Titleist 909F2 going left everytime

Recently just got a Titleist 909F2, and about 90% of my shots with it are going fairly hard left. Usually it starts left (like a pull) and just keeps hooking left. Even when it starts straight, it has a fairly pronounced draw to it.

Took it out to the range today, and every club i hit, I was stroking it right down the middle. Every iron plus my driver. The 3 wood? Left every time (off the ground and the tee). I even had my old Callaway Warbird in my bag for kicks, and I tried it out and it stroked down the middle too.

The 909F2 has a stock Voodoo stiff shaft in it.

Are these clubs known to have a tendency to hook a LOT? Or do you think it's a shaft issue? I have the same shaft in a 909H 19-degree hybrid, and don't have the hook problem with it (unless it's a direct mishit).

Really curious about this... and whether I should look into a new shaft, or a new club entirely. or could it just be an issue with my swing and just overswinging a new club out of excitement?

look into a whole new club entirely...and sell me the Titleist 909D2. :) I'll be at Interbay tomorrow.

Not sure aout the voodoo shaft but I have a 909 F2 15.5º and it also will go left more than anything else in the bag. I either play for it if the trouble is down the right or set up a little open to produce a nice high power fade.

are they center hits? or are you toe-ing them? i have the f3 and i stripe it a lot and love it both off the tee and off the ground but i hook it also when i miss it.. usually off the toe.. and when that happens look out cuz its going right (im lefty). but off the center the ball is very accurate. if they are center hits that are still hooking then my next guess would be the shaft is too whippy. that tends to hook the ball.

I would say overswinging out of excitement =D.

I got a 17* 909H recently and I hit every straight at the range and my 17* had a more pronounced draw than other clubs. On the course, I was hooking/hard drawing it. I myself have a 909D2 with the voodoo shaft on both clubs, and only struggled with the hybrid. When I demoed the 909F2, and didn't notice a hook/draw bias.

I just realized that I needed to swing easy again and concentrate on just making a smooth swing and I am just killing it down narrow fairways now.

Your handicap is an 8, so really you should have no problem hitting the club (or most stiff shaft clubs) especially since you hit basically the same shafted hybrid club fine.

If all else fails, go see a club fitter?

I was doing the same thing with my old 3 wood (Titleist 906F2), and I think I figured out the two main causes:

1) I wasn't extending my arms on my backswing which caused me to be out of position at the top of my swing and made me come way over the top on my downswing. If I extended my arms on my backswing, the hook would turn into a decent draw.

2) The shaft was too weak for my swing (Stiff-flex UST Proforce V2). I have a 120+ mph driver clubhead speed which makes it a nobrainer to have X-stiff shafts in my woods, and once I switched over to an X-stiff shaft I could swing aggressively without worry about the ball hooking.

If the ball starts left, your face is closed at impact. That's really about all there is to it. The shaft is most likely not the issue. Even if the shaft isn't a perfect fit for you, it's not going to have that kind of dramatic effect on your ball flight. The club is one of the best on the market, so you also don't need a new club. What you should do, however, is figure out why your clubface is closed at impact.

You said you are pulling it witch is stright away a swing fault.
Now the stick Voodoo shaft is not a good shaft if you have a agressive fast temp/swing.

The shaft is designed for smooth tempo, swining fast and agressive can cause this shaft to be very wild.

I have had the same problem with 3 woods forever. I finally fixed it by getting a much heavier shaft. Try putting some lead tape on the head or demo one with an 75-85 g shaft.
