Tomorrow I'm either buying the Ping G15 driver or the K15

I suppose I should take into consideration the V2 rapture as well? Or any other suggestions.

I am just getting back into golf for the first time since high school (10 years ago). I sucked before and I suck a little less now. The least consistent part of my game is absolutely driving. I have an old, cheap Wilson driver which is very difficult to hit with. Today, the fine people of Ping came to visit my course and I got to try out some of their clubs under monitoring.

The difference with the G15 driver compared to my little Wilson was earth-shattering. Driving straight suddenly became very easy. I tried the K15, too, but it was after a hundred swings with the G so my arms were pretty tired. I don't know if the difference is significant enough for me to put up the extra cash. What do you guys think?

For the record, my clubhead speed was 100mph and when I connected I was hitting 250 yards. My biggest problem according to the guy was that I was launching the ball too high even on the 9.5° club.

Don't forget to consider the cheaper and a bit older Ping G10 driver. I've hit both G10 and G15 and the difference isn't noticable. They're both what I would consider work horse drivers. They get it done and they get it done well. The G10 is on sale everywhere for around 150-170.

The Ping Rapture, being replaced by the K15, is avail. for 150. If it's good enough for Hunter Mahan...

I fooled with a K15. Ping makes a good driver. I didn't like it, but I can see appeal of it. I hated the fairway though - that's what I wanted to look at, as I'm in the market for a new 3W.

If the G10 driver is anything like the fairway wood that would be the way to go. I have the G10 4W and have really enjoyed everything about it so far.

Love my G15 set. For me, the K15s are just a little too SGI to be visually appealing, but to each his own.

I just purchased the G15. According to the machine it was the best performing driver i tried. Testing on course tomorrow. It feels better, or fits my swing better, then the 07 Burner i was using. I liked swinging it in the shop. Will provide more feedback tomorrow once we get of the course.

+1 for the G10. Nice club.

+1, I got a 'demo' from a golf shop for $120 2 years ago when they were still over $200+ 2 years ago. I consistenly hit it 260 yds and get a few 300 yd drives out there. I play a nice little 5-10 yd fade for control.

In my :nike:  bag on my :clicgear: cart ...

Thanks, let me know how it goes. What other drivers did you compare it with?

I've delayed making a purchase until I decide between the 10 and the 15. I've decided against the K.

Ping woods are top shelf for sure. Whenever possible, I prefer to buy models that are a year or more older than the latest available. That's just me.

On the machine i tried it against a G10, Cleveland, new TM, Cally, Mizuno and Cobra. The Cally and G10 come in a close second...actually the G10 did more so. Machine was telling me that I had about 3-400 less spin on the G15 then the G10 and getting about 10-15 yards more distance...which he related to the less spin. My spin rate was the lowest with the two Pings the machine reported. I launch the 07 TM high and so was hitting a 9 degree loft at first with the G15. The G10 was a 10.5 and out hitting the 9 degree lofted G15 on average of about 10 yards. I was hitting a little straighter with the G15 but not by any significant amount. Salesman went and pulled a 10.5 degree G15 and it was over...i hit that club farther than any of them. I loved the feel and how the club went through my swing on both the G10 and G15. Though i hit the 07 TM well, I did not like the feel of the club with my particular swing. What was funny was when i picked up the G15 i thought it was the best fit and feel for my swing by far...club swings great...then I hit the G10 and thought the same thing and went back and forth 4-5 times...salesman had to be getting frustrated. My slush fund is pretty high so the extra $120 wasn't an issue for me. I went with the G15 over the G10 mostly due to the machines reported results and possibly a little better feel. I do not know how accurate these machines are...would like to here someones comments on them. But according to the machine my spin rate with the G15 was in the low 3000 (actually averaged about 3000) and the G10 was in the mid to low 3000s. The other clubs were a bit higher with the Mizuno and Cleveland being the closest in spin rate...actually they were right around the G10. I seemed to consistently hit both the Pings straighter along with the Cobra. I was not using the Serrano lower spin shafts either as the salesman said by the looks of what was registering on the machine i did not need them...both were in stock and i took his advice and went with the 149. Both drivers felt great to me and I cant see anyone going wrong with either...actually some of the other drivers were pretty good as well...I just liked the Pings and according to the machine the Pings liked me flying straighter, spinning less and going farther. Anyway, like i mentioned above going to hit 18 today and will provide more feedback. Let us know what you get.

The G15 hit well. Start of my game yesterday and the club hit very well...even on miss hits. I pulled my back a little latter in the game and the club still seemed to hit the greens despite me pulling out of my swing a little. The first 9 holes the club hit straight and long and my score reflected that. So far i have to say I really like the driver. I got the TPS 149 shaft and through the first 10 holes when I stayed in my swing it hit very straight. Again, i only hit the other clubs against the machine, but i have no regrets on getting that G15 so far...club has a good feel throughout the swing which I noticed on the course as well.
