I am about a 20 handicap but feel like I'm getting better every day. I played River Bend Links in Tunica Ms. today and I was 1 under after 6 holes. I know that don't sound like much to some but I was in the zone. Drive was in the middle of the fairway with a nice draw. Then my second shot was on the green and I had a shot at birdie. Anyway I was pretty excited about playing this well. I wound up shooting an 86, which is the best of the year for me. This was the first time I ever played this course. A par 72 at 6462 yards.

Some times you just gotta share...................

Awesome man! Golf is so fun when you are playing the game the way it is suppose to be played. Having birdie putts from any length is a great feeling because even if you miss you know par is a pretty damn good score as well.

I shot my personal 9 hole low 38 today. (Par 35, 3350y, 131/35.0) I'm still feeling the thrill of almost shooting scratch on 9 holes. Other than a 7i that hit the flag stick to 2' for a tap in birdie on the 1st hole, it was routine up and downs and a couple of GIR and 4 bogeys. 14 putts as well. :)

Best 9 holes: 35 (Trilogy at Redmond Ridge, 3163y, Par 35/70, 70.0/131)
Best 18: [b]77[b] (Palm Valley CC, 6545y, 71.4/126)
Notable career achievement: I have NEVER four-putt.

LOL, excellent! When I started golfing again 7 years ago after a 37 years hiatus all it took was 1 pured hit for the entire round and I couldn't wait to it again.

The zone is a great place to be. My last 6 rounds have bumped my handicap down from a 17 in Jan, to a 10.8 today. Even this past weekend I shot my second 79 ever. 40 on the front, and I was even through 16...then I double bogied 17 and bogied 18 for a 39 on the back lol.

Congrats on shooting the new low round.

Congratulations! I can relate! If you feel the excitement of 1 under after 6 during the round, it is a good idea to ignore the score. Add it up afterwards. I know it's tough, but it was a requirement for me to break 80. 1 under through 6 shows that you are capable. That's a third of the way there...

I am listening to the audio book Zen Golf. I definitely believe this will help me to find the zone, as opposed to waiting for it to come to me, and I highly recommend it for those looking to improve their approach to the game!

I am also am coming back after a 20 year layoff. I never add my score but my buddies started ragging on me some. That's ok, as long as I beat them. I do believe that the more you play well, the more you'll play well. I still have a problem with losing focus. That is something I really have to work on.
Thanks for the replies.
