I posted recently about changing to a 909 or mizuno titanium fairway wood but am also considering the Nike vr now the price has come down. I haven't seen many posts about this club, anyone using one? How about forgiveness? Also, from what I have read it comes with the 'real' voodoo shaft, is this correct?

from the reviews I've read it's meant to be a great club for high SS players but lacks a lot of forgiveness.

Are you a good ball striker for a 5 handicap?
Not sure how much you'd want to be able to shape the ball with a 3 wood.

My Clubs
Driver - LV4 10* R flex
Wood - sam snead persimmon 2 wood (for windy days)

I am a pretty good ballstriker for my handicap, my main requirement for a 3 wood is to hit it straight off the tee, distance and workability are not so important for me. I swing my 3 wood around 100mph.

what's wrong with the r9? I'm thinking about getting one.

you might want to consider the Taylormade Superfast 3 wood, it's got a deep face and is meant to be great off the tee. I've heard a few people talking about the Cleveland Launcher too. here's a thread I made a week ago if it helps http://thesandtrap.com/forum/threads...t-fairway-wood

If you don't care about distance or workability then I'd say go for the G15. I haven't even bothered trying to work the ball with it since my main concern with my fairway woods are forgiving and straight.

I've had several Nike fairway woods over the past few years, and none of them have stuck. Maybe my favorite fairway woods out right now are the MP Titaniums (until the 910s come out, though). The MPs have a really great feel off the face.

In my bag:

That one I love (the non square one, Tiger actually still uses it). But the square SUMO and they DYMOs were crap. I had both of them.

Before I bought my 906F4 (in my sig) used for $70, if I could have found the Sasquatch 2 that you have I would have bought it. But I have only been able to find women's shafted ones.

Not a fan of VR woods, I love the irons though. I've had the 3 wood with the stiff voodoo shaft and I just couldn't get along with it. Getting rid of the driver too shortly.

Driver - VR str8 fit
3 wood - Burner 09
3 hybrid - Burner hybrid
Irons - VR split cavity S300 shaft
SW - CG15 56 degreeLW - VR forged 60 degreePutter - Studio select

I demo'ed the VR 3 wood today and was pretty impressed. It went lower than my r9 and seemed to have a much lower spin rate. I'm going back on thursday to hit it side by side with my r9 on the trackman so i can get some definitive figures. Forgiveness was pretty much the same as the r9 despite the face being a little shorter from heel to toe.

I demo'd the 420 cc, 8.5* driver with a PX 6.0 shaft and all I can say is WOW. I really liked that combination. It was long and accurate for me. I've also demo'd the 13* 3 fw with a stiff Voodoo shaft. Not as easy to hit as my MacGregor NVG 12.5* 3 fw, but still pretty damn good; I'd buy one. IMO, its not a club for a high to middle hc player.
