Hey all,

I'm going to look into transferring to our offices in Baltimore, MD in January and wanted to know about golf courses/clubs in the area.

I've done a little bit of research and it seems like their are two major golf course affiliations:
1) http://www.baltimoregolfing.com/
2) http://www.classic5golf.com/

How are those courses throughout the year?

I'm very interested in practice areas too - grass driving range, putting green, chipping/pitching area with sand traps. Do any of those courses have a great practice facility?

I'm going to be there for a couple years so I'd event consider joining a country club so I'm open to hearing about good/bad experiences with various clubs in the area.

Thanks for all the advice

Can help you out a little on courses West of Baltimore, but do not know exactly where you are going to be. You may work in Baltimore, but may live up to 30-60 miles away, as that is the case for most people working in Baltimore/D.C..

Haven't played the ones you listed, but again you would be coming to a very large area.

Thanks JGus.

The office I'd work in is located a little north of Towson so I'd most likely find a place to live north of the actual city.

If it's in your budget this is where you want to play:

Ouch! Is it just me or is that crazy expensive?

The practice area sounds awesome though:
Practice facilities include a double fairway driving range with an all grass tee, a three green short game area and a 17,000 sq ft putting green. An excellent staff awaits you.

Do you think they'd mind if I just went there to practice and didn't actually play a round? I don't know the proper etiquette for that?

Having played there I don't think it's crazy expensive, in fact they lowered their price $20 this year. I spend that much most Sundays during the season playing top daily fee courses in my area.

They used to host the LPGA Championship there that's why they have the great short game area. It was added when they got the tournament, the range was always there. You could call and see if they'll let you use it. There is a course near me with a great facility that charges $30 for 4 hours if you're not playing.

I live 10 minutes north of Towson in Nottingham. The courses I play are Mountain Branch (its the only place with a grass range), Mt. Pleasant, Pine Ridge, Rocky Point and Diamond Ridge. I would stay away from Clifton Park unless you have a gun with you. There are some pretty good courses in harford county as well which is about 25 minutes north of towson. If your looking to join a club take a look at the Towson Country Club.
