In a thread about slow play on the Tour a month or so ago, I wondered how well players would do if the U.S. Open still had a 36-hole final day. We're going to see how today.
There is a 36-hole final in the Sony, and each group has 4:30 between 3rd-round and 4th-round tee times. http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/r006/tee-times.html
Neither Ben Crane nor Sean O'Hair are in the field, so this might work out. Rory Sabbatini must be in hog heaven.
Like in the old Open, the order of play in the 4th round is based on 2nd-round scores. We could well have the winner come from a group that finishes an hour ahead of everybody else. Back in the day, "leader in the clubhouse" actually meant something. It could today, too.
This should be fun.
