Well, I assume you all watched Louis win the Open, and you all can see his beautiful tempo and rhythm, but did you notice that he has a red dot on his glove that he uses as a mental image so that when he sees it, it triggers his mind to go into the zone, or a deep concentration. Another player that uses something similar to this is Ernie Els. he has his glove open while he goes through his pre-shot routine, and then he closes his glove when he is walking up to the ball. I plan on trying Ernie's trigger tomorrow when I play.

I did not notice the dot, but his tempo and rhythm was pretty special to watch. Every expert on TV kept saying not if, but when he'd fold to the pressure, mean while he never changed on Sunday compared to Thursday. It really was nice to see.

I can't understand why so called TV "experts" say that his swing is nothing special. I thought having silky smooth tempo is special. Its rare you see someone with that tempo, and something many strive for. I mean look at Adam Scott, one of the best swings in all of golf, but how many tournaments has he won?

But how much could he have won? Although I will admit most of he problems are with the putter...

Jack Nicklaus wore white shoes. I think I'll wear white shoes too. :D

In all seriousness it is probably just a trigger. It works for him but I would suggest finding your own trigger. Tinker with it and see if it works, but if it doesn't don't try to press the issue.

Equipment, Setup, Finish, Balance, and Relax. All equal in importance and all dependent on each other. They are the cornerstones of a good golf swing.

Agree with Ringer...triggers are totally personal things. Some might be more convenient to use than others but it has to be whatever works for you.

My trigger is built into my preshot routine. After I've stood behind the ball to line up my shot, etc. I'll take a mini practice swing right before I walk to the ball for address (not really a swing, I just move the club through the impact area). This signals my mind that it's time to focus for the shot (and reminds me to release the club through the hitting zone).

Is this the general Louis love thread? He's going nicely in the Scandie Masters -- seven under and tied for second at the moment.

Still in second after the third round. Now 9 under. Couple of loose shots today but some hallelujah golf, too. Hit his drive into the water on 13, took a drop and still made birdie. Nice.
