for dough. Good putter will help keep scores down, a good drive sets up a low score, hope you get the right driver for YOU.

Wait, you "LOVE LOVE LOVE" your Driver, but you want to get rid of it? And BTW, you should know that the only person who can tell you what Driver/shaft combo would work best for you is a club fitter.

This brings up a question for me (sorry for any thread hi-jack, but maybe it will help original poster). Where's the best place to get fitted by a pro? The only places I know that have the best/biggest selection of drivers are places where you hit the ball into a net. I'd prefer to see the flight path and curve of a ball. And by fitted by "a pro", do you mean a pro at a golf course? Or can you just go to any ol' golf club retail shop and anyone working there can help you? Bc to me, old Joe Schmoe trying to schlep me the newest technology at the local Edwin Watts doesn't necessarily fill me with the greatest confidence that he knows what he's talking about.

If you really like the driver right now, then there is no sense in changing it. If you are set on changing it, then, all you need to change and get fitted for (professionaly) is the shaft. Depending on your swing speed, a higher weight and higher torque shaft will help to reduce workability. How much weight and torque, well, that can only be decided when you go to get fit. Good luck.

Wow. I got a lot of replies.
And yes, I am a kid. I know next to nothing about clubs. Sorry if that upsets any of you.

I'll try and reply to everyone, if I miss someone, sorry.

To the guy that said I shouldn't get rid of it. I won't actually get rid of it. I'll just get another driver, compare them, and see which one I like better. I just don't want to try like 20 million drivers. Because I refuse launch monitors, I'd have to pay to use the drivers on a range.

To the guy asking me about my spin rates. I had a typo >.< Sorry. It's 3100. I apologize.

Yes, I know a club fitter can tell me the best, most accurate information, however, I think it's fun to see the opinions of others. Some of you guys have great ideas.

And yes, I DO have to work the R9. It's a mental block with me. If I get rid of the mental block, I'll be fine. But all the screws and weights and face angle changes and such just SCREAM workability to me.

I don't understand whether you are asking for opininions of drivers that are easier to work or not.

It's not clear from your statements.

If you do want to sacrifice some forgiveness for ease of shaping shots the go demo a Titleist 909D3.

man all I know is I demod the callaway diablo driver today. WOW is all I can say. I want to compare it to the Ping G15 though, I havent tried the ping but Ive tried the cobra new ones and I like the diablo way better,

btw with the diablo I felt I could really work the ball, like if I wanted to hit it more left etc. With the cobras it was alot tougher to do.

arrogant_kid - Why do you refuse a launch monitor?

As a 1.2 handicap, seems like you should be able to assess head and shaft combinations far better than a gaggle of mid handicappers on the net.

However, I'm still confused what you are looking for. Is the R9 not workable, or do you have some sort of issue shaping shots with it due to all of the different configurations?

Where are your drives (and driver) lacking currently? Are you missing fairways, hitting the ball too high/low, wanting more forgiveness or playability?

I think he wants a straight shot every time. Try a square driver or something. Nike Machspeed.

That would be fun for a good handful of rounds... at most. I'd assume most low markers are going to want to shape their tee shots... those that hit it reasonably long often need to.
