WARNING >>>>>> I got ripped off on ebay for a set of iron i bought

Hello everyone , I am new to this site BUT im hoping my first post will help me get some resolution to a problem I have. This past week i bought a set of Bridgestone J36 irons off a guy on ebay and went through the entire process with paypal....Well to make a long story short, he NEVER sent me the clubs, What he did was send them to another address that he could pick them up at and keep my money. Basically a fake address that would show paypal that the item had been delivered...Ive talked to paypal and ebay and opened claims BUT after talking to the guy i thought we had the problem resolved so i closed the claim....WELL NOT SO MUCH....he is now not returning my calls and no new tracking number like he said...UGH....im a single dad that lives watching the spending of every penny, hence wy i had to buy off ebay and NOT a new set...I am SOOOOO frustrated because now im out my money AND no clubs.....WHY are people soooooooo shady???? I will post the guys phone number and ebay info if it comes to it BUT what i am hoping is that this forum is like the one we had with "archerytalk" and fellow golfers help eachother out and put pressure on this guy to get me my irons......

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, im not really all that computer savy so not sure what my options are as to using the internet to fight back...PLEASE HELP

When you buy off eBay you are taking a risk, one way to minimize the risk is to look for sellers with very high feedback rating and alot of transactions.  One thing you can do is provide negative feedback which will warn future buyers of his scam.

If you used a credit card with PayPal, call them to dispute the transaction.  Do not close any claims until you either get your money back or the clubs no  matter what he says.  Closing the claim may have hurt you, but you should be able to explain your reasons for closing it and get them to still assist you.

If the guy does this often, he probably uses a number of eBay accounts, so peer pressure isn't going to do much good, you need legal help.

SO you have an eBay account with your shipping address, you buy an item and it gets shipped to an address that is not your shipping address and eBay doesn't get involved and refund your money?  Hmmm?  Just what rating did this seller have before you did the deal?  How many transactions are in his history?

Did you open a dispute with Paypal or eBay?  eBay considers it to be that the seller must ship to you at an address you provide;  sending it elsewhere is the same as a non-send.  Paypal is similar.

Furthermore, if he did what you say, this is mail fraud -- and there are criminal consequences.  If eBay won't do anything, go to the police (assuming sender is domestic).

Yes i opened a case with ebay BUT they closed it when the package showed it had been delivered....EVEN though it NEVER left Alabama....UGH.......And yes i will call my bank BUT its Saturday and i have to wait until Monday.....pay pal and eBay are giving me the runaround....NOTE: guy has 100% positive feedback....?????.....And police wont do squat because its under $500.00....This is ridiculous....i need some one in AL to get on this guy....

buckley_69 is the guys ebay name....as well as i have his phone number.....he tried to give me the same tracking number back again telling me that when he shipped it out yesterday they used the same tracking number....Come on man...i was born at night but it wan NOT last night.....

The local police may not be too interested in helping because the value for your transaction is low, but the feds might be interested.   It sounds like the guy has violated federal statutes for mail fraud, and as it is likely that he has used this scam before you may find the feds have a more sympathetic ear.   Good luck!

No wonder you're having issues with Paypal and Ebay you gave the guy positive feedback on your transaction:  "Fast shipping.....great to do business with....Thanks".  I'd call your credit card company or write it off.

I gave him great feedback because he provided me with a shipping number ( tracking number) right away......i thought i was doing the right thing??? I NEVER gave him all 5 stars because i had not seen the product yet......

Well, then consider this a somewhat pricey lesson, I'm sorry to say.

NEVER NEVER NEVER given feedback until you have the item, as described, in hand.

I hate to say it but I'm not sure that you can really do anything else.  You did good by opening up a claim but closing it hurt you... so did leaving positive feedback before you ever saw the item.  In the future remember not to leave feedback until you actually have the item in your hand and if you do have a problem don't close a claim until it is actually resolved.  All that being said, make sure that you call eBay and PayPal, explain your situation to them, let them know why you closed your claim and see if you can re-open it.  Good luck and thanks for the heads up on a shady seller.

Your going to have to use some common sense in this situation. Call ebay and paypal and explain why you gave good feedback or closed the claim. Tell them how he shipped it to a different address so he could pick them up. Be very clear and ask to talk to a supervisor.

I want to thank every one for there feedback here BUT please note....i do have common sense.....it was a matter of me being new to the ebay/paypal process...and i was trying to be a positive buyer by stating that the transaction was good, i thought i would be able to add additional feedback AFTER the clubs showed up....Like i said i am NEW to this BUT that doesnt mean i am ok with what has happened and will just roll over and say "to hell with it" its over $200.00....and in my world as a single dad thats HUGE....I cant afford to just give up on it......I have called everyone but Obama and noone will do crap, ive asked to talk to supervisors, crew leaders, head honchoe's...and NOTHING.....contacted the seller and he cussed me out telling me he broke no laws, and for me to have patients.....UGH....

You got scammed and made some bad decisions. Sorry to hear about your crappy ebay experience.

I didnt mean to say you dont have common sense but your not telling us what ebay told you. You are saying that Ebay closed the case when he shipped it to the wrong address? And what did ebay say when you told them he shipped it to the wrong address to do some scam or whatever?

I read through this guys feedback and he's been pretty legit up to this point.  I did notice he didn't have that many transactions as a seller, which is always a red flag for me on eBay.

Didn't you notice that the information associated with that tracking number had the wrong ship to address in it?  I'd say the tracking number is your best argument, as that is your only proof the ship to address was wrong.  Showing eBay your transaction e-mail with the appropriate ship to address, and the shipping confirmation e-mail from the Seller with a tracking number that is incorrect should be all the proof you need to show to eBay and Paypal to get your refund.
