I went to the grocery store to pick up provisions for dinner, after my round today, and as I am walking in some ASS-HAT approaches me...

"I have 50 bucks of food stamps for 25, interested?"

As a man of meager means, and with family members that rely on gov't assistance to sustain their families I was more than disgusted to hear those words. I don't make much money, and I live in a low income neighborhood. But this is the first time (in 14 years here) I have ever had someone approach me. I was dumbfounded! The more I think about the situation the more I get angry.

If you are "on food stamps" here is a clue THEY ARE FOR FOOD!!! Sorry, I'm rambling. But I am sick to my stomach! [/rant]

should have snapped a quick picture of him/her on your phone and turned him/her in. This person has been in the game long enough to be comfortable to even ask the question. Self-respect is out for him/her.....he/she will be on to more nefarious activities soon.

All states I believe now use EBT cards. There are no paper stamps any longer. Next time take the card and memorize the number on it and turn them in. In my employment I work closely with public assistance issues. I promise you that the great majority of people who receive stamps need them. Yes there are people who are mentally ill, substance abusers, petty criminals, etc who beat the process. With modern computer access to employment and other public information, only people who work for cash or use a false ID can beat the system, and even then usually for only 30-60 days, unless they move state to state.

It's the old rule, 5 9s. Maybe in this case, the number is not quite so large, but still. Let's say you've got 2 9s, 99% of people on the system really need it. You can't let that 1% get to you. There's always going to be that 1%. You can argue the same thing about anything. We could ban cars and roads because traffic accidents are the #1 cause of accidental deaths in this country... But 99.9% of the time cars help us.

But why take the chance of hurting a club. Sorry now I am ranting!!

TO THE OP You live in NC and you haven't had this happen to you before? I'm from fayetteville so I'm sure you know exactly how that ghetto ass place is. This doesn't surprise me at all, I get asked for money every single time I go back home. Get gas, Hey man you got a few dollars? Go to the grocery store, Hey big guy you got any change?
