Just snagged some new irons, BUT.....

A little weary about my shafts going from S300 to PX 6.0 flighted. I bounced back and forth between 5.5 and 6.0 on the shaft optimizer, and I liked the light, crisp feel of the 6.0's but didn't hit the 5.5's because they didn't have them at the moment in these clubs. But my SS with a 6 iron is between 84-91, so I'm like right on the edge of 5.5/6.0.

On to the irons... I got these.... (severely marked down)

Take the blue out of the irons and you have a beautiful set. Love combo sets.

That's funny you said that. My first plans with these are either black paint in the blue area, or no paint at all with the two stripes and the J36 logo. And either a half-cord or corded set of grips.

Why dont you soft step the shafts? If they are taper tips its easy.

i miss mine...but i hated the PJX shafts (i ust had the CB's tho)

take the paintfill right out, go w a raw look and paint the numbers white

I could NOT get the "B" paint out tho....soaked for hours in acetone and nothing (tested the 3i first)
so i didnt bother with it on the rest of the irons
the rest will come out like butta

My irons are DG X-Stiff soft stepped. I was borderline too much for a stiff, and some shots were perfect for X Stiff so they have them soft stepped. Perfect.

From what it looks like, it doesn't seem like the B is paintfilled...but rather a sticker glued on.

Awesome looking irons there. I'll always be more of a combo set guy over all blades. Already got my eye on the VR combos for a few years from now when they're $300 Good luck!

When I switched from DG to PX, I didn't notice a stiffness difference between S300's and 6.0. I have hit 5.5 and they are considerably softer than S300's and 6.0's. IMO - S300's and 6.0's are pretty close in flex.

I'm taking them to the range here in a bit to finally see how they perform. It's sort of a funny thing with these irons. I've been eyeballing this set in the golf store for about a full year, and watching the price drop steadily over time, and finally I'm in there returning a Vokey I had bought for a friend, which he didn't need after all. And I come up on these 4-P brand new for $350, minus the cost of a brand new Vokey and I'm walking out the door with new irons.

OK, took them to the range today. They don't feel noticeably stiffer than the s300's I've been using in the W/S Pi7's. I would say I gained 3-5 yds per club, likely due to the stronger lofts, which is A-OK with me. I wasn't hitting the ball too well due to my full body soreness due to my first day snowboarding for the season. When I did make solid contact, the sound was awesome. I did a bit of chipping with the PW from the set, and it felt great, too. I'm looking forward to gaming these ones for a while now, but I am still not ruling out the possibility of trying the PX 5.5's if the opportunity presents itself. I also really liked the pocket cavity long irons, and ironically I felt they had the best feel at impact out of the set which surprised me.
