Anyone else think Oliverra at 20yo right now is the future champ? Kid is an animal just nasty in every way.

He's got a lot of potential thats for sure. Future champ? Time will tell. He needs a bigger test to see where he is at.

He looks good, but Escudero isn't even a gate keeper no less a title contender. There's alot of talent at 155. He needs to beat someone like Joe Lauzon, Gray Maynard, Nate Diaz or Jim Miller before he can even dream about BJ or Edgar.

I like the idea of a Nate Diaz fight

I think his ground game and standup is leaps and bounds above Maynard (who is VERY over rated). Maynard's only shot is to take him down and that is where Olivera wants to be. His standup is MUCH better than most were speculating after his 41 second submission in his first fight. I like Joe, but his standup isn't a match for Olivera...now their ground game battle would be AMAZING to watch IMO. Nate can hold his own in the standup and on the ground. Nate would be the one that Olivera would have to watch out for.

I agree Maynard is over rated, but he's sitting in the #1 contender slot whether we believe he's deserving or not. Given that Escudero must have cut alot of weight (even though he fell short) and probably wasn't at his best, and the fight only lasted 41 seconds I'm not certain he can beat any of these guys. I want to see him fight again against someone higher ranked (maybe Guida or Fisher) that's prepared to fight, if he looks as good as he did against Escudero then I'd agree he's ready for Nate or Joe.

I agree. Maynard is sitting there and he will probably beat Edgar with his LnP BS! But he will be short lived. It is the wrestler's time right now....it won't last much longer I don't think. Olivera's first fight went 41 seconds. The Escudero fight went about half way through the 3rd round. And he still had the energy he had in the beginning. It is too early to say what kind of fighter he is. And even though it was Escudero he was fighting, you can still see how much potential he has just watching his movements. I mean we all know he has a GREAT ground game and IMO, his standup looked like Jose Aldo. Not to mention he is only, what, 20 years old? Those things are what I am basing my assumption on.

Oliver wants to win fights and likes to fight like just loves watch again and notice how much fun he is having. Couple that with lightning speed, creative striking, amazing BJJ potential and those crazy long legs/arms of his. In 3-4 years its going to be Olivera vs LW division. Hopefully h e can clean out wrestlers like Maynard along the way.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
